Article + Pics Wow. I wish more people had the motivation that this couple has! Although I'm a non-believer, I think it's good that people can turn to their deities (God, in this case/article) for that sort of motivation. Most people turn to God and ask him why they made them this way and why he's punishing them and blabla... and it's good to see that some people finally realize that it's their own fault they are the way they are, that their God didn't create them to suffer, and finally take it into their own hands to get in control through the love of their God instead of condemning him. Thoughts, anyone? :]

Whoaaah, 580 pounds. That's amazing!
Sometimes I feel like I'll never be able to shed the 45 pounds I've been working at, because it seems like such a huge number.
.. Then I look at pictures of people like this and I'm like "nevermind, I've got it easy!"
I'm an atheist myself but I think people should use whatever motivation they have in order to lose weight.

Wow - omg they lost that much o_o that's a lot!! Good for them, I think that's great mrgreen . Most people find it hard to find motivation - I say whatever floats your boat and use whatever you can "grab a hold of" that will motivate you, even if it's something small in the long run it could turn out to be very helpful...

I am a believer, but I've had it drilled into me just as my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother had it drilled into them, that you have to put legs on your prayers or they'll never get anywhere. Put another way, "Pray as if everything depends on God; act as if everything depends on you." I can ask God to help me be a little more positive and cheerful about exercising or about trying healthier foods, but I can't ask God to magically remove weight from my body, since I was the one who put it on there in the first place. God works within the natural laws that he created, so I have to work within them, too.
Looking to God for inspiration, willpower, and a positive attitude? Par for the course, but also priceless, IMO. Looking to God to do the work for you? Stupid.

My mom actually joined that program once, but she had a hard time relating to the other people taking it with her, so she stopped after a couple of months. I think it's great, though, that they could look to each other and to God for those kind of mutual goals and meet them. Thanks for posting the story, Frau. biggrin
