Naida was sitting on the front porch swing, watching it rain. It always seemed to be raining here. Nothing like sunny California where they grew up. No, here it was gray, raining more gray, into the vast gray sea their house bordered. Naida knew she was not destined to write a travel guide for Scotland, but that didn't stop her from taking her in surroundings enough to notice the two twin owls fighting their way towards the house through the storm. "MAIL'S COMING." She yelled in to her mother. Penny, who was waddling with pregnancy, made her to way to the window in the kitchen the owls would come in. Naida was beginning to feel a little damp, and came inside, too, wondering where her Sister, the twin one, the only one that mattered, was.

Kiandra was sitting upstairs in her room, flipping through pages of a muggle magazine. She didn't read the articles inside, for she thought they were pointless, instead she was looking at the handsome teenage boys that were inside. As she went to flip the page, she had a tingling sensation telling her to go downstairs, and since she was always one to follow her instinct, especially when it dealt with boys, she put the magazine down and made her way out of her room and down the stairs. As she wandered towards the kitchen, she wandered into Naida. "Hey sis" she greeted as she smiled brightly.

Naida grunted in greeting, and before she could form a sentence of any kind their mother screeched. "Mom! You sound like an owl yourself!" Naida called. Penny came running in and handed them their letters - well, actually, she handed them each other's letters. The woman still couldn't keep them straight. "What's so exciting about this?" Naida said, handing her sister's letter over.

Kiandra exchanged letters with her sister, and then looked down at hers with curiosity. "Hogwarts?" She could remember hearing about it a while back, but couldn't recal what it was about. "Mom, whats Hogwarts?" she asked, then looked up at her mother.

Naida read the whole letter. Twice. "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy? What kind of hogwash is that?" She was not impressed by anything as silly sounding as 'Hogwarts' Penny was bursting with joy. "Girls! This is one of the most prestigious Wizarding schools in the world. You two are so lucky to get to go there!" "Huh. You'd think they've have a better name for it, then..." Naida commented. Penny ignored her daughter.

"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" Kiandra mumbled quietly to herself. "Where have I heard of that before?" she had drifted back into her own memories, trying to recall why it was so familiar. Then it dawned on her, she had remembered reading an old article about it in the Daily Prophet. "Isn't that the school where Harry Potter had killed....well, you know...?"

"Voldemorevoldemortvoldemort!" Naida chanted. "Did he die there? That's pretty cool then!" She was suddenly a little too excited about going to school then. In the background Penny had begun chanting to little Sterling about how exciting new school supply shopping would be in London.

"Yup, he was killed by the legendary Harry Potter!" she smiled "Oh it would be so neat to meet him! I heard that he was very cute at our age!" she nodded enthusiastically. "Speaking of boys.....I wonder if there will be any cute ones at Hogwarts".

"I'm sure all the boys who get admitted to Hogwarts are as ugly as warts on a hog." Naida said sarcastically, complete with eye roll.

Kiandra turned towards her sister and stuck out her tongue "They are not!" she replied, then left the room to sulk a little. She wandered into the living room where her younger sister was sitting on the floor playing with one of her muggle-made dolls. "Hello Maris" she said and then sat next to her. "What are you doing?" She asked curiously.

Maris looked up at her older sister, and with a big, slightly toothless grin, she replied "I'm pwetending they are princesses and they rule this HUUUGEEE kingdom".

Kiandra smiled at her sister and giggled slightly. "Thats amazing!" She said, then picked up a male doll and pretended he was the handsom prince who had come to sweep her sisters dolls off their feet. The one thing that Kiandra didnt know, was that when attending Hogwarts, she'd have to be away from her family for months at a time. This was something that would most likely hit her pretty hard. She loved being around her family almost as much as she loved being around cute boys.

Naida wandered after her sister, she had never put up well with sulking. "Did you look at the supply list? This is one of those classic British BOARDING schools. How cool is that?"

Kiandra looked up at her sister, she was utterly shocked at what she had just said. "B...Boarding school? You mean we will have to go away for long periods of time?" she then looked down at Maris, and then over towards her mother who was still standing in the hallway entertaining their 3 year old brother. Her eyes began to fill with tears, she was so excited to go up until the point she learned she'd have to be separated from her family.

Naida couldn't bear to see her sister cry, she rush over and gave her a big hug. "It'll be fun... and you'll have me... I'm sure we'll write lots."

Kiandra held onto her sister tightly. It was true that she'd have her with her, and that did infact bring her some comfort. Though, she still wasn't sure if she had wanted to go anymore. It was something she'd have to think about.

[[Scene skips to several days later, when they go school supply shopping]]

Penny took the girls, Naida, Kaindra, and Maris to Diagon Alley for the shopping trip while Bob and Sterling stayed home. They had lunch at the Leaky Cauldron, and Naida couldn't sit still, wanting to get to the shops as soon as possible instead of sitting around in a pub waiting for it all to happen. Finally Penny took them to the courtyard and through the brick wall. Naida's eyes couldn't take it all in fast enough. Penny had gotten the money she needed out of the local bank the day before so she asked the girls "what do you want to get first?" "OUR WANDS!" Naida shouted, "no! The robes! No... our wands. No, the supplies, No the wand." Naida could not make up her mind.

Kianda was feeling much better now that a few days had passed. She was still a bit fearfull of leaving her family, but she knew so long as she had her sister by her side she'd be okay. As her sister debated with herself about where they should go first, Kiandra decided to state her opinion as well. "I say wands" she smiled. "Then the robes" She nodded and then looked up at her mother.

Penny smiled at her girls, she had guessed they would choose wands first. They headed to Ollivander's wand shop. Mr. Ollivander himself was too old now to sell the wands, he just stayed in the back making them now. They were greeted by a young man with a mess of blonde hair that seemed to stand straight up. Penny was proud to tell him her twins were going to Hogwarts but quickly distracted him with questions about her own wand. Leaving the two girls to look at the wands themselves. Naida was overwhelmed with all the wands, "I didn't realize wands were different like this..."

"There are sooo many" Kiandra stated with utter amazement. She looked at the shelves just full of boxes, each containing a different type of wand. "I wonder what kind I'll get" she stated curiously, then began to peak into random boxes to see what they looked like.

"Go ahead and try one out, girls." The sales clerk yelled between breaths with their mother. So Naida pulled out the dark wooded one right in front of her right hand. She waved it about like she had seen her parents doing. Nothing happened. "Are you sure I'm a witch?" She asked her mother. "Of course!" Penny said, not missing a beat, "that's just not your wand."

As Kiandra opened a box nearby, she pulled out and began to wave it. Suddenly a large pile of boxes came tumbling down to the floor. "Umm....sorry" she said as her cheeks filled with a deep red. She quickly put the wand back into it's original box and left the area to look somewhere else.

Naida couldn't help but laugh at her sister. "At least yours did something!" She said, seriously between laughs.

The sales clerk nor their mother looked the least bit worried by this, and the sales clerk simply charmed the boxes back into place.

"My wand is willow" Penny said to her daughters. "Maybe one of you ought to try that..."

"Are they identical twins?" The sales clerk asked Penny, glad to finally be on the subject of the girl's wands.

"Yes." Answered their mother.

"I have two identical willow wands, actually." He charmed out two boxes. "11 inches, willow, unicorn hair, from unicorns that were identical twins.

Naida took the box closer to her, and took out the wand. Already she could tell it didn't feel right. And sure enough, when she waved it it flew from her hand and hit the clerk in the face! Naida's hands flew to cover her mouth. "I'm so sorry!" She cried.

"Not your fault." Said the clerk, "should have known it wouldn't be that easy..."

Kiandra left the area she was in, she didn't want to repeat what had just happened. It was too embarassing. As she turned the corner into another row of shelves and boxes full of wands, she seen a box that looked so much brighter than the others. She wasn't sure if it was just in her mind, or if everyone could see it. Curious as to what type of wand was inside, she walked over the box, pulled it out and held the wand. It was a gorgeous wand, 13 inches, Rosewood with a Pheonix feather core. "This is gorgeous!" she said to herself quietly. Then Kiandra waved the wand as she had done moments before with another. This time there was no loud boom of items crashing to the floor. Infact, there wasn't any type of disturbance at all. Instead, the wand seemed to light up even more than it had before. It gave her a wonderful feeling holding it, she knew it must be the right one for her.

Kiandra smiled and walked over to her mother and the sales clerk. "I think this is the one" she said then set the wand back inside the box and placed it on the counter.

Naida's eyes watched her sister, wide as oceans. "You're so lucky..." She muttered. She pulled a box at random. Waved. And watched as the box it was in tore apart. She put the wand down, and to her mother's horror, grabbed another one, she wanted her wand! She waved, and it shook violently. She barely put it back in the box before moving on to the next. The sales clerk was still new, but had never seen a child so determined. He flat out ignored Penny worrying over affording the wand the one daughter had already put on the counter, and began pulling other wands for Naida to try. Wand after wand resulted in something disastrous or simply nothing at all. Naida had begun to throw them back at the sales clerk who didn't seem to mind at all. Finally Olivander shuffled from the back. "The first one picked the Pheonix Fuga, correct?" He croaked. The clerk nodded, with a quirked brow, not knowing how Olivander knew. And then everyone in the store watched as the old man slowly made his way to a top shelf and pulled a green box. "This is it's twin core." He personally handed the box to Naida, who knew from the moment the box touched her hands this was her wand. She waved the wand, and a silver light radiated. Olivander smiled to himself, saying to everyone that 'he's still got it' before heading back to the back. On his way back he wisphered to the Clerk "give them half price" but luckily Penny didn't hear or she would have refused.

"Congratulations Naida!!" She replied with delight. She was very happy that her sister found her wand, even if it had taken her so long. As she watched her mother pay the sales clerk, and grab the bag the wands and their boxes were placed in, she looked at the supply list and wondered where they would go next. "So then.....should we do outfits now?" she looked up at her mom and sister, and then back towards the door.

Naida grabbed her sister's hand. "That sounds great! I love how we buy black robes, and they'll turn our house colors after we're sorted..." They left the shop and headed down the alley. "What house do you think you'll be in? You've done more reading on this place. Oh! That reminds me, Mum! There's a book... Hogwarts, A History? Can we get a copy? We'll share..."

"Of course." Penny wanted everything for her first daughter's first year to be perfect.

Naida pumped her fist into the air like she had won something. "Yay!"

Kiandra thought for a moment about the question her sister asked her "Hmmm....I'm actually hoping for Gryffindor or Ravenclaw" She smiled "I think i'd be good in either. What about you sis?" She continued walking towards the shop they were going to next.

"Wherever you are, of course." She didn't even have to think about it.

They came to Madam Malkin's robe shop, although it was not run by her two daughters, and stopped out front while a family with quite a few (did we count seven?) children took their time leaving. "That'll be us in no time." Penny joked, much to the horror of her daughters.

Since there were now two Mademoiselle Malkins each girl quickly got shuffled onto a stand for measurements.

Kiandra stood with her arms up, and legs together. Just as she was instructed. She tried her best to stand as still as possible, but it was hard with everything the woman was doing. When she was finally done with her measurements, Kiandra stepped down and looked at her sister. "It still feels so strange that everything is happening. I am looking forward to it, at least... a little more than I was before" she smiled and looked at some fabrics nearby.

"I think you're gunna love it when we go to school, it's gunna be all new and far away, but you do well at this sort of thing." She barley got to finish her sentence before the younger Mademoiselle Malkin took Naida's complete attention to fit the robes. "No! No!" Naida kept instructing her, "that skirt is wayyyy too short..." They were having trouble seeing eye to eye on this.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2007 12:16 am

Kiandra smiled "We'll see how everything goes" she nodded and then stood back up on the stand so the other woman could start fitting the clothing. "Oo this skirt is just perfect!" she smiled beamed brightly. It came just a bit higher than the middle of her thigh. Kiandra had no problems with short skirts, just so long as they didn't show anything that she shouldn't be showing at her age.

Naida finally have convinced her horrified seamstress that skirts were only decent at a girl's ankles, so when she looked over and saw her sister's desired length she rolled her eyes. Mademoiselle Malkin was busying making all the pleats via magic. Naida was actually getting more and more excited about school, and was honestly thrilled they let her make her skirt the way she wanted. She would have worn shorter, but she would confess that to no one. "I bet you're gunna made loads of friends right off the bat... what do you think your best class will be?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 12, 2007 8:30 pm

Kiandra shrugged "I have no clue....and i'm sure you'll make loads of friends as well! You're amazing and i'm sure everyone will love you." She smiled and quickly ran to give her sister a hug. It wasn't until after she let her sister go, that she realized she had left stand before the seamstress had finished, thus causing her to have to repair a few rips in the material. Which of course was due to it being pulled out of the womans hands as Kiandra had ran to her sister moments before. "I'm soo sorry!" she repeated over and over. After that the woman muttered things under her breath, clearly she was very annoyed at having to repair the skirt.

Naida burst into side-splitting laughter at her sister. She couldn't even think of anything to say as she laughed at the scene her sister had just caused. She was excited. Already things were far less dull than they had been at home. What other bits of excitingness would Hogwarts bring to her life?
