I want to write a story about a guy that is discovered by New Age practitioners who take him to a sort of secret academy that teaches the ways of the Universe. I only know so much about the New Age culture, so I'll ask for suggestions for plot elements from those who think this will be interesting.
I just don't have it all together yet, so I can't start writing.

Well, what kind of genre were you thinking of writing it as? And on what level, meaning, for example fantasy, Is it a complete parallel to our world, with minor differences, or is at complete angles to our reality, and further, what time setting is it. I take it to be recent past to near future, but correct me if I'm wrong. It's good to get the settings and genres out before even getting a plot line.
