Sooooo... what did you think of book 7? Did you cry? Did you laugh? Were you satisfied? How long did it take you to read? What else do you have to say about it?

First off....WHEE FOR HP RP GUILD!! *calms herself down*
Second, I went out and got the book at midnight when it came out. Of course with the lines, it was 1am when I got it. And it took until about 8am to read. I can't believe I cried so much, but so many people died! I was shocked she just knocked off Moody in the fourth chapter! And then all the suffering, and the fighting, and the quest just to get the horcrux, only to be interrupted with the hallows. Eesh!
I was sooooo unbelievably upset at JK about Fred, Remus and Tonks. That wasn't FAIR! She took George's ear, and then his twin?!?! *whacks her* And Remus just had a son when he and Tonks died. *sigh* I sobbed. Surprisingly enough, I wasn't really upset about Snape's death although I knew he was a good guy. But...YAY that Harry finally knew.

I would like you to know that you are officially the first nonstaff poster. How totally exciting is that? I'm super psyched you joined and stuff, I'm incredibly excited about the guild. What do you think of it. What should we add?
And yes... book 7 was amazing. It always took me till 1am to get my book even though I got in line at 11pm. Can you believe I was 600th in line. It was CRAZY. It took me till 7:30pm that night to finish it, because I collapsed on my book and slept for a full eight hours. I sobbed horribly through the whole book. I can't stand surprises, so one of my best friends was telling me everything that happened before I read it (she finished it way faster than me) and I still cried horribly over everything. Some of the deaths, like Dobby, were hard because they were so dramatic, and other deaths were really hard, like Tonks and Lupin, because they weren't. It was a great mix, and I loved the way she did it. But gods.
Also, in our RP, George still makes the joke shop - in Fred's memory. So we'll have all that to play with whee
What's interesting is the thing I cried the hardest over is when Hermione tells Ron and Harry that when she modified her parents memories, she made them believe they didn't have a daughter. In case she died. I don't know why, but I found that so incredibly sad. Somehow it was sadder to me than the deaths...

Wow! I feel all special now! I think the guild is a marvelous idea. I've been wanting to RP Harry Potter for so long now, but all the old sites I was on died. *sigh* So this excites me so much! I prefer future HP RPs anyway, so YAY!
I was so upset over Fred that I nearly threw the book, lol. I was just so mad. And when Hermione said her parents didn't know they had a daughter anymore, I teared up. I'm a mom, and I couldn't imagine anything worse than not knowing I had kids. Well, that and I'm pregnant so I'm overly emotional at the moment anyway, lol. Dobby's death shocked me, and poor Hedwig was out of nowhere.
It's awesome that you're going to have the joke shop still! That's going to be fun! I just need to fill out the form. I'm such a stickler for details, so it may take a while. XD

I'm so happy you like it. And I can't wait to see your form. I'm not really a detail person (you can probably tell from the guild) but I love to read other people's detailed stuff. Do you know anyone else that you think might wanna join?
I can't imagine what it would be like to read those books as a parent. But I love how the books can span such an age range, I started reading when I was 11 (am now nearly 21) and so to me they are young adult books, but then my dear sweet mother who is over 50 has her own set of Gryffindor house robes. So it's like, well, not really a young adult book. But my little sister who just turned 11 this year, has read all the book a billion times, and she slides around in Ravenclaw robes. So, it's like, for everyone. I really don't know of any other books that have that same draw. There are certainly books I read in middle school that many adults read, but I was an advanced reader. There are many children's books that adults read and enjoy, but do they have the same loyalty that Harry Potter produces? I mean, when Narina came out, they were kid's books through and through, and you couldn't pay my youngest sister to be interested in Lord of the Rings despite her incredibly high reading level. There's just a magic to Harry Potter that is untouched by other books.
And wow... that turned into a much longer escapade than I expected... sweatdrop

It's wonderful that your family likes them too. My sister enjoys them a lot and goes with me to the midnight releases. My mom likes the books too, and read them outloud to my 20 year old sister, lol. It's kinda cute. My daughter is 4 and I read Harry Potter to her and she sits there wide-eyed. It's the most precious thing.
And I really don't think there is any other book series out there with this type of pull. To be honest I didn't think much of it until there was a big fuss over Utah banning the books. Then I thought it may be worth reading if it's being banned, lol. And that's when it all started with me. But I was instantly hooked, and pulled my mom and sister with me. I read Narnia when I was in the first grade. I read the Hobbit in middle school, and tried to read LOTR, but I just couldn't get in to the writing. The story is great, but Tolkein's writing style isn't something I can read. I tried, but it was no use. Harry Potter has an easy going style that relates to anyone really. Plus it has themes only adults would pick up, as well as themes for young children. I think the series itself has grown with the main characters, and that makes it a nice change too. I haven't been able to get my husband to read them, but he enjoys the movies. He does get to hear me rant about something being obviously different in the movie than in the book, or when they leave stuff out, etc. Poor guy should probably buy a pair of ear plugs. XD
Wow....that was a mouthful.

My family got into them because of me, too. I started reading them before they even hit the States (yay for British boarding schools and the geeks they contain), and it took several years for me to get my mother/brother/sisters to read them. But now they all like them to. Then there were some days with not much to do and sewing machine. And robes happened. But yeah.
I never understood the whole banning of them. I was amused the other day. My mom works at a Christian school, and she comes home the other day and tells me that she's got, for the first time in her entire career, a truly evil child in her class. Everyday we get an update on this little girl. And one of the days my mom was like "so the evil girls says me to be today that in Harry Potter "the magic has to come from somewhere, and if it's not from God it's from Satan!" and I say back to her "no, the magic is written word and computer graphics."" rofl But I'm anti-organized religion, so when things like Christianity Today publishes articles titled "We Know Who Dies In The Harry Potter Books - God" I just laugh hysterically. I can't help myself sometimes. I mean, the only difference between J.K. Rowling having elves in her books and J. R. R. Tolkien having elves in his book is that Tolkien went to church and wrote devotionals and Rowling didn't. Does that honestly mean that Rowling is corrupting youth for sake of devil worship? I really highly doubt that...
Wow... another rant. I'm two for two now. sweatdrop

My mother-in-law fancies herself to be a good Christian woman, and she won't let her sons that still live with her read anything fantasy. It's funny because they come to my house to watch Harry Potter, and other fantasy movies. I let them borrow my Dragonlance books, because she won't let them read them. She puts down everything Harry Potter. She even had the nerve to tell her sons that JK Rowling stole the story. She said someone in 1900 wrote the books, and now she's putting her name on them. I mean, seriously. She won't my kids watch Spongebob Squarepants when they're over there because "it will make them gay". *sigh* All I can say is I'm glad my husband didn't turn out that way. I just really feel sorry for people that close-minded.

*pokes in* Thank you for inviting me Skada ^^ i looked at your guild before receiving the pm and thought "it's great i will ask her if i can join" you read my mind heart heart
I bought the book Monday at noon because i can't before. I use 3 afternoon to read it (yeh i took 36h but it's must difficult for me to read in English than in French blaugh ). When i closed the book i cried. It was all the feelings at once, the sadness of Fred, Tonk and Remus death (and the others of course), the horcruxes research so difficult and the fact that well it's finish. It's my fav book so far, the greatest one, even if i still like the others. But this one is too much ^^.
I don't start Harry Potter when it come out, i start in 2002 i think, after the first movie. But i'm completely in, if Hogwarts exist i would die to be part of this world. 3nodding
I would like Gryffindor robes, your are lucky Skada ^^

I was very satisfied with the books ending. The epilogue really set it off. Haha, maybe J.K made it for crazed fans to play with. 8DD
*cough* Anyhow, all the deaths were really sad and stuff, but I never cried. I mean, even in the other books, I never cried or got really emotional. I don't really get emotional and upset about these things. (Okay maybe there was this one time when my all time favorite character [Seriously, I LOVE him <33 Is that unhealthy 8DDD?] nearly died. That I got really freaked out about. cool ) Maybe its because I'm just a silly little 13-year-old? I'll never know. But I started reading HP maybe when I was 8? Then for a bit I didn't get it, so I was like, screw this crap! So for the longest time I knew nothing about them. XD Then, for 5th grade my school has this 'Hogwarts at Hamilton' (the name of my school) where we get to sleep over at the school and do all sorts of fun stuff. <3 I was in Ravenclaw! Anyways, before that I knew nothing, so on a trip to NY before the event, on the 3-hr trip there and back I read like, the first 4 of them. x3 I didn't get car sick. 8D
Okay that was a bunch of useless info...>>;;
I've recently been in NY for 2 weeks with family when the book came out, so I had to wait till I got back (now) to read it. It took me 2 days. >>;; Only because I had other stuff to do. ;_; But I took it with me everywhere. XD My sister was like, Omg! You're gonna get crap on it!
Over-all, I really liked the 7th and all the others. <33 But the 2nd is probably my favorite. 3nodding

First off... Thank you Skada for making this guild. xd
Overall I liked the book. Though Harry was beginning to get annoying again the all of the 'Dumbledore doesn't trust me...' & whatnot. But I cried a lot during the book. I think I cried whenever someone died or had a close call. I swear I almost used up a whole tissue box! I think JKR could have gone into more detail during the final battle, but it was still good how she did it.
And... yeah. Short 'n sweet. heart

I agree! Even though this wasn't one of Harry's angst attack books (Thank god for that) it was pretty annoying when he got all pissed off at Dumb-ledore 'not trusting him' and crap.
Favorite line: NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU b***h!
heart heart Love for Molly XDDD *puts in her sig*
I'm sort of happy and sort of sad the series ended...I don't know why. =/
Omg, in the epilogue, I was laughing so hard cause they had so many freaking children! XDDDD

XDDDD Hello! This is my first post in the guild. =) I really agree with you with your Molly Weasley appreciation. That was also one my favourite lines. I also thought the epilogue was hilarious. It made me laugh particularly when we found out there was a child named Albus Severus Potter. XD Ron cheated in his driving test...not too surprised about that! I thought it was all a bit perfect to be honest. Draco not talking to Harry, Ron and Hermione still I thought was a bit bitter of him considering Harry had saved his life. Ah well, all the rest of the book was amazing, I thought.
