Arasi crept along after an oblivious beetle, stalking low in the grass with his tail waving in the air behind him. Considering he was into his adolescence by now, with the healthy beginnings of a mane, it probably made for an odd picture, but hey! He was bored! And he didn't want to go through the trouble of finding one of his brothers to wrestle - the lands were a pretty big place, after all.
So, beetle-hunting it was; the other plus, of course, was that the bettle was scuttling along in the shade of a tree, and being so darkly-pelted, Arasi had a great appreciation for shade. What was he so black for, anyway? Two of his brothers were yellow, and the other one was brown! It was so not fair.

Had the pridelands had access to James Bond movies, Sen would've been singing her own theme song as if she was in one as she slowly, slooowly (alright, not THAT slowly) scampered along behind the male.
The mission? Follow.
Why? Well...
Sen had never thought about why. It was just something she did. Like breathing. Or blinking. Why not?
The current target was... hunting. Hunting beetles? Was he not good enough to get anything actually worth killing? Sen nodded silently to herself, deciding he must be one of those 'special' lions she'd talked about with Daddy once.
Snap! A twig she hadn't noticed until she'd stepped on it cracked beneath her back foot.
Abort mission! Abort mission!
With a (not-so-) mighty squeak, the young lioness dove behind the nearest tree. Although, the nearest tree was not that near, and she actually had to run behind it, but never mind small details like that.
Cautiously, she peered out from behind her 'camoflauge' to see if she'd been noticed.

Arasi had just been getting ready to slap one large paw down on the unfortunate beetle when suddenly there was a series of noises behind him, and his 'prey' took flight. H-Hey! His beetle was gone!
More disappointed than he was startled, the adolescent turned, looking for the culprit. "Hey, who's there?"
His question was soon answered, though, when a pair of light green eyes set in a pale face peeked out from behind the tree. "What're you up to, huh?"

In her days as a cub, Sen openly followed other lions. Directly behind them, even. But she wasn't a cub anymore. She was far too old for that game.
Now, she was a spy. Cubs couldn't be spies. It was a rule.
Another squeak and she hid completely behind the trunk, staring at the ground in thought so intense one would think she was musing over the meaning of life. What to do, what to do?
She could run! But no, Sen never ran. Only cowards did that, and she most certainly was not one of those.
Time for Plan B!
Plan B consisted of staying very, very still, and hoping he forgot she was there.

The adolescent blinked, sidling around the tree to see if he could get a better look at the younger lion. "Hello? C'mon, I know you're there! Don't make me, uh..." his threat was slow to come as he tried to actually think of one, "I'll pounce on you!"
To emphasize his seriousness, he crouched in readiness, just in case it decided to keep being difficult.

As he turned around the tree, Sen slunk around the other way. Oh-ho! She was truly brilliance in a physical form, the pridelander thought with a snort.
Pounce on her? He wouldn't dare! ...Would he? This situation was mildly familiar. There was a similar one she'd been in with that no good yellow cub! And he had pounced on her!
Determined not to run, Sen sprang out in front of the adolescent, crouched down in the same pose as he with the exception of her behind (which wiggled in what she thought was a threatening way, but to the eyes of others it was just laughable).
"I'll pounce on you!" she echoed.
So there!

Aha! There it was! It almost got a reprieve from his threat, but then it challenged him. Oh, it was so on now!
"Not if I pounce you first!" He growled with play-ferocity, springing to tackle the younger Pridelander just as he would any of his brothers, unmindful of the fact that 1) this was not one of his brothers and 2) it was smaller than he was. He'd never played with anyone younger than him.

W-What? This wasn't how it was suppose to happen! He was suppose to be annoyed she was mimicing him and--
Eeek!
Sen's eyes widened and she turned to dash away (screw not running, she had nothing to prove, when she thought about it), but she'd barely managed to turn before the other lion was pinning her to the ground.
Oh no he didn't!
Annoyed, Sen squirmed her way out from under him and pounced on his side, tiny teeth that hadn't developed anymore yet since she was a cub gnawing on one of his ears.
She was totally winning.

"Hah!" he declared proudly once he had the other lion underneath him. "Gotchya!" Except it was wiggly, and the next thing he knew he didn't have anything but ground under him!
"H-Hey!" the male protested, finding this tricky and vastly unfair - and that was before he got his ear gnawed on! With a feline yelp, he reared up only to deilberately topple over, hopping to dislodge his assailant.

Well, Sen was clearly not expecting that, and her hold on her opponent was not near as good as she'd thought, if the fact she was flung across the ground said anything.
Discouraged, but far from down-and-out, she hurried back to all fours and shook the dust off. Oh, the horrors of being a white lion.
Crouching down a second time, she sprang forward again, hoping to catch is tail this time.

Haha! He was winning - awesome! He had only a moment to preen, however, because in short order he found his tail under cruel attack. He did his best to turn to face her, regardless of whether she kept her hold on his tail, and tried to roll her away with a swat of his paw.
"Stop that, you little squirt!" He wasn't deliberately being mean, but he didn't understand that what you could do and say to your brothers wasn't necessarily acceptable when dealing with anyone else.

To Sen, it was plenty acceptable. In fact, she took his words as a surrender. Which, of course, meant she had won. Oooh. Victory was indeed sweet.
Releasing his tail, the cub stepped back and shook her fur again. Despite her efforts to avoid it, the squabble had left it tinted brown. Dirt was evil. --What was a 'squirt', anyway?
It was only then Sen realized her game had been completely ruined. The older she got, the harder it became to play, because apparently it wasn't as cute when you were old enough to know better.
Green eyes followed the insect as it landed just a few feet away. "Hey, it's that beetle that showed you up," Sen pointed out.

In Arasi's mind, he was the victor. His tail wasn't under attack anymore, that was for sure! As she pointed out the return of the beetle he'd been stalking in his boredom, he huffed. "The beetle you scared away, you mean."
Wait...why did she know about the beetle anyway? "What were you sneaking around for, squirt?"

"Not my fault you're not fast enough," was Sen's response. It wasn't her fault he was one of those lions. He should be blaming his parents. Just like she could blame hers for being white.
She still had no idea what that meant, but she had a feeling she shouldn't like being called it. "My name is Sen!" corrected the cub in a proud voice. "And I'm a spy, so I was...spying."

"Oh please. I could have had it any time I wanted! I was just toying with it, that's all." Arasi huffed. Had he been this annoying as a kid? No way! It just wasn't possible.
"Well my name's Arasi, squirt," he replied childishly continuing to call her that despite her obvious insistence that he not. "And you're not a very good spy. I could do better than that."
