 Aylen gently blinked her eyes as she walked around ever so quietly. Her jet black eyes seemed to look around as though something was going to pop out of no where and eat her alive. She took a deep breath and continued on her lonely walk to what seemed to be no where. Aylen's tricolored ears kept twisting back and fourth trying to catch every sound that there was to hear. The skittish female flapped her pure white wings so that she was just barely hovering over the ground for a quick getaway if there was something that would pounce on her.

 Usiku was laying in long grass near a path pleasantly sleeping. The best time for him to sleep was always during the night though since his colors gave him camoflauge. Suddenly, an itch on his ear woke him up. Itching it, he went back to sleep, but a few minutes later a noise of wings flapping awoke him once again. Grumbling, he opened his eyes and scanned his surroundings. As he did this, he saw another blue malu.

Aylen's white wings continued to flap quickly as she looked around. The white around her eyes seemed to make her black eyes stand out. A small shuffle of movement made Aylen flap her wings a little fast so that she was a little higher in the air as she slowly made her way over towards the other Malu. "Um... Hello?" She asked in a soft soothing voice. Aylen flicked her black and white tail as she looked over the long blades of grass that blocked her view of the little Malu that was laying in front of her.

Usiku looked up at the other malu with his big blue eyes, almost in a frightened look. "Hi?" he said, not knowing what to tell her. She was a pretty malu. Blue in color, just like him, only lighter. She also had speckles and stripes, but the thing that caught his eye the most were her eyes. They were as black as night. Usiku liked nightime... a lot. "What would your name be?" the small malu asked, slightly cautious.

As the little malu came into view, as Aylen smiled sweetly. He looked a little like herself, since he also had speckles on his back as she did. His dark blue colors were a mixture of his black and light blue coloring. This little one could almost be a son to her. "I'm Aylen, and you are?" She asked as her tail flicked again and she let her wings stop and she landed on her front paws and her rear hooves.

Since Aylen didn't seem like any harm, Usiku smiled back. "I'm Usiku." he told her, eyeing at how taller she was then himself. This was the first other malu he'd ever met since his parents, but he didn't remember anything abour his parents, let alone having any memories of them. Usiku looked at Aylen's wings and wondered... "Will I ever get wings like you? I want to fly!" And as he said this, he started jumping and kicking, giggling.

Aylen looked at the little Malu child and felt a little part of her heart collapse. She didn't want to ruin this one's dream at flying, but she knew that he wouldn't ever grow wings like herself, or else he would have them by now. Maybe she could somehow explain to him that he could fly spiritually? The female preped herself as she nodded her head a little. "Well my dear, you never know with these things." Was all she could spit out without feeling too horrible.

Usiku tilted his head a little confused, but accepted her answer. He wondered how nobody could know for sure, but he sure hoped he would fly someday.
"So where are you going, Aylen? Can I come too?" Ever since he was a baby, he hated being alone. He'd make his siblings stay with him, even though his momma wouldn't let her little ones wander too far off anyways. But as him and his siblings grew up together, they went on adventures more frequently. This is how he became to be living alone and fending for himself. Usiku wondered if his siblings blamed themselves for losing their own brother, but he sure hoped not and hoped his momma didn't go too hard on them either. But his siblings were about the only malus he really had a few memories of, ironically.

Aylen's black eyes looked down at the little Malu's bright blue eyes and she gently smiled.
Her head tilted as well a little. "Where is your family Usiku?" She asked lowering her head a little to his level. The older Malu had never met a little baby malu, so she didn't quite know what to say to the one standing infront of her. "I'm just out on a walk... not going anywhere specific..." She answered, and continued with a soft smil, "But, of course you can come with me. Two is always better than one... Am I correct?" For some strange reason, Aylen liked this little Malu as though she had known him for a long time.

Usiku frowned at the question about his family. "I don't know... me and my brothers and sisters were out playing. I saw a grasshopper and tried catching it to bring home and show to my momma, but then when I wanted to show my brothers and sisters first, I turned around and they were gone..." He doubted he would ever find his family again. His mother, brothers, and sisters were all planning to move since all of them were getting too big for their home at the time. He had no idea where they'd be.
At the sound of Aylen saying that he was welcome to come, Usiku's eyes light up almost on cue. Maybe he could finally come something close to having a family again after a couple weeks of being by himself, or at the very least... not be alone anymore and make a new friend.

Aylen's heart seemed to sink whenever she heard his story about his family missing. Maybe she could take in this little Malu as her own and raise him like a mother would her baby. "I'm sorry, but you are welcomed to stay with me as long as you need." She offered knowing that it was not good for little Malus to live on their own, especially with all the dangers that were out there.
Seeing the little Malu's eyes light up, Aylen felt as though she could lift the world with one of her paws. Maybe, just maybe they could find this little Malu's family. If not, maybe they could be like family? Shrugging at her thoughts, she turned her attention back to the little Malu. "So, what would you like to do? Go look for your family? I would gladly help you." She said extatic that she wasn't alone anymore.

Usiku smiled at the offer of a home. He would have someone to look after him again. "I'd like that." he told the motherly malu, nudging her leg. He missed his family, but this would do for now. Maybe Aylen could become something like his second mother... or his new mother?
Thinking about about her question for a couple seconds, he figured it would be difficult to find his family again. "Well... I want to and we could try, but I don't know where they are. I really don't remember where my old home even was... it's so far away. And my momma was planning on moving us soon too. What if they moved a long ways away?" he asked, looking for comfort. He teared up thinking about how he may never see his family again, but most of all, it was more likely he wasn't and they were gone forever. Usiku tried keeping strong though.

Aylen smiled and looked down to the little Malu. Hopefully she could help the little Malu feel better and maybe have a new family with Aylen as his mother. Sadly, the little Malu wouldn't have a foster father or any siblings.
"Oh... I will help you the best I can to find your family." The older malu said smiling at the little Malu that had no hope in finding his family. Aylen didn't want to get his hopes up, but she didn't want him to feel any worse then he was already feeling. When his eyes watered up, she lowered her head and gently rubbed him with her head in a comforting way.

"Where will we look?" he asked. Usiku figured it to be nearly impossible to find them again, but he didn't want to give up all hope either. It was probably best to look around just in case. He had an adult to help him after all.
