Dark Fire Angel

There was nothing better, or more calming than rain. That's what Coral thought anyhow as he sat on the porch of the feli house; his eyes followed the rumbling of the clouds above as they rolled over, producing bolts of lightning that rocketed down to earth every so often. He'd always found the rain to be relaxing, and though he wasn't the type to run out and frolic in it, he was certain the type to sit down and merely... gaze.
As he watched on, a soft smile played upon his maw, almost as if he were being reunited with an old friend he'd missed, his long tail swishing over the wooden floor. The lithe male had always wondered why others thought rain and storms were evil and scary; since he'd been a kit, he'd found himself staring out the window, watching the storms as they rolled by. This was nothing more than a summer storm; Coral knew that. He also knew that just like many other summer storms, it'd soon dissipate away and it'd leave a humid meadow to play in.
Everyone knew that the meadow and forest smell differently after a storm; or if everyone didn't know, at least Coral did.

If there was one thing Kaizou Konpaku hated--and indeed, he hated many things--but if there was one thing Kon hated, it was the rain. It left him cooped up and restless inside, with all this energy and nothing to do with it. Once he'd wound up... quite literally... bouncing off the walls, but he'd been given a talking to about that. If he did happen to go out or get stuck out in the rain, it was a decidedly miserable experience. It left him sopping wet in such a way that he felt like a lead weight, having to drag himself about, and it took forever to dry. Once or twice he'd been tossed into the drier to hasten the process, but he found this to be extremely undignified. He had rights!
So he sat, perched in one of the window seats in the conservatory, glaring out at the rain, as though the shere force of his ire would make it stop. And he might not've been so especially grumpy if, on top of being cooped up inside, he weren't alone. He had no idea where Ichigo was... and Rukia was off somewhere with her cherry-haired boytoy and his copious black tattoos. Kon wasn't sure he trusted this guy with his Rukia... although that attitude coming from Kon could be deemed a mite hypocritical.
Almost as though to emphasize this fact, as he leaned his face up against the window, sulking, he caught a glimpse of something that sparked his interest. He only got a bare glimpse of it, just out of the corner of his eye, but he saw it just the same... Long, flowing, lilac hair.
There was probably only one thing that could get Kon to go outside in a rainstorm, and that one thing was a pretty girl. In fact, the second he saw the fair-colored locks, the plushie Feli bolted out of the conservatory and right up to the Feli flap. He paused there to collect himself, wanting to appear as suave as possible, then strutted out onto the porch, head held high in confidence.
He felt the moisture in the air clinging to him almost immediately... but he didn't care. He caught a glimpse of the gal (or so he thought) from behind and she was gorgeous! With a bow in her hair and bells in her ears, she was the picture of innocence.
Kon couldn't resist.
He cleared his throat lightly and addressed the stranger, "Pardon me, but... what's a lovely thing like you doing sitting out in weather like this?"

Had Kon not spoken, it was probable that Coral would've never noticed his presence; so absorbed was he watching the storm up ahead that he'd forgotten his surroundings. Now, mostly due to his personality, and the way he was (not to mention his upbringing and his parents), Coral would've never minded being called feminine; in fact, there was a slight probability he did not even know what this meant.
Hence when the plushie spoke out, the lithe feli offered him a smile, looking all the more feminine as he hooded his eyes slightly, "Why... watching the rain, of course," he said softly as he moved a pace away from the plush, obviously offering a place to sit beside him; after all, WHY wouldn't anyone love to sit there and gaze at the lovely lightning? Coral would never know the answer to such a question; the mere thought made him shudder slightly, making it look as if the soft breeze of air that had passed by were making him feel cold, "I find the rain to be fascinating," his voice was soft, very much like his father's and his uncle's voice, almost musical, and never once did it betray the fact he was... male, really.
Moving his frame so that he was sitting on his hind legs, Coral spread his paws slightly and twirled on the porch, "I've always liked the rain; it cleanses the air... it seems to wash away the evil of the world, and makes everything look new," after a second twirl, he landed on all four in front of Kon and smiled, his eyes closing in the process, "Do you like rain too? I bet that's why you're out here now, isn't it?" as if it'd make it easier to determine this, he leaned his head in till their noses were pressing, if only briefly, the one against the other, "My name is Coral," he breathed before taking a step back to sit again, his gaze once more drifting towards the lightning up ahead as it sparked and thunder rolled.
It was lovely; the only one he knew shared his love for storms, however, was Indra, the small Storm caller kit. It had been lonely, and Coral was quite glad to have a .... not-exactly-friend nearby. Something was something.

Kon held his ground, grinning in what he hoped was a charming manner (although honestly, he just came off looking somewhat lecherous), as the "lady" turned to face him. His grin faltered a little when Coral turned to face him, his face going dumbstruck. God, she was even more gorgeous from in front! She had these pretty, hypnotic, doe-like eyes. Kon found his tail lashing excitedly, and forced it to stop by stepping on it with one of his hind feet. Hastily he forced his face into a grin again, this time looking a bit more sheepish. "Watching the rain, huh? You like watching the rain?" he asked... a little stupidly, he'd be the first to admit, but he was in such a daze that his brain had stopped functioning properly for the moment.
And her voice! What a lovely voice... it pleased the ear. Kon took it in for a second with a satisfied sigh when... what was this!? The plush could hardly believe his eyes! Was she actually making a place for him beside her!? "Man, this must be my lucky day..." Kon muttered under his breath. When Coral wasn't looking, he hastily made to groom his mane, before recalling, with some bitterness, that his mane was made of felt. So he trotted ahead eagerly and seated himself down next to this pretty figure.
He nodded eagerly at whatever she had to say, listening perhaps the best he had listened to anyone in a long time. She was so pretty... so graceful... a lot of Kon's effort was going into just keeping his drool inside his mouth. "I, uh..." he faltered a bit, suddenly concerned when asked his opinion on rain. What was he supposed to do!? Lie? Well, if he told the truth he might offend her--especially after all the beautiful, thoughtful things she'd just said on the subject of the rain. And then how would he explain why he'd come out here? Think, Konpaku, think! he admonished himself. "Uh... yeah! I love the rain!" he finally responded, rather hastily. "It's... it's real pretty. It creates a nice rhythm when it falls..." Well, that'd have to do; his brain stopped working when their faces got close, and he trailed off lamely after that.
He took a second to compose himself once again for introductions. Now putting on his most winning, most confident smile, he bowed to his company and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Coral. I'm Kaizou Konpaku." He rose slowly. "Most just call me Kon." Then, realizing, added quickly, "But you could also call me Kai, if you wanted!" Dang. He should've given her the cool name first.
Maybe this wasn't his lucky day, after all...
