I got this game the first day it was out and was glued to the TV screen for hours, playing diligently like any FF enthusiest would. Unforunately though, over time, I became really disappointed. I hated the battle system, and to me, the characters were all so boring that any of them could have died for good and I wouldn't have missed them one bit. The plot was complex, but not very 'lovable'. There was nothing drawing me in and keeping me rushing to my PS2 to play for hours.

What I did like was the ability to choose 'who got what' as far as weapons, armors, spells, summons, etc. That was neat. Also, I liked the environment. The world was so big, and I liked how the weather would change, etc.

BUT, my biggest factor in dropping the game was the battle system. I didn't have to touch the controller to win battles, and for me, that just ruined it. I liked having to strategize my fights, but this game didn't allow me to do much of that (except for assigning characters duties in the menu, which made it almost too 'computer-y' for me).

So, I was just wondering if I was the only one who thought FFXII basically sucked. Or, if you did like it, what did you like about it?

I. Love. It.

It's a great game!

It's so pretty (beautiful graphics), lovely music, and a terrific storyline. Mostly, the little love whatnot in the plot got annoying to me--no offense, but I just want to kill things.

I have seen no fault in the game. 3nodding

I like it so far. Not that far into it. About 5-10 hours in.
Though I hear there's no character development.

Chya, I would say whoever told you that is right.
I dunno, I did like the graphics and music, I guess.
But when I do get the hankering to kill things, the pre-programmed fighting thing just does it for me. I mean, honestly, where's the fun there?
I hear that's what they're doing with FFXIII's battle mechanics too.

I bothed Liked it and hated it. For one thing, I'm glad that there were no random battles. The battle system was fun.

I breezed through this game without realizing, and before I knew it I was fighting the final boss.

There were moments in the game, where it was almost impossible to beat for me, and there were moments it was TOO easy.

But what really matters is the storyline in an RPG. I didn't understand what was going on for the half of the game because different info was jumping at me all at once. Also, I would have to agree that the characters were not as lovable. I didn't get attached to anyone really except balthier and Fran.

i was quite disapointed that the story revolved around warfare and power and nothing else. the characters were not well developed, it seemed as though they had one characteristic.

Plus, there was no fun. Rarely was there a moment of comic relief or displayed closness between the characters. It all seemed like one giant politica struggle for power. it felt more like a war game then an RPG.

The game gets points for it's beautiful settings, battle system, grid system and for it's kick a** mist arts.

but the real drawback is that the story is not as fun or as developed and intergraded as the other final fantasies...

I actually like the battle system. It's really easy to cheat auto level win 3nodding I like to play without Gambits on at least my main character and set battle speed to max without freeze time. That makes it a bit more of a challenge.

The storyline wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, though. It got really dull after awhile, and the characters were mostly one-dimensional. No plot crying You know the game's plot is lame when the frikkin' fanfics are more entertaining than the actual game.

I loved the game and also developed a crush on balthier its a great game the graphics no more random battles and the battle system

The only thing was the story I really do love those old love stories from previous games

I actually found the storyline a bit more refreshing and sophisticated than many of the previous games, so kudos to Square there. The battle system also reminded me of programming simple AI functions, so it made the inner nerd in my smile.

The only real problem I had with the game, and still do, is the so called 'main character' Vaan. I cannot identify with that idiot at all, and anytime he opened his mouth it would ruin whatever scene was running. The plot line would have been much stronger if they had just focused on Ashe and Balthier more from the start. I can understand the technique of using and outside POV to get the audience member engaged, but hell, they really didn't implement it right at all. Vaan just came off as a whining buffoon the entire game through. Bah to Vaan.

Vaan is kind of a Tidus copy in that way, isn't he? He didn't really see a lot of plot, so why is he the main character, eh? He's not really that important, either... It's like Sqeenix is running out if ideas.

I absolutely love it! the new battle system was great for me! I thought it ruled! I was so into it! My boyfriend took it though, so I haven't got to finish it!

It feels good...

I've had the game ever since it came out, but I haven't gotten very far...I think I'm at the part in some temple with a moving wall...

I got roped into the Xbox 360 by my boyfriend not long after, so my PS2 is rarely turned on.

What I have played of the game, I really liked. The battle system and character building is different, so I love it. The graphics and music are beautiful, as expected.

The only thing I dislike is Vaan...Vahn? I can't remember. He's a horrible character.

...to know your mine.

So far it's pretty good.

Didn't like it. I hated how you didn't have hardly any control once the battles started. It wasn't even like real time where you could back up to dodge and stuff like in Dark Cloud. I really prefer turn based anyways.

I didn't get too far cause I hated the setup so much, but I watched my brother play for quite awhile. The characters were so lackluster and the plot was...eh stare . Plus it takes forever to get going. Can't stand that.

I found the battle system really lacking and I agree that it seemed too much like a war story. Several times I had to ask my boyfriend who was watching me play, "what just happened? I'm lost..." I loved the graphics but I'm not sure what it was, maybe the color scheme...You can only take so much beige...It seemed like every city, every person's outfit and skin tone seemed all the same color or close in the same color family. Brown, beige, sandy, white...etc...I need some color like in X and X-2. And I love to kill things, but I also really loved the girl aspect in the other games with a romance story in there too. It was a nice combo. Not just for boys, not just for girls. I missed that, it wasn't really there.
