So what did you think of movie 5? Did you like it? Why/why not? What were your favorite parts? What were your opinions on Umbridge, the DA, the room of requirement, the ministry, the fireworks... and well... everything! Telltell!
PostPosted: Mon Jul 30, 2007 7:22 pm

I just saw it yesterday. ^_^ (Sunday the 29th of July)

I think it was pretty good, but they left out cool details like Mundungus (He's semi-important in the 7th book with the locket! D: ) and the mirror. (Pretty important with Aberforth...) But over-all they got the events down pretty well. 3nodding I wish the actress for Umbridge was more toady-like. ;_; And oh! They left out Marissa or whatever Cho's friend was and blamed it on Cho! Can't believe they did that. D< I really wanted to see 'SNEAK' on her face. 8DDD Also, the Fireworks scene, the busting out, the lack-of-the-swamp, was a bit of a let down. D: Not as big 'n flashy as I imagined.

Not my favorite since every one was older and everything, but still good. My favorite is probably the 1st or 4th. 3nodding

Okay. xD <3 It's a Harry Potter movie and for that I love it, but I'm still a little bummed about their leaving out all the Quidditch stuff. ;o; love useless character-fluff like that.

... Oo! Funny. xD (Sort of...)

When we sat down to see the movie, we were waiting for the commercials previews to start that lead of to the movie... waiting... waiting... the theatre was completely packed... waiting... then this guy who works at the theatre comes in and goes "Um... We had to change the showing to the other screen." So this entire theater of people goes barging for the next screen, trying to get good seats. xD (We managed to get there in time, and got our same seats.)

After the movie, I was livid. "OMG! Dumbledore's supposed to die! Snape kills Dumbledore at the end! WTF? How could they leave that out! And what about the HOCRUXES! JEEEZ!"... of course, after going on a rant and wondering why people were snickering if not flat out laughing, I realized that Dumbledore dies in the 6th book... and this was the 5th movie. xD I turned like beet-red.

Yeah, it sucked when they leave out so much quidditch. D: *loves quidditch*

Ouch, that stinks. o_o

XDD I get really confused when I just saw the 5th movie, then finished the 7th one. Lol!

CRAAAAP!

Sorry, but I hated the 5th movie. They left out tons of important things, expected you to understand everything they didn't explain, and just plain destroyed scenes in general. Did not like this movie. Even as a movie, I thought it was "okay."

That being said, I did complain to my boyfriend and his dad about the Dumbledore and Voldemort fight scene, only to have them tell me that actually DID happen in the books. ^^; That was my embarrassing moment.

Its okay. Every one has their likes and dislikes. Like me, who really really hated the 3rd movie. X(

Yeah, I liked all the HP movies as movies themselves-- although I'm iffy on the 5th one-- and ignoring that there are books, but when compared to the books I hated them all. And since it's hard to disregard the books... yeah, I was VERY disappointed in Movie 3 as well, especially since that was my absolute favorite for a long time. Now I dunno if I like that, HBP, or DH better.

I must day movie 5 is my favorite so far.

I had listen alot to MuggleCast and such, so I knew exactly what was going to be cut, St Mungos (my biggest dissappointment) Quidditch and so on. Book 5 (and 7) is my favorite book, but you can't think of that when they cram 700 pages into 2,25 hours. But unlike the other film, I think it really was good, it wasn't too fast-paced like GoF, or too fast-paced and boring like PoA.

And Umbridge, she was just. Prefect. I even liked Daniel Radcliffe in this movie more, he's gotten better.

Two that hasn't though, is Emma Watson and Michael Gambon. Erk ;__;

You do? I've allways liked her and Dan the least, but as I said, Dan's gotten loads better. Thank Equs! (But that kiss o__o Must've been the most forced thing I've ever seen)

Emma Watson's just as far from what I've pictured Hermione as you can get.

See, I personally like Emma-- although one of my friend's complaints about her was that her hair isn't poofy enough for Hermione (I concur)-- but don't like Daniel Radcliff that much.

I was... a little disappointed in Umbridge. Maybe it's because she didn't look the part to me, but I didn't see her as Umbridge. She was a good actress, but I always saw Umbridge as more simpering, and not as "motherly but really a b***h." Plus the fact that she was nothing like a toad, nor as fat, was a problem for me. Good actress, but not what I was looking for.

I thought she was brilliant! True, she wasn't fat or ugly enough, but that stuff doesn't really matter if the actor/ress is good, which she was. It's like, I don't like Emma Watson just because she doesn't look like Hermione, I dislike because I think she doesn't act like her.

I haven't like Daniel Radcliffe at all in the first four films, but in this, he wasn't that bad.

Agreed. Honestly, I didn't mind the actors. David Thewlis is a great actor, and since Remus is my ultimate favourite character in the WHOLE SERIES, it was really hard for me to see him with a Hilter-stash. But, I got used to it. Since it's Thewlis, I allowed it, although he did look funny with a 'stash. He's a great actor, I don't care what anyone says. Personality wise, he hit what I imagined of Remus dead on. I could've asked for anyone better. ^^

But... what killed me was... the werewolf. *DEATH!!* I can't even speak about it. Even before Harry Potter was created, I was a werewolf obsessor and that... I just... *goes and jumps off her roof*

*is revived, but only to speak about the fifth movie*

Honestly, I liked it. I agree, the lack of quidditch kills me a little inside, but there were some improvised scenes that I didn't totally disagree with. I liked Voldemort possessing Harry in the end in the Ministry, and I liked how they SE-ed it to make it look all cool. The thestrals were adorable and exactly how I pictured them. When I saw the foal... Gawd, I want one. XD I thought Umbridge was brilliant. The second I saw her I was like, "aah! WAY too much pink." I hated her, which is exactly what was the reaction I was supposed to have. She was evil. Pure, pure evil. She was the embodiment of evil. *stabba stabba*

And... did anyone catch that Sirius called Harry "James" after they finished dueling with Lucius? Anyone?!

Well, I know they left out a lot in that movie, however, in the previous movie, they didn't have anything else but the triwizard tournament. So to me it was a given, they spent more time filling in gaps that they didn't have in the fourth movie. So I can understand where you are coming from but watch them again and find out.

And as for the people complaining about the movies not being the same to the book, tell me this, when has a movie ever been the same as a book?
Now that that has been said, why would you continue to expect it when you already know the outcome, and besides, a lot of books have characters thoughts and opinions, those can't always be shown on screen so in turn again, some is lost.

Well that concludes my opinion, thank you for reading.

Good point I mean you cant really fit every single thought and action in a 2 hour movie or so it cant be done or its insane to do since their only human and pple do have different opinions about what part was important.
