Okay.... ranting time! ((not really a rant... more like random thoughts))
You know... there is so much hating in the Anime / Manga world! gonk I just relised this. You can even break it down into different arguments.
I mean first of all, we can start with the arugments of the smallest groups... which is character arguements. Every character has their own little group of fans ((little in comparison to the big pic of the entire anime community here)). And These fans can sometimes get into fights. Ex. Sasuke fan and Naruto fan fighting over which character is better.
Let's say we go up a step though. There are many pairing arguments out there. Ex. people who argue over whether SasuNaru or GaaNaru is better.
After this, we can go up a step. Within each show, there is a Yaoi/Yuri versus Straight pairings. This is one of the arguments that ticks me off the most.
We now take a break from the arguement topic for a rant: I cannot stress enough how much people are so closed. I am not only talking about anti-yaoi fans. There are yaoi fans out there who will not accept straight pairings, just because their OTP is different. Though I seem to notice the ones who are closed to Yaoi a lot more. They only hate it because it is so popular! I am very open minded when it comes to pairings... and though I belive Kakashi and Iruka were MADE for eachother, that does not mean I would have either one if they ended up with a woman in the seris. Why can't people stop acting "cool" and high and mighty, and just stop being so stupid and bad mouthing ALL yaoi pairings? I cry everytime I see one of those people go on a anti-yaoi rant. Which makes me think.... why do they hate yaoi so much? "Oh it is TOO popular and the fandoms are sick...." they say. No one said you HAVE to read it cha know. -_____- And not all yaoi fans are crazy fangirls and fanboys. Some are very sophisticated and calm. It is not our fault that the majority of the fans are compleatly nutties and hyperactive.
Now where were we... oh yeah the hating.
There is a yaoi/yuri versus straight pairing argument.... but than you get to other arguements.
Show versus show for instance. I went to a convention... and the Naruto cosplayers and the Bleach cosplayers had a NASTY rivalry.
It made me really sad.
Instead of fighting over all these small things.... why can't we all see the big picture?
We all argue with eachother.... and not with the people who call us freaks for liking anime and cosplaying! There is a bigger war going on... and we are too busy bickering over yaoi/yuri versus straight pairings!
So.... anyone have any personal thoughts on this?

I know what you mean. Personally ,anmie is anime. It's really silly that people think that the people who enoy yaoi are like "Eww, its gross" or "I'm sick and tiered of people pairing up a guy with an other guy. They aren't gay you sick freak". Recently I had a NaruSasu kissing layout and somebody was just bashing it. That is why I posted on my profile about my layouts saying that if they don't like it then they can get the hell out. I put my layouts on because I like it. I saw it as a romantic sweetness to it. I'm even trying to find a soft SakuIno one because I ust wanna see if I can piss off any more people. I don't see yaoi as some kind of fan girl squee. I see it as a romantic political statement. Yes, I'll go "aaww, so cute!" and have a fangirl moment. But I'm not gonna take it overbored. People who ust end up bashing yaoi are uncomfertable with their own sexuality. I feel if you are truely comfertable with your own sexuality, seeing two of your own gender making out or whatever when you read or watching it on televison, it's not going to bother you. Now for me, if I see two girls, or two guys doing that, I won't care as long as they don't get it on.

I, sadly, am one of those people who are very defensive of their OTPs.... but I really do try to see it in other people's points of view.
I can get really mad when they don't see it my way either and I'm trying to think of some kind of compromise so that everyone can be happy with their OTPs and not claw at each other's throats.
Homophobes also infuriate me from time to time also. I don't want to be a hypocrite, but some people can be really closed-minded. Instead of bashing, we should just either not say anything bad, or nod graciously....
But society nowadays isn't all happy-go-lucky..... so there are people who are caring enough to accept while others just refuse to change their ways and act all defiant.
^_^ I appreciate your ranting, Chippy. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one and also that I can continue to try to change and be a more accepting person.

One argument you brought up that I really agree with, is people who are into yaoi, but can't accept het pairings.
Personally, I love NaruHina and I can't stand people bashing it, just because they are not a yaoi pairing.
If yaoi fans want people to be tolerent of them, they have to respect people who like het pairings, too.

I agree with all of your points, Chippy. 3nodding
I admit I used to be the kind of yaoi fan that bashed all het pairings... now I'm glad to say that I've opened up to a lot more. Hey, I even like most of 'em.

I am so glad that people agree with me. ^_____^
Personally, I am a SasuNaru fan and support the pairing.... but I know that it is probrably going to end up NaruSaku in the end.... and fully support that pairing. I don't understand why people cannot be accepting of more diverse couples! DX
I admit, I too used to only see the world of anime through the eyes of a die-hard yaoi fan. I wouldn't even listen to the arguments from other pairings. But.... after a while, I relised how stupid it was. There are a LOT of really cute straight pairings out there!
Why can't other people from both sides of the argument relize that?TT_______TT
Yaoi fans who don't see both sides keep saying "Gender does not matter".... but they need to think about their words a bit more. I mean... if gender does not matter.... than why can't a man and woman love eachother? wink

If love has no gender, then the guy/guy woman/woman guy/woman pairings shouldn't matter. I was turned into yaoi by some of my friends. And we would disguss our favorit pairings, from straight ones to the homo pairings. Some of my favorite pairings are:
SasuNaru NaruGaar GaarLee NaruSaku SakuLee HinaNaru HinaGaar SasuIno SakuIno
So yeah... I never really was the type to defend their fav OPC. It seemed really childish to me.

A while ago I made up a little essay in this guild which was basically GaaNaru vs. SasuNaru and after debating back and fourth with some of the members of this guild I have realized that the argument was pointless. I think the reason I was sort of mad at SasuNaru was because GaaNaru seemed to have just as much basis as a pairing ( and I don't mean basis as in actual evidence from the manga pointing to that as cannon) but had comparatively less of a fandom for lack of a better way of wording things. I ended up changing the focus of the essay to being about why I thought GaaNaru was such a great couple instead of GaaNaru vs. SasuNaru. I did state in the essay however that Gaara owes everything to Naruto whereas Sasuke took everything for granted and that was a good portion of the focus of the essay but my intent wasn't to bash SasuNaru, just to suggest that GaaNaru was just as good. And the series isn't over (thought I think it will be soon crying ) So maybe Sasuke didn't take Naruto for granted after all. We can't say anything for sure yet. Fighting is really stupid. But I truly believe that humanity can't exist without it. There will never be world peace. Life on earth will forever be a constant cycle of wars and petty arguments. Yet, if there was no war we would never know what peace was. If people never fought then Naruto never would have been created and we would not be having this conversation. I truly agree with you Chippy though. I'm sure if the Bleach and Naruto cosplayers could see themselves at a convention hurling fake resengans at one another and hitting each other with their DIY card board swords they would realize ' Hey, we're a bunch of freakin idiots' So yeah, we can't all achieve world peace...but I think we can all agree that fighting with our own kind (fellow anime geeks) isn't the best way to go... sweatdrop ...

Sadly, I have friends like that. Me: Faye, why don't you like yuri? Her: Because I'm not a lesbian ;/ What the hell? It's acceptable for her to like gay guys and straight pairings making out, but not girls? I'm sorry, but I hate despise it when people are close-minded like that. Same with my friend Alex. He hates any form of yaoi. And another one of my friends, Lorelle... She only likes heterosexual pairings.
They sadden me D:

Personally, the only guy on guy pairings I see in Naruto is SasukeXNaruto, GaaraXNaruto, and KakashiXIruka. Apart from that, if I were to pair everyone in the show, it would be mostly het pairings, so I can't say I hate those kinds of pairings. So, you're right. This kind of rivalry is stupid. If they have as much as a basis on their pairing as you do yours, there's nothing else you can do except agree to disagree and instead spend your time talking about things you have in common. As for the whole Bleach vs. Naruto thing...????
There's something like that? That's news to me.

Well, at least at the convention I went to that is yearly, Anime Boston.
The Bleach cosplayers and the Naruto cosplayers are having a nasty rivalry at the moment. I like it when it is all in good fun, and the two group just throw insults back and forth but we both laugh about it and have fun... it is those who are DEAD SERIOUS about the rivalry that get me. -___________-
It used to be Pirates and Ninjas, and now it is Ninjas a Shinigami.
