((If you don't feel like rping you don't have to I just wanted Jani & Sukari to have a lil quality time with their sons ^-^!))
It always felt so strange to be 'grounded' but he forced himself to sleep on the ground nestled with his large mate and his cubs. Here he could protect them, watch them and also snuggle up slose to his mate. How he adored her, idolised her, her strength, her beauty, ehr size. He smiled lightly, first to waken as usual he gazed down lovingly at his family before he stood and stretched out his slender supple limbs, each mucle tencing and relaxing as he moved to take a few ungainly steps towards one of the few trees that inhabited the little grove they were sleeping in. Sukari always made it so that they rested beneath at least one tree, he supposed it was safer here, plenty of cover, but he also silently guessed she knew he missed the jungle and it's towering treeline. Still he could have a little fun racing up these spindly leafless trees.
In a second the dark green cheetah was up in the branches, his claws melding to the contours of the thick branch where he stood to look out in to the savannah. A waste land barren of trees, but a place where he could be with his lady love. Glancing down he startled as he saw a small movement in the grass, he chuckled, spotting the flash of gold and black that could only be one thing in the world. "Hello my son." he whisperes, his voice husky, a chuckle rolling off his tongue. "you know your mother would kill me if she saw you wandering off." with taht he leapt from the branches and landed before the not so small figure of his cheeton son.
The golden striped son of Sukari and Jani'Esquillo grinned as he watched his father leap from the tree. "I wasn't sneakin' off!" Mbura protested his icey green eyes stareing deeply in to the eyes of his father, the eyes which he had inherited from his cheetah parent. "I jus' wanted to watch you, thas all." he grns broadly then, his golden flecked tail flickering as he gazed up at his dark green father with admiration in his eyes. "Will you teach me to climb like you dad? You look like a boldt of lighntning when you climb!" he purrs padding up to his father and running his body between the slender front paws.
Jani grinned. "You'd better ask your mother she would skin me if you fell." he chuckles nudging the young male back towards the lioness and his siblings.

Fenris had stirred before his mother did, but after his father and one of his brothers. He looked around for them, finding that dad was up a tree, again, though not for long. His blue eyes followed his father as he lept so gracefully out of the tree. Fen padded up and stared up at his father, tail twitching. In Fen's mind, he was the brother that most looked like his dad. He felt he was more like his father than he was like his mother, considering she upset him by the way she treated Ryega and Usiku. He smiled up at his dad before saying, "Is mom alright with you being up there?" Fen couldn't help but ask.
Sukari, too, woke soon after her second son, yawning and letting out a small growl with it. She was obviously out of it as she rose and stretched her legs. She joined her young, facing their father, the only adult that she respected, loved. She still couldn't believe how different she was when she was around him and their family. A smile spread across her face.
"He's fine, he can climb trees," She said to Fenris. "And he can too, if you keep a close eye on him," She said to Jani, talking about Mbura. She smiled at the more slender male who she called her mate, knowing he'd take good care of the boys.

Jani'Esquillo looked down at his two son's he chuckled softly and gave a nod. "Like your mom says boys, I'v been climbing trees all my life." H elooked to his large mate with a puur on his lips and stepped forwards to groom her cheek. "If you think it's safe Sukari, I'd olove to teach our sons how to climb." he chuckled gently looking down at his dark green son. except for the lack of swtripes Fenris was most like himself and he knew he felt for his mates slaves. He bent down ands touched the dark green male on top of his head. "how about it kids, wanna climb."
Mbura smiled and gave a nod, though he turned to his brother and grabbed his ear tugging roughly. "betcha I can beetcha!" he chuckled his golden eyes sparkling. He was looking forwards to learning his fathers secrets. He turned to his mother and curled between ehr legs nipping her chin and puurring. "thanks mom" he grins turning to his father expectantly.

Sukari nuzzled against her mate. "Of course you can teach them, just not so high this first time out, alright? So if they fall they'll be ok?" She pulled back to look into those icy green eyes that she couldn't resist. The ones most of her sons had. She gave him one last nuzzle before encouraging the cubs.
"You guys might be able to beat your father up the tree," She chuckled as she sat back on her haunches. She bent down to give Mbura a lick before he could escape, same with Fen who had still been sitting still, though babbling.
Fen jumped up, excited to be going climbing. He'd never climbed before- this would certainly be fun!
Fen toppled over as his brother pulled at his ear. "I'll bet I'll beat you. I'm the fastest there ever was!" Fen boasted, tackling his brother.

The deep green cheetah chuckled and leant forwards grooming his large mates ears. "I won't take them too far up. I'll be surprised if they can get much higher than the bowl, climbings, well, complicated. He raised a brow and pursed his lips. "Alright kids, follow me." He padded in taht strange dancing type manner towards the base of the tree he had only minutes before leapt out of, his tail swaying back and forth as he concentrated. "Now the first rule of tree climbing is focus on what you are climbing. This is a small tree, it's bark is pretty smooth which makes it more difficult to climb up. You see some trees have alot of knot holes and bumps to dig your claws in to, they have crevices which you can use to hold on to. Every little hole becomes your next saftey net. This tree though is well worn, it's pretty young barely a sappling really though big enough to hold our weight."
He pads behind fen and pushes him with his nose to the base of the tree. "Now, put for fore paws against the trunk and feel the bark, this bark is going to hold you on so put out your claws okay." He grins and picks up his dark green son by the scruff of his neck, through clenched jaws he mumbles "now put out all your claws" He holds fen forwards and attaches him tot he tree quite literally. Straightening his jaw he grins and lifts Mbura up getting him to do the same and placing him next to his brother.
"Now this is the most important thing you will ever learn in climbing. If you can hold on when you are vertical you can hold on when you're horizontal, so keep your claws out and grip, this strengthens your paws, though you can't do this all the time or, well you'll end up crippled like your old man." Jani looked a little embarressed at this but continued onwards "But at least if you ever need to get up high and out of the way you'll be able to climb as high as you old man okay?" He grinned looking at Sukari touching his nose to her ear "They won't stay on long but they havn't got a long way to fall." he chuckles, he remembered fondly his own 'mother' teaching him how to do this, it had been so much harder for him, he was unable to retract his claws, his sons hadn't been so plagued by the curse of the cheetah, they were able to pull in their claws and unsheath them like a lion, for this he was thankful.
Mbura held on tightly to the tree with all his might though he very quickly started to slide down the tree his dark claws streaking the bark very lightly as his claws were dull as all cubs claws are. He came to the ground with a soft thud upon his bottom at which point he fell backwards flashing his peachy coloured belly at his parents. He grinned and started to giggle. "That was fun, I wanna go higher!"

Fenris did exactly as his dad told him to do. He first felt the tree. His dad was right, it wasn't all that rough, but it wasn't entirely smooth either. Certainly he could get his claws good and deep into it. He put his claws out, and gripped the bark as hard as he could, drawing his body close to the tree. He was certain that this would help, but he was unsure of whether it did or not. It wasn't until his father fully removed the support of his jaw that Fen realized how truly heavy he was.
He couldn't help but feel like a bug. They hung around on trees like this all the time. He didn't dare move, for fear of losing his grip, but saw out of the corner of his eye his mostly-black brother joining him on the tree in the same manner that Fen had been perched.
He felt the bark give way, and fell to the ground just before Mbura.
"That was fun!" Fen echoed after Mbura spoke. "I wanna go higher too!" He turned to his mother. "Please mom? PLEASE???" He put on the most pitiful look he could.
Sukari couldn't help but chuckle as Jani placed each cub on the tree, hanging them like an ornament. She was surprised at her boys' ability to remain on that bark. She also chuckled as each boy landed similarly on the ground. To her son's request, she responded, "Only if your father thinks you're ready." She glanced at Jani- he was the best judge in this area. Sukari wasn't all that good of a climber.

Jani chuckled lightly, he watched his young charges with interest as they fell lightly to the ground with little bumps. He swished his tail as he looked up in to the tree contemplating the weight that it would hold. "Alright then, lets see, we'll do this exercise every day until you can hold on to a tree without having to race up it but I guess we can do a little gravity defying." He chuckled and looke dup in to the dark branches above them his tail swaying back and forth as he took a single leap his claws attaching themselves to the bark as he raced up the trees trunk as fast as a normal cheetah leapt accross the land. Standing in the bowl of the tree he looked down at the two cubs. "Sukari," He paused and smiled at his chocolat coloured mate, from tree hight he couldn't help but admire he dark coat and wide back, a slight shiver ran down his spine and he shook his head, he really had to concentrate right now "If you stand at the bottom my love and play catch okay." He grinned broadly, thew tree wasn't really that tall being of the spindly savannah nature but he didn't want either of his sons to fall and hurt them selves.
"Now oe at a time unsheath your claws and use them to climb, go as fast a yo can but feel for the grooves of the tree, they will help you hold on okay?"
Mbura looked up at his father, his mouth open slightly. It was amazing to him to see how swiftly his father scaled the hights to reach the trees bowl in a green flash. He was certainly in awe of his fathers powers. He knew his father was ungainly on the ground, but in the trees he was akin to a god in his powers, or at least he was to mbura. Wriggling his tiny tail he tried to mimic his fathers movement, taking what could be classed as a giant leap for a little cub he dove at the tree with his claws out and started to scale the partially smooth bark very slowly. This was harder than his father made it look that was for sure. His little mucles were burning trying to gather up speed to launch himself higher towards his father and the branches above.

Sukari caught her mate's look. She knew it was a look of adoration. She gave him the same look before he spoke. "Of course I'll play catch, I wouldn't let any of them fall." She knew that she'd be quick enough to catch one, should he fall. She smiled and watched Mbura fight his way up the tree, hoping he wouldn't fall.
Fenris circled the tree, searching for a way up so he could climb at the same time as his brother. He found an opening about 90 degrees to the left of his brother's position. He backed up quite a way, knowing that the only way he could do this was momentum. He sprinted towards the tree and launched himself when he got within three feet of the base. The jump gave him plenty of elevation. He made one more jump up with considerable speed, but then the next was very slow. The cub squinted and gritted his teeth at the pain shooting through his young limbs.

Jani chuckled as he watched the two youngsters try their hand at scaleing in to the branches. Mbura was furst to come within his reach, he lay down in the bowl of the tree and scooped the youngster up beside him. He didn't want to over exert his young charges after all. It was something they needed to learn over time. Light green eyes glinted and he gave a wink to his chocolate coloured mate as he reachedfor Fenris and deposited him beside his brother before sitting up and looking to the two youngsters. "Now remember, you have to take these things slowly. If you push yourself you will only hurt your mucles. Hurting your mucles will set your training back a pace so you need to take it easy." He gave each of his sons a lick on top of their heads. "You both did very well though." He grinned proudly and peered over the edge of the tree. "nows the fun part, going back down again."
Mbura beamed happily as his father praised them both, he felt strong and important being ableto climb the tree, mostly, on his own. "Wait, we have to go down?" he blinked, even though the tree was not large, peering over the edge it seemed like the base of the tree was a million miles away. "How?"

Fenris said in tandem with his brother, "I'll bet it's a lot faster getting down." Fenris was always just concerned with speed. "Do we just race down the way we were supposed to race up?" He asked his dad, tilting his head. He made it sound so much easier than it was bound to be.
Sukari had known the cubs would make it up just fine... It was getting down that she was concerned about. With Jani's announcement of their descending, she started to pace beneath the three cats, only watching her two sons. A fall from up there, if landed improperly, would be bad enough to kill. Kill her offspring, the strongest cubs on the savannah.

Jani chuckled. "Well for you no, when you're bigger and have longer legs and more bounce in your step you can run down, but for now you're going to use your tree gripping." He smiled lightly and looked doan at Sukari with a gentle wink. He wouldn't let anything happen to his sons. "I'm going to go down first so I can watch yopu, but heres what you do, go over butt first okay, keep your claws out and slowly siddle down, feel for the rough spots for a better grip." Jani paused, he knew full well he shouldn't tell the cubs to not look down, that just caused anyone to look so with a swift run and a leap he was out of the branches and beside Sukari giving ehr a quick lick to her cheek and a nuzzle in ehr ear "They'll be fine, you know I wouldn't let them fall." He whispers looking up to the two young cubs perched in the trees bowl.
Mbura swallowed hard, going down sounded a little scary to him, not that he was going to admit that to anyone, he was goign to be brave, strong and fearless just like his old man! Slowly clambering to the edge of the tree he turned so that his tail danglked over the edge and feeling for a good place to put his first back paw he gripped tightly to the ledge which moments ago he had been sitting upon. His back paws found a convenient little hollow to wedge them selvesin to and he slowly allowed his fore paws to grip the tree. Attempting to make a move now he lifted one back paw then..his paw was stuck. Yanking at the tree he mewed pittifully. "Mom! Dad! I'm stuck!" It was a paniky moment for the little cub afraid that his grip would loose and he would be stuck dangling by his hind leg.
Even before Mbura could call out Jani was beside him, his years int he trees allowing him to defy gravity. "Stay still now." He smiled and gripped the little cub by the scruff of his fluffy neck lifting him from the hollow where his foot was stuck before leaping to the ground and placing him beside his mother. "Perhasps we'llleave coming down for another day hmm?" He smiled jovily and looked up to fenris "Stay there I will come and fetch you."

Sukari nuzzled her mate when he came down and returned his quick lick. "I know you wouldn't. They'll be fine," she said, confident that her sons would be able to make it down the tree.
But she thought too soon. Well, they were only cubs... Coming down like that would take a juvenile's strength, in her mind. Not only holding your own weight, but doing so with just your claws... Sukari wasn't good at it either. She was much more clumsy amongst the trees than her mate. Partly, no doubt, because of her size. She was not surprised when Jani went up to fetch the pair, and she gave her sons, if they were watching, a smile. It was a rare sight on the lioness's muzzle, but her family saw it often enough.
When Mbura got stuck, Fen reached out a paw, but found it unnecessary. He was amazed at the speed with which his father could get up this tree, when he could only hobble about on land! He was there before Fen's weight even shifted to reach out his paw. "Alright, I'll wait here, dad," he said with his father's words. He returned his mother's smile.

Once Mbura was deposited by his mother the green lightning streaked once again up the tree and stood nimbly behind his deep green son. "Takes time and practice, you'll be good enough climbers in no time, no point bpushing it you'll end up like your old man." He holds up an oddly deformed paw before scooping Fenris in his jaws and once again bolting down the tree where he placed Fenris beside his brother. Wrenching his jaws slightly he chickled. "If you get much bigger you'll be coming down on your own." He beamed proudly at his two sons, they were so handsome to him, though they had been an unexpected surprise for the green cheetah, who knew lions and cheetahs could breed after all? They had been a blessing with every moment they had been in his life.
Looking to his large chocolate coloured mate he nuzzlesd her cheek and gave a soft puurr. "You did wonderfully boys." he chuckles.
Mbura turned to his brother and grinned sheepishly. "stupid knot in that tree nearly cut me foot off!" he snipped, looking almost proud of his escapade in the tree, infact he would probably invent some story about a killer tree at a later date, but for now, he was happy to brag about climbing and nurse his slightly injured pride and foot.

"I'll nearly cut your foot off!" Fenris said playfully as he lept at his brother, being careful not to hurt him. Such expeditions always filled Fen with energy that he usually released on his father, but seeing as his father had been a major part of this expedition, Mbura made a more suitable target.
"What do you boys say to a swim in the water hole?" Sukari said, trying to get her sons to stop. While she was glad the pair of them got along well together, she didn't want Mbura's paw getting any more hurt than it already may be, though it didn't appear to be in too bad of shape. She nudged up against Jani as she started towards the water hole.

Jani smiled at his large mate and gave a nod nudging the cubs bottoms. "Follow your mother now boys, she's much better at swimming than me." He smiled at his sons and padded along behind Sukari his nose on her shoulder. He always had to sort of dance along the ground as he walked his forepaws deformed in such a way that he could not walk the way a normal graceful cheetah could.
Mbura beamed at his brother enjoying the rough and tumble until his mother called a stop to it for a swim. He was happy to follow in that idea. Swimming. Their parents certainly knew how to keep them all active. "Betcha I can beat you to the water hole!" he quipped to Fenris speeding off after his parents running betwen his mothers legs as he did so with a happy whoop.
