I wrote this during commerical breaks of today's hour long x-play. It's nothing, seriously. I just got bored and the idea poped into my heads. there's nothing after this, it's just a product of my constant boredom. Not my best work, by far. Um...I'll post other quickies here to conserve space. Critics are well loved! Flames are foundations for toasting marshmellows.

The crescent moon hung high above the valley below. Lightening bugs floated above the grass, waving gently in the light breeze. A tranquil brook babbled as it made it way from the mountains that could be seen far off in the distance. So serene, so peaceful. Tomorrow it would be bathed in blood. The glow of the opposing camps could be seen, the sounds from within robbing the landscape of it’s otherwise calm night. The sound of hammers against steel shattered the stillness of nature’s sounds, the low chatter of men. The horses shifted, sensing the coming tide of hell man brought upon the world. Vultures slept in trees upon the nearby cliff that oversaw the valley. They knew a feast would soon lie before them. The moon that had so recently peaked in the sky began its descent back to the earth. Soon it would give way to the sun, whose light was meant to give warmth and life to the entire planet. But upon the coming day, it would cause the unleashing of a massacre. Its light which hoped to hear the lush songs of the grass, would instead weep as blood and bodies raped the landscape of its purity.

Thats one thing I've never been able to do. You explore the area surrounding the character. I can only go so far with the character himself/herself.

Congratulations!

Oh, and you watched that too? X-Play is awesome.

I'm very impressed with your writing style. It gives enough detail for a well-formed picture, but not everything so you have the option of personal creativity within the individual who reads it.

New story. Just what's written ehre, no continuation.

Was it safe? He wondered, staring at the large creature. He reared back slightly, fearful. What if the creature struck him? What if it was a trap? The hunger in his stomach pleaded with him. He didn’t eat much. And the food was there. Right in the creature’s paw. He inched closer, eyes staring up into the creature’s face. Searching its eyes, looking for the slightest hint of attack. His stomach growled at him. Oh he was hungry. Maybe…a test. A simple test. Yes. Yes that would do fine. He extended his paw, claws in. Slowly, slowly he allowed his paw to go nearer and nearer to the creature’s outstretched paw. Then, just as he was about to make contact, a flinch. He leapt back with surprising speed. His eyes started up at the creature’s face. It wouldn’t trick him like that again.
The girl sighed sadly. “Come on. Meow Meow. Meow Meow Meow.” She groaned and sat up, “Damnit.” She had been so close. The cat had almost taken the cat food from her hand. She sighed again in irritation at how her finger had betrayed her at the last second. One moment of fear that the feral cat would scratch her. One second and she had lost the chance of getting the cat to come into contact. She rattled the green dish filled with cat food, watching the stray. “Eat V.K. Eat.” She set the dish down and walked inside; watching the cat as it slinked cautiously to the food and began to eat. “I’ll try again tomorrow V.K. and everyday. No hurt in trying.”

This is based on a true event that happened this evening. V.K. stands for Virtual Kitty. He's a feral cat that's been hanging out on my front porch and bushes for a few months now. My family gives him food twice a day. Breakfast and dinner. Sometimes lunch. It's been months and he still won't let us get too close. Today I tossed pieces of dry cat food at him until he got pretty close and I extended my food filled hand to him. I decided to write the encounter from his and my point of view.

I highly enjoy the story; however, I wish you the greatest of luck in getting a cat to eat from your hand. This is a difficult feat to accomplish with domestic animals, much less feral/wild ones. Even if you tame the cat, expect it to always be wild within. Good luck.

*shrugs* I doubt I will, but no shame in trying yeah? We can't take him in anyhow. We have 3 puppies, one of which really wouldn't do so well with him we think.

sakyh you have wonderful descriptive abilities! smile I envy people who have literary gifts. the first story I felt like I was there waiting for the sun to come up and the battle to begin. I like the one about the cat too. your take on what the nervous cat may be thinking is a good one. smile

Oh! What a fun way to express an adverture! =3 As said before; your descriptions were wonderful, and to feel as if the reader is part of the story (if even a bystander concealed by a tree) is a grand feeling!
