Yes! Moonie's writing yet another fan fic. Hooray!
This is rated PG-13 for language.
I do not know the members of MCR. I don't own them. This is purely fiction, and as such, is bending reality. Yay for twisting reality!

Chapter One
The first day of school, I realized things were going to be weird. The first indication was that our new art teacher (My school is a very small one- 300 students, so we only have one art teacher) was too good of an artist to be stuck in a teacher's postition. The second indication was that he looked exactly like Gerard Way. The whole first period (when I had art), I couldn't help but stare at him confusedly. True, he had longish brown hair instead of short black hair. And also true, his name was Gerald Rush and he wore glasses. But what with his facil structure and his name being too close to Gerard's, I was pretty suspicious. The first day of school, I walked in the art room, set down my bag, and immediatly began reading. As Mr. Rush walked by me, he said in passing, "Nice backpack." I quickly looked at my bag and then at him. The bag I had brought to school that day was my MCR bag. That's not what made me jumpy, however. What made me jumpy was I thought that Gerard Way was at my school. But it was only the new teacher. "O-oh, um, thanks Mr. Rush..." but by the time I finished the sentance, he had already gone into his office to get his lesson plans. I sighed and set down my book as my classmates began to file in. "Hey, Melody, what time's the death cult meeting?" "Let's see your wrists, emo!" "Stalked a band lately, loser?" I was not the most popular girl in school. Because there was so few of us, they basically knew everything about me, which wasn't necessarily a good thing. They knew about my obession with My Chemical Romance, and because I wore black, they called me emo, which couldn't be more wrong. I was punk, Goddamnit. They didn't seem to understand that, however, and insisted on calling me false things. I gave most of them my famous death glare, and turned back to my reading. Then Mr. Rush came back in the room. "Well, I've seemed to have lost the lesson plan for today, so it's a free draw. I'll go ahead and take attendance." The atmosphere in the class seemed to lift almost immediately. I took out my drawing pad and began to sketch absent-mindedly. "What didja draw the teacher for, weirdo?" I jumped, looked up at my classmate, and looked back down at my drawing. I frowned. "I drew Gerard Way, not Mr. Rush." "It looks like Mr. Rush." "Well, it's not." "Whatever, freak." They went away, and I looked back down at my paper. There was Gerard way, all decked-out in his black blazer and red tie, singing into a microphone. I went back to sketching and got so absorbed in it that I didn't hear the teacher. "...Greer? Melody Greer?" I put my hand up without looking from my paper. "Here, Mr. Rush." I then allowed myself to be lost in the drawing. Forty-five minutes later, my drawing was complete. I had drawn a scene from a concert I had been to: Gerard singing into the microphone and in the action of running his hand down his front, leaning against Frank. Mikey was next to them, shaking his head and smirking. That was all I had room for on the paper. I felt a little regretful that I didn't have the space to put in Bob or Ray. I stared down at the drawing, frowning a bit until I felt someone looking over my shoulder. I looked up and saw Mr. Rush. "Oh, hey, Mr. Rush. Um...what's up?" He stared at my picture with his hand over his mouth and his eyes squinted in concentration. "Did you draw that yourself?" he asked. I nodded. "Yeah. Why?" "See me after school." I stared in disbelief as my classmates jeered at my misfortune. Mr. Rush walked away, and I turned back to my drawing, my cheeks flushing with anger. I was given detention for nothing! Did he not believe me when I said I drew that? What was going on?!

Chapter Two
After school was over, I headed towards Mr. Rush's office. As I neared the door, I heard Mr. Rush talking on his cell phone. "I don't care what Frank told you, Mikey. You're not supposed to stick a fork in the toaster! I...Yes, I know you had to get the toast out, but forks are metal! They conduct electricity! You're suposed to unplug the damn thing! Okay, whatever. Talk to you later. Bye." I stuck my head in and gaped. There he was, his head in his hands, his brown hair and glasses laying next to him on the table. He ran his hair through his short black hair. I couldn't believe it. I was right! Mr. Rush was Gerard Way. I quickly went back out into the hallway before he could see me. I took a few deep breaths and knocked on his door, giving him some time to get himself together. "One minute!" He called out. I heard the rustling of him putting his wig and glasses back on. He then opened the door and smiled at me. "Hi Melody. Come on in. I wanted to talk to you about something." He held his door open to let me in. I walked in and sat down. He sat in a chair opposite me. "So, what's up Mr. Rush?" I was trying to not give away the fact that I knew who he was, but I didn't think I would be able to keep it up for the whole of this meeting. "I just wanted to talk to you about that drawing you did in class today." "Was there something wrong with it?" "No, no, on the contrary. It was the best drawing I've ever seen of that band." Just then his face changed ever so slightly, and only for a moment. It was as if he didn't mean to say that. "Oh. You've heard of My Chemical Romance, sir?" I narrowed my eyes, interested in how he was going to cover this up. "Yes, I have. I...I rather like them." "And what do you think of the lead singer...sir?" I was testing him, and I was pretty sure he knew it. It was now his turn to narrow his eyes. "He's interesting enough." The pressure was too much for me, and I started laughing. "He sure is! So, why did you call me after school to talk about the picture? If you wanted to compliment it, I'm sure you could've done it in class." He looked relieved at the subject change, and talked freely. "Well, I just want you to consider going to an art-based high school next year. Like the one in Baltimore, for instance. I think you have potential, and I wouldn't want all that talent to go to waste." I thought about this. The fact that Gerard Way, an excellent artist himself, was telling me that I was talented was a huge deal. I nodded. "Yeah, I'll talk it over with my parents and see what happens." "Good. Alright, that's all I wanted to talk about. See you tomorrow, Melody." I got up, grabbed my bag and headed towards the door. As I walked out, I decided to take a risk. "Bye, Mr. Way." I said, and looked over my shoulder to see his reaction. His face had a mask of shock upon it, and I smirked. I walked out, and I heard him rushing after me. "Melody, wait! Hold up a sec!" I turned around to face him, and he beckoned me to come back into his office. I walked back, and he closed the door behind me. I sat down in the chair, watching him as he sat across from me. He took off his wig and glasses, and there was the Gerard Way that I knew and loved. "So..." he said, looking like he was at a loss for words. I decided to help him out. "Yeah. I heard you talking to Mikey, Mr. Way. And I saw you without the wig and glasses. Why the disguise?" "Gerard." "What?" "Call me Gerard." "Gerard, then." "I decided to start teaching to get a little extra money. I'm going to be buying a house soon, and I need all the money I can get. My girlfriend's doing the same." "She's teaching?" "Yeah. She's actually teaching math at this school." I blanched at this statement and thought about it. I gasped. "Ms. Drake is your girlfriend?!" "Yeah." "I knew it! Anyway, why did you decide to teach art?" "Music would be too obvious." "Yeah, it would, wouldn't it?" "And so...now you know my 'secret identity'. What happens now?" I thought about it. "Nothing, I suppose. Oh, but what would be really cool is you could punish my classmates if they ever make fun of me for liking you all." "They make fun of you for that?" "Endlessly so." "Okay then. I will. Those little bastards should know better than to mess with the MCRmy!" He punched his fist in the air and I laughed. I could tell that this was going to be an interesting friendship.

I want to get as much of my story out before I leave for Toronto tomorrow, so... yay for a lot of updates!
Chapter Three
The next day, I walked in to school to be greeted by jeering and taunting. "What'd Mr. Rush want ya for, freak?" "Probably to join his weirdo club!" "Yeah, he likes that emo band, too! They probably got together to geek out about the emo-ness of it all!" This was greeted with laughter, and something inside me snapped. I grabbed the person who said that last comment, and slammed him against the wall. His mocking mask was replaced with one of fear. "You think you're better than me?" I snarled in his face. I tore him away from the wall only to force him back, his head connecting with concrete with a loud smack. I turned him around, twisted his arms behind his back, and forced him back into the wall police-style. "You think you're better than me, scumbag?! You ain't better than me! You ain't NOTHING! I eat ******** pansies like you for BREAKFAST! Well? Still think you're better than me?" I threw him to the ground, vaguely wondering where the teachers were, but not really caring. "Never," I said quietly, panting. I looked up at the rest of my classmates, who were speechless and had looks of horror on their faces. "And that goes for the rest of you ********! NEVER. Make fun of ANYTHING I like EVER AGAIN! Do you hear me? I will beat the s**t right out of you! Don't mess with the MCRmy!" I turned around, flicked my hair, and stalked off to first period. I walked to the art room, and nobody was in yet. I think they were still in shock from my outburst. I set my bag down at a table and headed for Gerard's office. I knocked on the door. "Come in!" He called, and I walked in. Gerard was sitting in his chair, his wig and glasses off. He spun around to face me. "What's up Melody?" "Um..." I shifted my weight several times and looked down. What I had done was beginning to hit me. I sank down to the floor and felt the blood rush out of my head. "I, uh...I kinda snapped." I looked up, and Gerard had a look of confusion. "How so?" "I slammed a kid into a wall and verbally abused the rest of the class." My eyes went down again. There was a slight pause in which I heard Gerard shift in his seat. Then he started laughing. "Oh my God! That's ******** awesome! Oh, jeez." I looked up in surprise, and Gerard was doubled over in laughter, wiping tears from his eyes. "Aw, man. I wish I had done that when I was your age. Okay, yeah. I can see you're kinda freakin' out about it. Don't worry. Did any other teachers see you?" I shook my head. "Okay. You won't get in trouble then. If any kids turn you in, I'll take care of it, okay?" I smiled and nodded. I quickly stood up. "Thanks, Gerard. I owe you." "You don't owe me anything. I'm happy to help." I grinned and went back out to the classroom. Still nobody was in it, and I sat down quickly, taking out my sketchbook. As I drew, the other kids slowly filed in. They gave me fearful glares and sat as far away from me as possible. Gerard came in as Mr. Rush, with his wig and glasses, saw everybody avoiding me, and covered his mouth to keep from laughing. His laughter was infectious, and I had to duck down to hide mine.

Chapter Four
The rest of the day was normal except for the whole avoidance thing. I went about my regular schedule until lunch, when things got stirred up. I was sitting in the lunch room, eating my sandwich, when the vice principal came up to me. "Melody Greer?" she asked. I looked up, the turkey falling out from between the bread. "Yes?" I asked. "Would you please accompany me to my office?" "Sure." I packed up the rest of my lunch and followed her into the office. Gerard was standing beside the desk, looking furious. "I don't know why this is necessary. I've already told you what happened." "Yes, Mr. Rush, but we just want to make sure that the story checks out." He glared at her and sat down. I sat in the chair next to him. "What's going on?" I asked, a bit fearfully. "Miss Greer," said the Vice Principal, sitting down behind her desk. "One of our students has made a complaint about you. Apparently many of them saw you abusing Chad Williams this morning. What do you have to say to that?" I looked disbelievingly at her, then at Gerard. He looked back at me, his eyes wide, and I suddenly understood what I was supposed to say. "I was in Mr. Rush's office this morning, Ms. Craine. We were talking about my career in the visual arts, and I was nowhere near Chad Williams. I try to avoid him and his friends." "And why is that, Miss Greer?" she looked over her glasses at me. Gerard answered for me. "They pick on her relentlessly. That's probably why they're lying about her beating Chad up. She came to my office looking for help because they were picking on her, and that's when we started talking about her future. Melody would never hurt anyone. I'm a new teacher here, but am I correct in assuming she's never caused any trouble while she's been at this school?" Ms. Craine nodded. "Yes you are. Alright, Melody. I'm sorry for bothering you. You can go back to your lunch now." I smiled and stood up. While my back was to her, I gave Gerard a relieved look and mouthed 'Thank you.' He nodded slightly and smiled. I walked out of that office feeling better than I had in a long time. When I went back to the lunch room, most everyone was staring at me. I sat down, took out my lunch, and began eating. I looked up to see Chad staring at me. I winked and gave him a smirk, and his face melted from overbearing confidence to an expression of doubt. I settled back and enjoyed my turkey sandwich on rye.

Chapter Five
For the next few days, I spent mornings before school in Gerard's office, talking with him and Ms. Drake. She was actually really nice and informal, even though she was my teacher. She told me to call her Gwen- even in class. Some of my classmates decided to make smart remarks about that, but she told them to shut up, that I earned the right to call her by her first name because I was the only one getting an A in that class. They shut up almost immediately. So, in the mornings, Gwen and I would go to Gerard's office, and we would hang out before classes started. They were both really nice. I learned all sorts of things about them. I learned how they met, and how Gwen would need to slap sense into Gerard a couple of times. I laughed uncontrollably when she told me how one time when he was high, she had to punch in the face to keep him from going outside. She was a bit embarassed about that, but Gerard and I thought it was hilarious.
Because of my earlier outburst, unexpectedly, I had made a friend. A girl I had seen around the school but never talked to came up to me at my locker. "Hi," she said, shuffling a bit. "I saw what you did to Chad the other day. I thought that was really brave." "Thanks." I said, rather confused. "They make fun of me, too." "Do they?" I was taken aback. I was surprised I had never seen them tormenting her. "Yeah. I like MCR, too. I just never talked to you 'cause I was too shy. I was afraid that they would make fun of us more, if we were friends." "Well, you know what they say, 'there're strength in numbers.' It's true, you know. What's your name?" "Carrie." "I'm Melody. Nice to meet you." I held out my hand with a grin and she shook it, smiling. I then grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the art room. "C'mon," I said. "There's someone I really want you to meet."
