Allright, So my mom is going through menopause right now, which is only really important to you folks because one of her magazines on that has brought you this post. The Magazine is called "Me: My entertainment, My empowerment" and this edition (july/August 2007)'s letter from the editor got me thinking, and made me want to share.

"True Confession time.

Every night I allow myself to be seduced by an eclectic collection of men...or women. Last night it could have been Eliot Pattison, John Kennedy Toole or His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Walter Mosely on standby.

All four are VERY good in bed... they whisk me to worlds I have not visited, encountering people and experiences to broaden my personal collection. From Shan, a former Chinese inspector in a now Chinese-ravaged Tibet, or Ignatius J. Reilly, "huge, obese, fractious....a Don Quixote of the French Quarter" to Easy Rawlings, who lived in LA in the 50s as a black "Entrepreneut"--all provide a little escape to feed my mind. While the Dalai Lama feeds my soul and lifts my spirit.

I love reading. And writing. My dad was a writer... at 2 a.m. after spending his day as an X-ray technician and gardener and father. He self-published one book, "The last farewell." I have a box and an old suitcase of his manuscripts that I have moved with me 18 times. At some point, I will be able to open the box and suitcase. But I think I fear that all his writing will have been for naught, and despite my personal success as a writer which was, I am sure, inspired by my father in yet another attempt to gain his approval, I have been haunted for years by a comment from my ex-husband: "Writing is not a real job."

To be honest, there is NOTHING more "job-like" than writing, as all of the fabulous authors in our special issue can attest. Writing--like reading--is a singular, and ofttimes, lonely occupation. It isn't something one does for the bucks...it is something you do because you MUST tell a story, share a world, express a fleeting moment. It is something that comes from a place you can't box up...until it is boxed up for you at the end...in a suitcase.

As with reading, you write for your "self," with the hope that someone, someplace may find you good in bed.

If you are a reader, enjoy the escape. If you are a writer, kudos from one to another. If you want to write, pick up a pen or pencil or crayon. The secret to writing is writing.

Sincerely,
Jeanie Linders
Publisher/Editor. "

I agree sincerly.... in fact this has inspired me to contiune a story that is rather dark and depressing, I've been wanting to write just as I have been want to write my gaint baby (it is the story that has not plot simple the beginnings of a world far bigger than even I can comprehend...I believe it will be my great masterpiece...but alas not a word has been writen) but it just hasn't flowed....

anyways the letter is quite true.

But your job is not writing if you are a writer, your life is writing... since I've started writing there hasn't been a moment where I have stoped.... I don't need a paper or a pen to write, I just need my mind...and I don't believe there will be a moment where I will stop writing...

I don't know about the rest of you but, as with reading, I do not write my words (or read them) I live them...

There are my thoughts now I'm off to write while the moons are happy!
