Today, Blackfire had stepped out to go and find a particular 'friend' of her father's. His name was Bairn... and apparently, he was the one Soquili--let alone stallion--that Windflame had 'fun' with... Apparently, her father found this particular horse amusing, and he had once told her Bairn was an interesting character to speak with. It was probably her father's only way of saying that this Bairn character was the only one--besides her mother, of course, and his daughters--who had truly seen any emotion of Windflame. Most of the time he was so hard to read, even by his family, but there were always those flickers of emotion, brief, but they were there.
Bairn, apparently, had learned a few lessons from Windflame about the deceiving of appearances and sudden conclusions. Blackfire had to agree with her father on that part: appearances didn't say everything about the person, and therefore, one should be venturesome and take a chance to know that person... unless, her father had said firmly, that person was a purely evil Kalona. They were ones who would attack and hunt on sight and smell--especially if they were hungry. Shaking her head--she found out that she thought a lot, and it wasn't exactly healthy--she continued her search. She'd like to speak with this Bairn horse; he sounded fair entertaining!
However, knowing about the person and knowing where they were were two completely different things, as Blackfire slowly found out. She had no clue where to start, or where to go, or well, where to look! Soquili these days, if you looked for them, you would never find them; and if you didn't look for them, they somehow found you... Blackfire decided then and there it'd probably be easier to let herself or Bairn discover each other upon sudden appearance, or something like that. She knew she'd meet him at some point, and if that wasn't now, then perhaps later. Who knows, she might even run into him... literally! Or fall on him, if she was flying and then lost her balance. She wasn't too particularly good at flying yet, but she knew she was better than her mother.
She did, after all, have a good teacher in her father, who was a strong flier, but being such a big stallion her father didn't fly often, just when he needed to get to places far away. His wings weren't built to keep him aloft in the sky, nor were they built for long flights, but he trained himself every day in order to make such long flights. His wings were built more for intimidation, perhaps, or a way to allow him his quick reflexes. Either way, she was glad she wasn't on his bad side. Her father had told her each of his enemies had died once they met him... she shivered. At any rate, back to looking for this 'friend' of his... Bairn.

It had been a while since anything remotely interesting happened to the family of five-which on again-off again was basically only two. A semi happy stallion and his mate. Their children of whom they raised so carefully had a life (or lives....) of their own, now...and dark brown eyes could never be satisfied with the sight of them. The poor mare. She hadn't wanted the miracle that had been besowed upon her while others tried for months with no luck, but now that they were there, grown up and gone, there was barely a day that saddness didn't cross over the couple.
The worst part of it was that it reminded the father of his own family, when he was younger and without a mate or children of his own. Aruna, Artemis and himself seemed to disappear off the earth back then as well as their Father, Hania. His Mother though, never took that fact seriously. They were all still a family in her eyes, no matter if one of them were dead and another had gone evil. The tanned stallion admired those words as he watched his three grow up, and always kept that in the back of his mind...
...But he couldn't do it for much longer.
On a quest, so to speak, to find them all. And even, if he'd say so himself-the rest of his family. Artemis's children...Aruna's...Riley his brother...his parents. A friendly face such as the one of Windflame or even Diabetia would satisfy him greatly. Someone who he had known before mating off with the golden spider mare. To keep his sanity in place...
Not that he wasn't happy of course. Astia meant the world to this stallion and he could ask for no better life. Just something different, for a change...rather than seeing her sparkling face every moment of every day.
That's when the thought of his old friend Windflame came to mind again. The Kalona that taught him so much about life and helped him -deal- with a lot of the problems it came with. A definite true friend to those who deserved it. And, he could tell him about his grown children...Attie, Kiefer and Tahlia. How beautiful they all were and how big a role he had played in their decisions about life. It wouldn't be too hard to find him, no...afterall he was a Kalona so he was rather large, and those braides were unmistakeable.
A smile came to his face as the stallion thought about it. Yes, he'd left Astia in search of their children but a little side mission for Windflame didn't hurt. In fact...what if the old guy met one of them not so long ago and could tell him where they were?
Silently walking down the winding path, alone and content, dark brown eyes darted from corner to corner....searching.
Dangit, Bairn...

Huffing with much effort (well, not really), Blackfire toddle along at a snail's pace, feeling absolutely lost and, well, annoyed. What did it take to find one of her father's closest 'friends'?! Actually, she wasn't sure if this Bairn character was, per say, a friend, but then again, he could be. She knew he was of the common types, but was a very unusual character, having lived with a big family, and she quoted from her father, "a family that just does not stop growing." Her father wasn't good with contractions; he spoke deliberately and almost curtly, so that people could understand him better. He punctuated his words carefully, so that his words stayed securely within one's mind.
Such lessons would never be forgotten, and she felt appreciative of his life lessons, though she knew sometimes he never took his own advice. But then, not many people--soquili or otherwise--did, did they? Taking off into the air in the hopes she would discover some clue as to the whereabouts of this elusive normal stallion, she spotted a brown-ish, white stallion walking about below her, and thinking he might know something, she shot down with the grace of an aerial predator, landing just enough far away so as not to spook the other Soquili too much. And, for once, she was polite as she approached the other Soquili, who looked as old and wizened as her father, but maybe a little more so. "Excuse me, do you have a moment?" she asked, nodding politely.
"I am called Blackfire, and my request is if you know of a stallion named Bairn? I am searching for him; he is a friend of my father, a Kalona stallion who goes by the name Windflame," she described, tail braid flicking almost nervously. She wasn't that great speaking with older, wiser Soquili--having met only Soquili her age or just a bit older--and her blue eyes found that those dark brown eyes knew much about life. A lot, in fact. It was odd, she thought, suddenly, that this stallion looked far too similar to the description given to her about Bairn: in the stories of his meetings, Windflame had described this particular 'friend' of his with much care. Nearly brown all over, with a touch of white. His color could almost be described as fox-colored--almost, but his 'redness' tint was hard to see. He was almost golden, but had an odd personality, but a good heart.
Shaking her head mentally, she observed this older stallion with a calmness that wasn't her. She wondered if he knew Bairn, now she thought of it, and the name could be foreign to the male for all she knew. She made a hasty apology. "Oh! I'm sorry, but I should have asked if you knew him, this Bairn. So, uh, do you know him?" The other reason she was looking for Bairn was because she was supposed to give the stallion some friendly partings from her father, who said to tell Bairn he said 'hello' and other such friendlies. Nervous about her mistake at this politeness thing, she waited for the stallion to respond, hoping she hadn't spoken too quickly, and hoping she hadn't seemed erringly rude. Her wings twitched in nervousness and anticipation.

Her landing didn't spook him out at all, it was rather the fact that she came from the sky that scared him! The tanned stallion had forgotten that the soquili with wings were blessed with the ability to fly (obviously) and that Windflame could in fact, be flying at this very second!
It took a moment before Bairn let himself get a good luck at the mare because at first he was utterly regretting the fact that he let himself be so darn noticeable in the path. Traveling hidden so no idiotic young mare like the one before him could find him and want to talk. That's not what he wanted, at least from her. But eyes opened, the old stallion found himself staring at those braides that were so familiar....this mare suddently didn't seem all that annoying. So Bairn nodded to her in response to her question before she went on blabbering.
At first, the expression on his face was similiar to happy, but when the mare spoke of him and wanting to find him, it changed to surprised, and then when 'Windflame' and 'daughter' were put together the tanned stallion stopped thinking and just stared for a moment before his expression turned absolutely hysterical. "Oooh, you're kidding me right? Windflame with children? A daughter nonetheless? Oh that's priceless." Bairn kept laughing, despite the fact that the mare could now be quite offended.
"Excuse me, I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to laugh at you" He began, after his eyes were done watering and no more laughter could come out. "But yes I know him quite well. We're close. I mean...I am, afterall this Bairn you seek. In the flesh, young one. Why are you out looking for me?" Now that he stopped being foolish, the stallion could see the resemblance of Windflame and Blackfire. If the dogon name was too similiar enough, their black coat was pretty even.
A smile came after his own words, a very friendly whole hearted smile. Windflame sent his daughter out looking for a guy like him? Did that mean his old Kalona friend still cared, and actually thought of him as a friend? What an honor! Unless the reason was something completely different. He wore the same hysterical expression as before and now it was his turn to wait.

She was glad to see she hadn't spooked the older stallion, but she was pretty sure she had surprised quite well. From his fleeting expressions, he looked annoyed, and then as she had spoken, it went from annoyed, to cheerful, to chock, and he just stared at her, almost as if he was fighting to keep his jaw from dropping.
She raised an eyebrow at him, half expecting him to run because of the mention of her father's name, but instead, she got a surprise herself. He started laughing. She found herself too shocked to make an offended comment, let alone even get angry. She was just too confused. Why was he laughing...? Oh. "I'm not joking," she answered, point-blank and serious. "He has two daughters, mind you, sir, and the other one looks like a Kalona."
She was glad when he finally stopped laughing. She wasn't very comfortable with the idea that he might have been laughing at her, but in actuality he had been laughing at her father. She supposed her father wasn't the kind of guy to get children, but she knew he had wanted them. Well, wanted a son, anyway. Then her eyes just opened wide. "You're Bairn!?" she exclaimed, forgetting to keep her calm.
She was too excited, and obviously thrilled, to have finally found the infamous Bairn. She had loved the story Windflame had told her about the meeting with Bairn, and had always wanted to meet him ever since. "I was looking for you because I wanted to meet you," she explained. "My father kind of forced me to, but since I wanted to, I guess you can say he, uh, asked?" She shuffled her hooves with slight bit of embarrassment. "He sends his greetings," she added. She allowed a small smile to make its way to her face, though it probably turned out to be more of a smirk than a smile. She'd gotten that from her father, too.

Two daughters. There Windflame Bloodrider the oh-so scary and vicious Kalona had two daughters. It wasn't like he was mocking his old friend for he too had two daughters and a son, but just the thought of it was hiliarious. "So he mated with a wind?" Bairn asked, rather stupidly. Obviously he had to have if one of his daughters had the feathery wings.
Then it was her turn to be surprised, and it made him happy to see someone actually surprised or glad to see such as himself. Not many could say that they wanted to go looking for Bairn, for he was too snarky and rude. "Yup. I'm much older and wiser than your father remembers, but I'm still him."
Blackfire seemed overjoyed to see him, and the stallion had to say in return that he wasn't all that down for seeing her, either. The daughter of Windflame Bloodrider. Strange. But Bairn wondered how and what else she knew about him? Did his friend tell stories of his own idiocy? Or just said, 'Blackfire find Bairn for me. End of story!'
"Oh, really?" He stammered, taken back. Wanted to meet him? Again, who besides his family cared enough? "Aw, well tell your Father that it's very kind of him and it means a lot to me, and send my regards back. Oh, and if you don't mind tell him I have three miracles of my own now." Bairn nodded slowly, returning the smile. They were too much alike, father and daughter...
"So uh...this is me! Not so great up close, eh?" The tanned stallion asked her, half joking and half serious. He wondered how long she had been up in the sky watching him...or did it just randomly happen...?

Blackfire couldn't help it: the way Bairn had phrased the question had her laughing so hard tears developed but didn't fall. It was far too hilarious, though the answer was obvious. She should probably enlighten Bairn on how it happened. "Well, you could say that, if you looked at me. Actually, my father wasn't really intending it to happen, but you know, he did. My mother's like this purity charm on him." She added the last part quietly, not wanting to mention how she had seen her father letting loose his true rage.
He hadn't harmed anyone, but it was terrifying to see him that way. His eyes bleeded thoroughly red, his fangs seemed to grow sharper and longer, his horns terrifying as he had tossed his head about. It was rare fit of rage, but it was because a predator--an intruder--had entered his territory, and had threatened his family. He was so enraged Blackfire thought he'd never return to normal, but her mother came to stop him and he calmed down, as if her very scent was the only thing he recognized enough to become rational. It was frightening, very frightening.
"I'll tell him," she said, cheerfully enough. "I loved the story of how he met you! It's one of my favorites, and that's how come I know about you. And before you start thinking weird stuff, my father says you're highly intelligent and wise, if brash and sometimes bull-headed." She grinned widely at the way her father had said it was well, because she had quoted him on it as she was talking to Bairn. "Yes, so it is you," she repeated, looking him over. "Better close up, because now I can see why my dad thought you were interesting!" she chimed, body quivering with laughter though there was no such sound leaving her throat.
Her eyes danced, though, proving that she was highly amused. "I was looking for you everywhere on land, but I took off into the sky a little while ago, before I spotted you." She answered his silent question without realizing he was thinking it, but she was making polite conversation. "What about you? What were you doing around out here? You're very close to where I live," she added, not exactly giving away the location. Windflame liked to keep his whereabouts hidden and therefore she had to be vague, even to someone he knew.

He stared at her rather questionably. Okay, so him laughing wasn't terribly rude and there was a good reason as to why he had laughed but her?! She did it harder than he had, and randomly. Not until Blackfire spoke did he understand.
Slightly.
She was laughing at herself being a wind? What? "Uh, alright. That's excellent. I suppose it was the other way around for my mate and I. She didn't want children since she was too young but I was gladly accepting their arrival."
If only Bairn knew of the secret that Windflame had done. He would have (without realizing it) automatically classify that stallion as a true Kalona, one like Diabetia who wasn't afraid to kill. Just the simple sight of blood or smell of it on a creature like her and he knew. But Windflame wasn't like that....
...if only he knew.
"Oh you do, do you? Well Blackfire I'm sure he stretches the truth a little bit with his story!" The old stallion laughed heartedly, secretly loving the fact that he was famous. "Intelligent, wise, brash and bull-headed! Oh, your dear Father pretty much nailed that one on the head!" Bairn nodded slowly before giving her a questioning look. "Oh? How am I living up to your Father's story, then?"
He blinked and chuckled to himself at her answer to his question. Had she known what he was thinking? "I see. Glad to come out of nowhere and be noticable for you then! And I was looking for my children. They disappear a lot and it's tearing me apart. Do you and Windflame spend a lot of time together?"

She wanted to tell the older stallion that he was lucky to have met her first; life with who she was living with wasn't exactly the best, and considering the circumstances, she was surprised the two-legger that Windflame visited--on occasion to have his eerily long hair fixed up--was not yet dead. Other experiences had taught her that her father was very capable of killing his own family had he not trained himself to have such control as he did now. She worried he was slowly going insane, but did not mention the fact to Bairn, whom she thought was one of few who understood her father--despite their fleeting reunions. If they had any, other than the first time they met.
"My father was pretty surprised, but he wasn't surprised at all, I guess. In fact, you could say he was pretty disinterested about it, in a way..." she explained, almost with a touch of sadness. "He wanted a son, but he never did get what he wanted." The only good thing about it is he didn't rape anyone, she thought to herself. Morals and honor seemed to be a strictly honor-bound thing with her father, but he was a mysterious Kalona not even her mother fully understood... Blackfire wondered if her mother had fallen for Windflame because he had rescued her from a swarm of bees--that was how they had first met, but her father had hinted it was because Ringlet had intruded into his forest. His territory.
He had later taught his mother how to fly, since she was obviously being ridiculous in Windflame's eyes, as Ringlet seemed unable to fly. She still didn't fly as well as she should, but that was fine. She didn't seem to mind such a prospect, and Blackfire only hoped her father would continue to stay sane... as much as he could be. "You're living up to it pretty well," she avoided saying his name, because she wasn't sure how to address him yet, "...You really are sarcastic." Sarcasm dripped from her tone as well, but it was said with well meaning. She eyed him with concern. "Your family split apart? But isn't your entire family like that? My father told me that the eldest of your family--in line of siblings--was pretty torn up. Aruna, I think her name was. Stories are so highly entertaining these days." She was ignoring his last question, wanting to save the answer to it for the last moment. She hardly spent time with her father since the days of her foalhood. Once she had grown, though, her father had distanced himself... it was hard to understand, but at the same time... she knew, but she kept it to herself.

The young wind would be surprised at just how lucky she was to have a Mother and Father-both of whom weren't vicious and cruel. If only she had told him the story he wouldn't have pittied her. He would have given her a stern father-like look for even doubting her life when creatures out there were suffering a whole hell of a lot more than her. Of course, the tanned stallion would have also understood her pain for he had gone through a lot when he was younger. Perhaps that was it, age. Dark brown eyes stared into her own blue ones as she didn't talk for a while...wondering what she was thinking. She was so young and probably didn't technically understand have the things she saw...
"That's terrible, Blackfire I'm sure that's not the truth. Your Father, to me, didn't seem like the type to be uninterested in children." Bairn was going to say something else but that would only contradict Astia. "He loves you now, right?" For his mate did, now...and it pained her that they were gone more than it did himself. She did the best mothering job any mare (besides his own) had ever done, and he wasn't the greatest father...
"Good" The stallion simply stated, knowing already that he was very sarcastic. But that was who he was and if others didn't like it, screw them.
But then the conversation was directed towards something that didn't need to be said. "Don't talk about my family like you know them, girl." He spat, demenor quickly changing. "Don't even say Aruna's name, she's been through more crap than you ever will experience with a non-loving father. And entertaining? The story of my sister's pain is entertaining to you? What, funny? Good? Interesting? You have no idea who she really is, you have no idea and neither does your father. He cannot talk just because he 'knows' her. And my family for that matter. 'But isn't your entire family like that?'" Bairn repeated, mocking her with a vicious tone. "Ha! You say that as if you know. Well, it's the truth but I'm trying to fix it, girl. By looking for my children it will give me a small glimmer of hope-you!" Uh! The stallion stared at her, panting softly. No one talked about them anymore. He didn't want to hear it.

"He's interested, and uninterested. I don't know how to explain better than that," said Blackfire, her blue eyes somewhat clouded to prove she was thinking hard. "I guess you can say he 'loves' me," she approved. "But it's better phrased as 'overprotective tolerance'. He has the same feelings for each of us--that is, my mother, my sister, and me--and I can only presume that he will stay that way for a little while longer before..." she cut off, feeling a bit upset as she continued thinking about it. At the rate this was going, she was going to have to fight against her father soon; something she didn't want to do, nor want to see in the coming future. Her father might even abandon the family... but perhaps that was typical Kalona behavior... she didn't know. Her father kept his past tightly locked and refused to speak of it other than what he had done in more recent times. To her, that made Windflame seem ageless--older, and yet younger--and very far away.
She didn't like his tone of voice any better than when he had told her he was searching for his children. She wanted to make Bairn suffer for acting like that towards her... Blackfire shook her head. The blood was getting to her, and she hung her head, ashamed by both what she said and how she had almost attacked the older stallion. It was hard not to give in to Kalona instincts from time to time, but she was lucky--and very grateful--that her mother's blood overpowered her father's in her current state: not like her sister, who had more Kalona blood than Wind. Perhaps, though, Blackfire contemplated, the reason many Soquili 'suffered'--so to speak--was due to their emotions going overdrive, or perhaps it was the situation they had been put in. Either way, she knew that only Kalona soquili--and perhaps a few of the lesser as well (she grew up thinking all the other species were lesser) had some chaos.
"I said that as if I know?" She was a bit tense now, gritting her teeth to keep from snapping at Bairn. "I say it that way because it's all I know! I only know vague details and even my father only comments now and then on it! Besides, how would you know that your sister is still in pain? I'm sure she's happy now, and if you want to remind her of what happened in the past, go ahead!" Blackfire spat, rage coursing through her veins. "I don't know what it is with all you older generations, but you all seem to love to dwell upon the past and refuse to take a different path and move on to a different future! You could alway carve your own way! Why... I mean, come on!! Instead of looking for your offspring," Blackfire continued relentlessly, her eyes looking close to bleeding red... but only her father had that terrifying ability, "why aren't you back with your own mate, taking care of her? I'm sure your children will return to you when they wish! It's not like they'll be gone forever!"
Her voice had reached the peak and was now like a soft, semi-high pitched, bellow as she finished her rant. "My father is in an unstable state right now, and the only way for me to feel safe--and unwatched, and not nagged, and not scolded!--is to wander around on my own, learning things on my own! Don't you get it yet, you old fool!?" She panted, trying to calm herself. "Have you ever thought, once, to visit your own parents, the grandparents of your children? Have you never thought, once, on the reason why you left your parents to wander around in the world? Have you ever thought, once, if your children were doing the exact same thing you did when you were younger?" She demanded, much softer, still stern and firm, but gentler. "Do you even realize why my father sent me out to find you?" she asked finally, quietly. "He is... concerned, Bairn. Despite his unstable state, an old stallion like you seemed to have left an impression on him, and he is... concerned. About you."

The hard eyes that he held so viciously only seconds before softened when she spoke. So perhaps she knew of the hardships in life, but nothing near as difficult as his own. Right? This Blackfire really did have her Father's knack for talking too, he noted as she kept right on explaining herself. It made the tanned stallion smile ever so carefully.
But he watched as the young mare tensed up at his words, the hatred (or was that the Kalona wanting to come out...?) was visible on her face and stance. There she was, not only a Windflame Bloodrider in appearance, apart from the wing difference, but him in a sense of personality.
Bairn tore his thoughts into shreds as the mare piped up again, this time a lot more vicious like himself. Ah, indeed. "My sister isn't in pain obviously. She's happy like you say but still. I'd rather you not talk like you know her...you..." His voice was calm, trying not to lash out on a creature so delicate as her. Like his own daughter, who hated even the slightest of tone changes. The stallion listened to Blackfire's words whole heartedly and with every word she spoke, her father seemed to appear in front of him. "My mate is happy knowing that I'm looking for them! You have no idea of her even more than my sister. I come back to her all the time. She just wants to see them again, I'm doing this for her! God damnit what an ignorant ignorant fool you are!" He spat back with even more force in his eyes than her.
Although Bairn tried with every once of control in his body, NOT to raise his voice to the young mare. That's not what she needed even though she was doing it to him. "Well my family is different then yours. Much, I may add and that's your choice! If you loved your father enough you'd stay by his side in his unstable state! You wouldn't wander wanting to be 'free', young one!" But then she hit him where it truly hurt. His own past that drove him into near insanity. The part where he practically ripped apart Astia and himself...
It was the stallion's turn to hang his own head below hers, staring darts at the ground. A small, and lonely tear was forming on the end of his eye before he even got the courage to speak up. "I...don't remind me. My parents are perfectly fine with their children not seeing them, they have another batch that's goody-two-shoes and stays with them all the time. They know...they understand...don't talk about my parents. I left because...well I cannot remember why I left but now I can't return. My own children are different then myself and my sisters. They don't get what we had to go through..." Bairn didn't move from his gaze on the ground, his voice still lingering in the air, a soft and sad tone to it.
"Concerned? About me? Why would he ever be concerned about the likes of me? I should be the one worried about my old friend, as you say, if he's in an unstable state...."

She didn't know she probably appeared like her father to Bairn; with the way she spoke and how she reacted to his own words. Of course, her father probably spoke a lot more calmly and with more amusement in his eyes than she was right now; if she remembered correctly, Windflame had thought Bairn was interesting company and a valued friend. More than likely, her father probably appeared to Bairn as someone who observed life with impassive input, and wise words. She wasn't like that at all; she just... went with the flow.
She bristled, bracing herself for when her Kalona blood was demanding her to just rip this stallion to pieces. It was painful for her when the demands of her dark blood started taking control, where she would grow fangs and her hooves sharpened. Her eyes remained impassive for a moment, and then the blood receded as she stuffed back to its prison. She could not and would not attack a friend of her father's; there was too much at risk. "You should probably check up on her from time to time, then," she commented through gritted teeth. "I've heard rumors she's been visiting a two-legger and her stallion." When Bairn snapped at her, it shocked her enough to shake her out of her haze of small blood-lust. Frowning at herself, she paid attention sharply as he spoke.
"...I'm sorry," she said quietly, when he called her an ignorant fool. Perhaps she was exactly just that... "I don't love my father," she interruped him, eyes growing hard. "I don't think love is the right word. I don't love him. I admire him. He is my idol; a vision of who I want to grow up and become someone great. But I do not love him." That was a statement she hadn't meant to let slip, but it was true. Windflame did not exactly 'love' his daughters, anymore than he 'loved' his mate. Blackfire had figured out her father had probably gotten confused over the word's meaning. She only knew her father held a deep affection for her mother, and a protective tolerance for her and her sister.
Blackfire watched as the single tear droplet form from under the older stallion's eye. She found she could not feel pity, or sympathy, but she said nothing as she debated on the issue. "You really think so?" she asked, prompting him. "Do you really think that your parents are happy that their children don't see them? I'm sure they're happy with your younger siblings, but they also would love to see you and your other siblings as well. It sounds like you have issues you still haven't solved." Blackfire made a noise of disapproval, both at herself and at Bairn, because now she was just contradicting herself, and her mood became sour because she knew.
"He's concerned you're out to try and kill yourself," she pointed out. "He even joked and said he wouldn't mind being the one to kill you if you needed it. My father's never joked before. He is unstable, yes, so he is unpredictable as of late." She shuffled her wings and moved them to hide the small scars she had received from Windflame when she was a foal from Bairn's view. He didn't need to see them to know why she was terrified of going near her father after that last escapade.

Indeed, they had their differences but it was just like looking in a mirror for one thing. And it didn't help that Bairn had unknowingly missed his Kalona friend. She was just another way, another view of him. Whether they were truly alike or not, he couldn't help but want her to actually be him.
For the tanned stallion's sake, he was greatful to be a 'friend' of her fathers, for if they were enemies...this mare just might as well attack him. And being a gentleman like he was, too (hardly) Bairn could not attack back. "Oh, really? Which stallion might that be?" His interest peeked a new level since this mystery stallion was probably someone he should be concerned about. But her next words quickly snapped him out of the thoughts of his stallion. "You...what? Oh, my. Well I'm sorry but not loving your own father is truly horrible. If he's a vicious man-eating whatever then yes I could understand. But being a father myself, I don't like the fact that my children might not love me. It was although, true that Windflame didn't seem like the type to love the way one was supposed to and it probably hurt poor Blackfire but she could at least make the feeling one-sided. Right?
And now the mare was badgering him, trying to make Bairn hurt even more than he had in the past. Or even at that moment. "No, not happy I never said 'happy'. They just don't mind. Mother doesn't, at least and I know if she doesn't then Father won't. My Mother just likes knowing that her babies are safe. And well, Aruna, Artemis and I will always be more than safe. Plus." The stallion paused to let out a rather sad sigh. "Artemis seemed to have disappeared completely and I cannot find Aruna. I'd like for the whole family to meet once again, not just me." This mare's words were very strong-she definitely knew was she was talking about. Just something about them made it all seem a bit ridiculous. Like he was a child again.
But then his mood changed with the coming of her next words. A laugh as loud as before escaped his throat and he stared at her funny. "What? Kill myself? Why would I ever do such a thing? And why would be willingly kill a friend...I...?" Bairn stood there, rather shocked and amused with the news of Windflame's 'concern'.

Blackfire couldn't have been more wrong about herself when she said she didn't love her father: indeed, she did love him, but the feeling was deep within the recesses of her heart and unaccessible. The young mare truly believed she only tolerated her father; she didn't love him, only offered her respects because she was part of her father's blood; a creation through him and her mother. An object, Blackfire would soon realize, to take down her father when he truly lost his sanity.
"The rumor spoke no name; I only heard he was a dark tan, almost golden in color. Lively character," she described vaguely. Actually, rumors were something Blackfire had to thrive on to understand the ever growing Soquili world, but then, she didn't really know all that much to start with. "You are a lesser... of course you wouldn't understand," she replied with such frigidness she might as have been an ice cube. "He doesn't eat men. They don't have the life force necessary for him to continue his odd way of living," she spat out scathingly, blue eyes like ice crystals. She was hiding behind her cold mask, but only because, like her, she and Bairn were unintentionally hurting each other as they dug up each other's past.
"Things for you will hopefully improve, then," she continued on, but now her features were impassive; impossible to read and explore the workings of her mind. Now, Blackfire seemed to have transformed into what her father was the very essence of... not that she knew. It was merely a trick she had picked up from her father, who, on occasion, allowed some of his emotion to show. At the point, however, Blackfire did not show a thing, though her tone and voice said differently. She might as well have been a statue for all stiffness she was upholding. "I see. Then I hope your entire family comes to qualms with its problems... whatever those problems may be."
She almost allowed a cold smile to appear. Did the old fool still not get it? She wasn't making sense, she supposed, but still, he did not understand. "Kill yourself.... kill myself..." she repeated, eyes narrowing. "Fool. My father is concerned about you, yes... but if he was 'joking' about killing you... there is much more than meets the eye you have to worry about." She was slowly revealing the reason why she had come out to Bairn... the lies she she spun, the semi-truths she had spoken. Maybe if she had given a more direct approach Bairn would understand. His sarcasm would certainly be a remarkable improvement if it showed he understood the prying situation.
