My sister and I are in this acting class together and we would like to to a scene, but for the life of me I cannot think of a scene with two young ladies or with two sisters. Our teacher wants us to play girls around our own age (so that'd be 12 - 18 ) and they have to be girls. We'd like to do something light and comedic so we thought maybe a scene with Helena and Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream--but as great as that play is I'd like to do something from this century (not to sound pretentious or rude or anything). Does anyone know of a scene we can play or a play/movie/show we can look at? I'm really stumped here.

Since I'm new to this guild maybe I should introduce myself o.o
I'm gonna do this in profile form cus I don't like writing about myself very much XD
Name: Samantha Jo Rodriguez. Age: 17 (as of July 23rd woooo) Location: New York, NY Physical Appearance: (for all you cating directors ninja ---kidding! I'm kidding) 5'3ish", average build, very lightly tanned skin, dark brown eyes, medium length curly brown hair with natural red and blonde highlights, uh...and I have a nose....and all my teeth Oo yeah... Plays: I haven't done any of the classics, mostly just children's plays for the lower camp at summer camp, school plays with my drama club, and scenes in my acting class--nothing professional as of yet. I hope to soon though. Media: A lot of you are going to hate me for this, but I really want to do movies--I would like to do theatre of course, but being that I can't sing my choices are very limited..
I think that's it Oo that may even be more information than you all needed to know XD

I think Brighton Beach Memoirs has a good scene between the two sisters. They're both teens.

There''s a funny little scene called Phyllis and Xenobia (by Christopher Durang). The characters are supposed to be women in their 30''s to 60''s, but I think you can play it as two girls in their late teens or early 20''s.

Brighton Beach Memoirs has a good scene. Very sad and monologue-ish, but it's good. Lot's of typical sisterly arguing:
Nora: Stop staring at me! Laurie: I'm not staring at you! I'm just staring into space. I can't help it if you're in the way!
There's some good material in Gypsy, but it also entails singing, so if you're not into that, I'd give that a 'no'.
Break a leg, you guys!

You can also do the dialogue between Gwendolyn and Cecily in the Importance of Being Earnest (sorry, I'm obssesed with this play) during the part where they serve each other tea and cake.

That is such an awesome scene! I swear I almost peed myself. I don't care what anyone says, Oscar Wilde was a comic genius.

HOPE THIS HELPS You have to remember that those aren't plays. They're musicals. The way musicals work is that they go into song when the drama gets to a certain point. That's why in musicals there are usually only about three lines between two people before breaking into song.

Sometimes it can work, though Fame-the musical, for example, has a couple of scenes that can be done as a scene for a project (a conversation between Mabel and Carmen before the title song might work, but it's short-ish, but most of the good duet speaking scenes are better for male/male and male/female)

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to post something from these scenes or where I might find them online?
