Well, when I was at camp with some other girls, we went hiking. It was Sunday, so we stopped to have a small church service. One of the ladies there read something, but I can't remember what. I can post it as soon as I can get her to email it to me if you want.

A while ago a preist at the church I go to was preching and said an interesting story, true and interesting: when he was a kid he once picked an apple from his neighbours tree and ate it (stealing), the next day his parents found out and made him pick all the apples from the tree for the neighbour- now I thought to myself " that would be good if the world was like that, if you sin, you have to make up for it with a good deed, that would solve some of our problems, but it will never happen because of al the greedy people in the world.

Every week our pastor giveso ut an outline for his sermon. I figured every week me and vent can switch off and give the same sermon our pastor gives us. You guys can do yours too if you'd like.
this week was called "does God control your heart?" The scripture is from Matthew 22:34-40
The question: why does God want our heart? Why does he say for us to have no other Gods before him? Why does he want first place in our lives? To us the heart is the holder of our passions or our love, it can be "broken" or "healed" according to how we're treated. To a doctor, a heart is the part of the body that controls the blood, and keeps everything alive. To God, our heart is the center of our being. God wants our heart because in our heart, we find our pain and pleasures, our memories of the past whether they're good or bad. God wants to rid of the bad and make the good more prominent for us. What is our heart? Its the memory bank of the things that have happened to us. If God can be the holder of these things we're in for a much better life. But if we get attached to sin, everything turns upside down. Sin warps the pains found in our hearts and turns them into killing agents. It warps the pleasureable experiences stored up in our hearts and makes them into snstigators of self-righteousness, selfishness, possessiveness, self sufficiency, and pride. God wants our hearts because we find our faith. Romans 10:10 says "FOr it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Sin also warps the prospects found in our heart. It creates a lack of faith in famiy, relationships, yourself, and can ruin all the good in you're life. it can ruin your faith in God. There are people out there, even on gaia with sigs that say "if god loves us so much, why does he make us suffer?" this is a perfect example. God puts obstacles in front of you, but he gave you a conscience to make your own decisions, the path you chose if YOUR own doing. If a bad consequence results from your choice Its YOUR fault, not Gods. Sin uses pleasureable experiences, like sex to create fait hin everything EXCEPT God. God wants our hearts for our passions, and attention. Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." if you put yoru treasure in God, your whole being will be there." The passions God wants determine your character, and attitude. Sin corrupts these passions. Verse to think of. : 1st samuel 16:7 "But the Lord said to Samuel, "do not consider his appearance or his height, for i have rejected him, the lord doesnt now look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance. but the lord looks at the heart." tell me any thoughts you may have on this.

This weeks sermon was called "Impacting Our Community for Christ." Scripture 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
We are going to look at OUR responsibility as Christians to go out into the world and invite friends, family, and co-workers to church with us.
-FirstWe need to realize that to be effective, we need to have our own life in order because if we are not living the christian life there is nothing in our life that another person would want. John 3:16 explains that some day we may have to die for those who don't know jesus.
-Alot of people are afraid of change but change, good or bad, exists everyday. Those who have reached the age 100 have seen many radical changes in their life time. The moral climate also sees radical change. Ex: Nude scenes tolerable on television, Homosexual marriages, etc. Even though we are uncomfortable with many of the changes in our culture we must also understand that this is the culture to which we have been called to minister.
-Some things never change. Jesus, the bible, and divine principles, never change. Hebrews 13:8 states "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." 1 Peter 1:23 states"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable through the living and enduring word of God." Those two scriptures show that Jesus and the bible never change and never will!
-Some things, however, Do change. We change as we grow older. Phsyically, mentally, emotionally, and spirtually. The christian memory in our country is also changing. 30 or 40 years ago when you asked someone about Moses or Peter they would know exactly who it was out of knowledge and memory. Now a days if you ask someone who Moses is they mistake him for Noah. The very first verse of the bible tells us that God is a God of change. Not meaning that he changes but he creates change. Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created.."
- Tradition and traditionalism are two different things. Tradition is wonderful, traditionalism is not. Tradition values the past and the way god has moved in history. Traditionalism embraces only what has gone before. Ex: God your only to work this way.
-Some ways to meet the challenge! 1. We MUST minister to our culture without compromising our message. 2. To meet the challenge of ministering to our culture without compormising our message, We must be willing to embrace new methods, and practice the Art of Becoming.
-Paul became as a Jew to the Jews, that is, to those under the law.
-Paul became weak to the weak christian.
-Paul clearly states his purpose for conforming to the customs and opinions of men.
If you have any questions, comments, statements, or anything to add feel free to do so. God bless and have a great week.

You did your part by inviting them, that's the best you can do. If they don't come it's their choice you did what you could!

This week's lesson is called: "Speaking In Love." Scripture:Romans 12:1-2; 9-11
Question to think about: How do we keep the unity of Christ in our relationships? What do we needm to do to live about the constant friction of relational struggles that so many find themselves in?
1. As Christians, we are to love Sincerly -What is true love? As stated in 1 corinthians 13:4 'Love is Patient, love is Kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserves.'
-Jesus is our model when it comes to loving everyone. No matter what wrongs a person declares there is ALWAYS something left to love.
2. As christians we are to cling constantly. If the person is full of hate and pushes you away don't leave them back or judge them. Cling to them. Hate the sin, LOVE the sinner.
-Often we set ourselves up as the "sin police". We see sin from everyone else but we don't pick it out from ourselves. First, we are not involved in the work of the Lord, so we have the time to be critical of others. Second, we do not extend to people the grace that Christ gave us. We have to cling to the good of people.
3. As christians we are to honor Graciously Philippians 2:3-4; "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value of others above yourselves, not loking to your own interests but each to the interests of others.
4. As christians we are to serve zealously. 1 Peter 4:10; "Each of you should use whatever gift you have recieved to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
Conclusion: Every one has problems with other people wether its a sibling, parent, co-worker, student, friend, etc. However we have to learn to hold back and just cling to there good. Show them true love.
