I know! What the bloody hell is wrong with people?!
I had the same problem when VnV Nation was in town. I was going to see them with my brother, but he didn't have the money for the ticket and no one I know knows who they are, much less likes them. So, I didn't go. It was a very sad day.

Yeah, it really sucks. ;.; Everyone I know likes emo bands (which is okay if thats what you're into), and I always joke around about how I'm trapped in the 80s. XD But yeah I might as well go alone. I have two tickets so I can probably scalpe the other one for a pretty penny. surprised

I would just drag one of my friends with me (Hey, you've already got the ticket) and be like, "This is the band that your bands wanted to be when they grew up." xd

Pish, that sucks.
You know, if you can't convince your friends to go with you, make some new friends at the show. It's a pretty friendly environment most of the time (apart from a few drugged up 30somethings who are inconsiderate and can't dance).. Anyway, I ended up meeting a few great people there. You can be garunteed to have at lease one common interest, the cure, anyway. biggrin

(Oh boy! It's monday now, and I can tell you all how it went)

Wow.
I went to Challenge Stadium on Saturday night and lived out one of my dreams. It was amazing. I saw the cure. Front and center of the pit. They're verging on 50, but they're still able to pump out their tunes for three hours in record quality perfection.
It felt surreal.
The night afterwards I was admiring the pictures on my wall, and I thought to myself '********, I've experienced these guys, live'
I've felt the notes of Simon's bass pumped through my heart with his amplifier, in real life.
I've watched the sweat drip off their faces.

They opened with open, and finished with end. Then, they went on the play three encores, so their final song was Killing an Arab. Their set started off with lots of pop classics, then it headed into this psychadelic trance of melodical melancholy, then back into the punky early stuff to close the night.
Personally, I enjoyed hearing their 80's synth classics in a different light, on guitars, rather than keyboards. If they had the keyboards, it would've been exactly like their records. That would've been nice too, I guess, but I like the variation it brought to their music anyway.
I was kinda surprised when they didn't play anything from Bloodflowers, or Lovecats, but Hot Hot Hot, Lovesong, Fascination Street, From the Edge Of the Deep Green Sea, A Forest, Close to Me, Killing an Arab and Why Can't I Be You, The Blood and Inbetween Days made up for it.

My hair was so big, my friends in the seated section could find my in the pit because of it. I'm pretty proud of that, the 28 hours I spent doing my hair really paid off for that. biggrin It was even bigger than Robert Smiths! Who was wearing camo pants. Haha.

There's the proof, I'm the one with the hair.

Lullaby ******** ruled too.

I didn't recognise Porl. He's got a shaved head with these amazing tattoos on his scalp now, that match his guitar, no doubt.

Ahh!

Oh yeah, the girl next to me fainted and got to go right up to the very front (which was just infront of five more people anyway) during the first song of the first encore. What a lucky duck! She managed to stay concious and keep that spot too!

At the end of the show, I was -this- close to getting a drumstick. I gave the roadie eye contact, and I could swear he threw it towards me, but the girl infront of me jumped up and grabbed it before me.

Here's a very, very poor quality photo that I took with my phone, the quality is even worse than what it could be, because I have no credit and just scanned my phone instead. But look! You can tell how close I was, there arent any heads in the picture! Robert Smith was just to the left of the bright blue light.

Anyway, I can't believe it.
I've experienced the cure!
One of my favourite bands of all time, I've experienced them live!
