A storm brewed on the horizon. It was not yet here, but a pair of blue eyes could see lightning jump from cloud to cloud, and her ears could detect the sound of thunderclaps in the distance. Yes, a storm most certainly was coming, and the lioness had no food to give to her four sons yet.

With an irritated growl Sukari turned sharply and suddenly, walking paralell to the storm's position. She awaited it's arrival, often times preybeasts would flee from such storms. The wind blew her fur about, often getting it into her eyes, which just angered the lioness more. She folded her ears back and scoffed at a little lizard that was fleeing from her footfalls.

At the moment, the lioness hated everything there was to hate- she was in a positively awful mood, and just wanted to make her kill and get home- take her anger out on the wild dog that was the whelp.

A toothy scowl formed along her muzzle, making Sukari's natural facial expression as she sat and waited, her eyes scanning the horizon, for any sign of anything she could eat. She flipped her ears forward at the sign of movement in the distance, or at least, she thought it had been movement. She rose and moved towards it, and the storm drew ever nearer.

Angu had felt the storm too, seen the same lightning that she had. In fact, the weather had worried him for several hours, and thanks to his pestering about the danger, the rest of his group were safely hiding away from harm.

In fact, he even had the same goal as the angry lioness. He insisted that Chuguu stay with the others, and he'd try to get food. It wasn't that he didn't feel that she was up to it, but he couldn't live with himself if something happened to her. Unlike Sukari though, Angusho was rather happy with the situation. He'd been happy a lot lately, ever since he had fallen in love with Raza, nothing seemed to be able to bring him down.

The conspicuous lion lumbered about, also parallel to the storm, waiting for something to show up. He was so focused on looking for prey, that he barely noticed the lioness.

She continued forward, picking up speed as she went until she reached a fast trot. The closer she got to the figure, the more she realized that it was another lion, a male. She didn't want him to take her kill- she had more mouths to feed, she was sure.

Her muscles rippled, expecting a fight as always. She was anxious to take out her constant rage on something. Certain that whoever it was was weaker than the abnormally-sized lion (at least for Umande'mfuni blood,) Sukari charged forward, approaching him from behind.

"Who are you, and what do you want on my land!?" She snarled loud enough to be heard over the oncoming thunder. The land truly wasn't anyone's, and anyone with common sense would know this, as there were no boundary markings. Yet, she had the nerve, as always, to claim it as her own. She awaited his answer, teeth bared.

Angu perked up his ears, realizing that he was not alone for the first time. As soon as they went up though, they went straight back down. This lioness was NOT friendly, that was for sure, and he wasn't going to let her get away with such an attitude.

He paused for a moment, as if unsure of what to say, before letting out an almighty roar that clashed with a clap of thunder, though it could still be heard quite clearly. "My name is Angusho, Shujaa of the Mteo'Nyungu, and you will not take such a tone with me." He growled, clearly enraged. How DARE she claim that this was her land? How dare she challenge him?

He bared his teeth right back at her, itching to put her in her place. At this close a distance she must have realized how enormous he was, and his densely muscled frame was nothing to scoff at.

"Pff!" Sukari said loudly, followed by an insane laugh. She was loving how this was going. "I care not of Prides or positions. I've found that nobody is stronger than me." Her eyes tightened, daring him to even try an attack.

"Besides, what's a pridemember doing out here all alone?" She asked, starting to circle the male. The fur along her spine stood from instinct. She thought no more about a kill for her family, only the challenge she had instigated. She wore, now, a smile, a disturbing one. "You'd better not run like the last one I challenged did." She snarled. That was when she paused, the smirk gone from her muzzle.

Mteo'Nyungu... where have I heard that? she asked herself. Her mind worked quickly and spat out the answer shortly. "That blue lioness!" She hissed audibly. "You related to a 'Barazahi'? She's from your pride!" she asked the male over the oncoming storm. Mind tricks- how she loved them. A toothy smirk spread maliciously across her muzzle, she knew, somehow, that he'd recognize the name.

"I find that rouges rarely do." Angu retorted, laughing at her next statement, "Well then prepare to find differently."

"I don't suppose that is any of your business, is it now?" Angusho rolled his eyes, "The storm is too dangerous for the others, I'm hunting for them." He shook a bit of his mane out of his eyes, almost as if he was having a casual conversation with her, doing his best to keep his anger from boiling over. He didn't want to have a fight if he could avoid it... Or did he? He didn't like this lioness one bit, what harm could it do to have a good brawl?

He scoffed, "Why would I run from you? Do you think for a moment that I am afraid of you?"

Suddenly his eyes widened, his cool and uncaring act melting away as he heard her name. This lioness had met Raza... All attempts to bottle up his anger ceased immediately as his rage poured over, hatred lacing every word.

"Raza is not my relative but my mate! If you have done anything to harm her, anything at all, I swear you will not leave this place alive, not while I still draw breath."

Ah, yes. That was the reaction she wanted- riled up and pissed. "That weak little thing, pathetic. I could've snuffed her life out at a water hole," she said staring down the now-enraged lion. Yes, that's the attitude she wanted- make a truly interesting fight.

She continued her circling as she continued her taunting. "Raza is pathetic, weak, idiotic," she said, truthfully in her mind. The little kind lioness, the one that appeared to her family, was begging her to stop, but her normal self pushed it down, killed off the voice of reason, she wanted nothing less than a fight.

"And, Angusho, you should be afraid," She said as she charged him. She pushed off from the ground, making herself airborne, and aimed a bite at the male's spine.

"SHUT UP!" Angu roared, his claws unsheathing and gripping the ground, leaving deep furrows in the ground, "You don't know anything about her!" He hissed, "I'm not afraid of you." With that, it began.

Angu flung himself onto the ground, his belly facing her. A strange, some might even say suicidal, tactic, but it was surprisingly effective. He bared his teeth and extended his claws, taking a bone-crushing swipe at her side as she fell toward him. He may get beat up in the process, but he didn't care, the fact that he was almost guaranteed to do some damage to the lioness was good enough for him.

Sukari felt her teeth hit resistance, no doubt it was the male, and she closed. It all happened so fast, though, that she didn't trust that she'd actually coordinated it right until she landed and saw it.

Her thoughts, however, were distracted as she flew forward, with a shock of pain on her side. The landing alone hurt, but not too awful badly. Not as bad as the scar under her eye had... the pain of memory momentarily overwhelmed her. That had been caused by another pain, and her own claw...

She roared at the pain from her side. Angusho had left a deep, jagged gash in her side. Sukari hadn't felt this kind of pain for a while, it was... refreshing, it egged the female on. She turned on the spot to launch another attack, aiming for what that stupid maned wolf had done- She quickly got up in Angu's face and swiped sand at his eyes, grunting as she did it, she'd put so much furiousity into it, hoping to blind him.

Angu felt his claws digging into her flesh, and was immediately glad that he had done so, but at the same time, he felt her teeth sinking into his forearm, he hissed in anger and pain, but got up as quickly as he could nonetheless. Laying on ones back was not a good way to fight most of the time.

Angu was about to launch another attack when he felt his eyes stinging as he saw bits of sand flying toward his face. What a dirty trick he thought to himself, trying to shake it out of his his eyes. He felt so helpless, unable to see... If she were to attack him he'd have little time to react. He lashed out at random with his paws, hoping to hit something or at least deter her enough to stop an immediate attack.

Ha! That dirty Maned wolf was onto something, Sukari thought quickly to herself as she continued her attack. Now was as good a time as ever to go for a slash to the face. She had aimed it for his nose, but due to his sparatic movement, she would land it on his cheek, if it landed at all.

He had struck her across the muzzle, with his random slashes, but she tried as best she could to get him in the face as she fell from the power of that mistaken blow of his. She snarled at seing her own blood in the air as she fell to the ground, not by any means defeated, just more irritated.

Angu smiled as he felt one of his paws hit; perhaps he wouldn't fall to her because of her trick! He only just managed to open his eyes again when he saw her falling. For a moment, he had the crazy idea that he had won, but he was snapped back to reality by a harsh blow across his face.

He snarled and turned to face her... Normally he wouldn't attack someone while they were down, but Sukari seemed as good an exception as he was going to get. Without hesitating, he lunged toward her, aiming to get his jaws around her throat.

He managed to succeed, and for the first time in ages, Sukari truly panicked. She pushed with all four paws with all her might against him, trying desperately to get her neck out of his jaws. She thought she could feel a tooth puncturing the skin, she squrimed even more violently, pushing a paw on his throat, hoping it would make him back off.

She knew now that if she continued fighting, she would be dead. Heck, if he closed his jaws any quicker, she would be dead. She could feel her blood running from the cut across her snout.

Quickly, and unwelcome, came images of Jani, Fenris, Mbura, Takeshi, and Kivuli. She had to go back to them- she had to.

If she would manage to get up, if she managed to slither out from this male's jaws, she'd run. Run as fast as she could. She had to get out first, though.

Angu had won, he knew it. A feeling of pride swept through him as he knew that he had the beast backed into a corner. He wanted so badly to clamp his jaws down on her windpipe, to finish her off for what she had done. And yet, he couldn't bring himself to do it. A low growl rumbled from his throat as he thought of how Raza would see him if he killed her...

Reluctantly, he lifted his head and released her neck, letting her go was one of the most difficult things he had ever done.

"Get your sorry hide out of here." Without another word, Angu turned tail and stalked off, feeling that he had enough of her for one day.

Sukari rose to her feet as quickly as she could, terrified, yet thankful that he had let her go. That could've been the end of her, and it would've been the end of her four little boys, as Jani wasn't yet able to run fast on the ground.

She ran, bolted, without a word or a growl, blood flowing from her face, side, and neck. She ran into the storm, ignoring the pain, hoping that she wouldn't have to turn back ever again. She was a cub again, running from that first defeat of hers, only this one had been much more serious.

She would later make a cut, on her own, down her front right leg- a cut that would scar over, no doubt. It would be a reminder to herself to never fail again.
