The are some things that are "less known" in most of the .hack//series. This includes everything from SIGN to G.U. Something in here are just random facts you should know, but several people still debate about. Other things in this guide provide an insight on English Translation horrors, and how they foolishly try to fix them. I'll start from the most recent to the oldest.

arrow Anime: The Cobalt Knights are called "Cerulean Knights".
arrow Anime: Ouka's name was spelled "Ohka".
arrow Vol. 1: Ouka's name was spelled "Orca". Fixed in reprints. (see bottom of page)
arrow Vol. 1: Shugo was called "Shuga" in the prologue.
arrow Vol. 1: After killed, Shugo's screen says "Player Kite is dead.".
arrow Vol. 2: Rena was called "Reina" on the back cover.
arrow Vol. 2: Hunter's Blood was called "Hunter's Bane".
arrow Vol. 2: Piros was called a Heavy Blade instead of Heavy Axeman.
arrow Vol. 2: Twin Blades are called "Twin Swords".
arrow Vol. 3: Zefie was called "Zephie".
arrow Vol. 3: The One Sin was called "Zawan Shin". Fixed in reprints.
arrow Vol. 3: Spear of Wotan called "Spear of Voltan".
arrow Vol. 3: Helba is referred to as a "he".

arrow Shugo and Rena's parents are divored in the anime, but sitll together in the manga.
arrow Rena does not fall into a coma in the manga.
arrow Silver Knight does not has account deleted in the manga.
arrow Blamung and Kamui do not have a past relationship in the manga.
arrow Rei does not betray Balmung in the manga.
arrow Zefie is replaced my Morti in the anime.
arrow Komiyan III is data drained only once in the manga.
arrow Wiseman is replaced by Sanjuro in the anime.
arrow Shugo's second kiss was with Reki in the anime, but it was Zefie in the manga.

arrow Shugo and Rena used to live next door to Fumikazu and Akira Hayami (Kazu and BlackRose).
arrow In the games, Mirielle was mistranslated as a boy.
arrow Reki and Magi were not originally in the series.
arrow Kamui was mistranslated as a boy in AI Buster.
arrow Kamui was orginally deisgned as a long-haired pretty boy, like Balmung.
arrow Kamui's eyes are brown in the anime, instead of one blue and one gold eye.
The Grunty Girl shown in Legend of the Twilight may not be Puchi from SIGN because of their different reactions and voices, though because of their shared character design they are thought to be the same character. Puchi's name is never mentioned in either SIGN or Legend of the Twilight where she was referred to as "Grunty Girl" ("Female Blademaster" in the original script and credits), but her was revealed by her .hack//Enemy Card. However, the class is wrong, since Puchi's character model is the same as Rachel's. The name "Puchi" is likely short for "Puchiguso" which was the original Japanese name for Grunties, and how canonical it is is unknown.

Shugo's first kiss ever was inside The World (Aura).
Rena's ringtone for Shugo is "Obsession" from .hack//SIGN.
At the end of the manga, it is shown that many of the past .hack// characters are still playing The World. Because of its print in black and white, these could also be character with similar characteristics. Crim mentioned Subaru quitting The World after SIGN, but she is shown in the end. She may, however, have started playing once again after UNISON.
Bonus material at the end of each volume shows, presumably, Azure Kite defeating Balmung.
At the end of the 3rd volume, it says "On to G.U.!"

arrow Silver Knight was refered to as "Ginkan" in the fansubs of .hack//SIGN, resulting in some minor confusion between those who watched the dub and those who watched the sub. Actually, both names are correct, as "Ginkan" means roughly "Silver Knight" when translated.

arrow Contrary to some rumors, none of the girls who controlled Mimika created Gardenia.
arrow It is speculated Mimiru's name is derived from Mimika's out of respect.

-+-Mysteries-+-
arrow The Aromatic Grass Macha often is seen with in SIGN can be seen as a symbol of her memories of Tsukasa or their friendship.
arrow As seen in .hack//AI Buster 2, Macha's silence seems to be due to the fact that she communicates entirely in text. So, even though she doesn't actually speak. Players are still able to understand her by reading their chat bars.

arrow A-20's name is written the same in both English and Japanese
arrow A Harald AI supposedly used to exist in Hulle Granz Cathedral, but due to its easily accessible location it was probably one of the first to be deleted by Morganna.
arrow Aura did not appear in 6 episodes of .hack//SIGN. Episodes 1, 7, 17, 19, 20, and 27.
arrow Silver Knight is the only character to have appeared in all three anime TV series, albeit only being in one episode in both Legend of the Twilight and .hack//Roots.
arrow BT's name is the same in both English and Japanese, as she used Roman Letters to make her name.
arrow Bear is the first normal PC to successfully finish off a Guardian (although it was a joint effort, Bear dealt the final blow).
arrow Crim apparently has a Rocker Grunty, he was seen riding one in an episode of SIGN.
arrow In the original draft of the episode Recollection, Kaochin's name was "Nyal-ko", one of Michiko Yokote's cats.
arrow In the original draft of .hack//SIGN, Salu's name was "Zojerk", one of Michiko Yokote's cats.

arrow Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster.
arrow In ZERO, Sora tells Carl that he named his character after Sora Kawai, a famous poet and student of Matsuo Basho. Later, when Carl accuses him of lying, he explains that he changed the kanji to look cooler.
arrow Within Wilhelm Richard Wagner's masterpiece, The Ring of the Nibelungen, Balmung was the name of the sword that Siegfried wielded.
arrow Crim's title is "The Red Lightning", a possible reference to his appearance.
arrow Teddy's name is never said in SIGN. It was revealed by Analysis.
