Okay, there are so many kinds & titles & authors you'll have to point out your favorites.
I know there is (somebody or others) who do like Harry Potter books. I personally haven't read the 6th yet, so that goes for this 7th / latest book. (My mum has finished them all though) sweatdrop There was news somewhere that J.K. Rowling's was going to create an 8th book. But perhaps with new characters. I'd think it would be cool to have a new female lead character. 3nodding
As far as my current favorite books.. (I prefer the fictional , fantasy , sci-fi, paranormal sort)
Good Omens ~ by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman heart (A Cult Classic)
Evil Genius ~ by Catherine Jinks heart (Sort of with a evil university setting, Think Harry Potter schooling yet.. not magical, all professional criminal sort of learning twisted )(I can't even explain the entirety of it) Modern, Mysterious, Intriguing Intrigue)
Stardust ~ by Neil Gaiman (Movie coming out in August!) (But! it has been (of course) very much altered for the movie audience)
Any books by Terry Pratchett heart Example: Monstrous Regiment

I like most every fantasy story... xp Anyways I like pretty much any book by Bruce Coville, Margaret Peterson Haddix, or Andrew Clements. I love the Gregor the Overlander series/Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins. (That's the same set of books in case that was confusing... sweatdrop ) And my favorite books would probably be Heir Apparent by Vivian Vande Velde and Spellfall by Katherine Roberts. (Neither one of these books are in a series)

HADDIX!! I collect her Shadow Children books!! Such a great series! And Heir Apparent is a really good book.
I really like dragon related books, and books that follow mice. A few of my favorites include The Harper Hall Trilogy (Dragonsinger Dragonsong and Dragondrums) By Anne Mccaffrey, Blue Sword and The Hero and The Crown, by Robin McKinley For mice books, "A Mouse Called Wolf" is a really short, really easy read, but absolutely adorable.
Umm, other good books... AH! The Deryni related books by Katherine Kurtz are absolutely wonderful. If I can remember them, the first trilogy is High Deryni, Deryni Rising, and Deryni Checkmate. Not sure that's the order, but that follows King Kelson, Morgan, and Father Duncan. Another Deryni trilogy would be Legends of Camber of Culdi, consisting of Camber of Culdi, St. Camber, Camber of Heretic.
I love reading short stories. I would defiantly suggest "Death Swatch." It's a hilarious story, the Dark Lord (or whatever he's called) has the elven princess locked up in a tower, and plans to marry her. She consents, only after her country is threatened in-a-way-I-won't-say-but-is-hilariously-unexpected. Things just get sillier from there. Highlight to see threat: Picnic baskets!! Orcs, with Picnic baskets. Eating food that "looked and smelled like landfill." Silly, I know.
I also have a short story in my journal, if anyone is interested. When I was in elementary school, we had a guest come in to help us with story telling. The short story in my journal was one of the stories that he told so that we could get a good idea of story telling. I defiantly don't do as good of a job as he did, but it's there for all to read.
Five more good books, then I'm done for the night. First: "The Divide" and "Back to the Divide" by Elizabeth Kay. Two excellent books, both in the same series. It's about a person from our world, who accidentally goes into a parallel world, where magic rules instead of science, but either can be used in either world. (IE: Science in the other world, Magic here.) But that's not all. Over there, any mythical creatures we have here are real over there, and Humans are mythical creatures. The other three books, are of the Stravagante series, City Of Masks, City Of Stars, and City Of Flowers, by Mary Hoffman. This is also a world-traveling series, of which, three people (one per book) find objects from Talia, the other world, and travel there. Talia is similar to our world, but it is about 400 years behind, technologically speaking, and has magic as well.
Yes, I do read a lot of books by girls.

People keep talking about Harry Potter... It's probably just because the 7th book came out, but one of my other friends really seemed to have enjoyed it.
I haven't gotten any physical books in a long while though. I used to read alot, but they were mostly pointless stories that I don't really remember today. Besides some of Roald Dahl's books.
Lately though, I've been getting into reading e-books. Books that are in PDF files, Web pages and word documents. I've found tons of places where I could download many different books, and I could probably find Harry Potter (even the 7th book) in a short amount of time if I looked.
They save so much money and time, you have no idea.
So far I've been reading Twilight and New Moon. It's pretty interesting, not exactly what I was expecting, but fun to read. I'm actually excited for the 3rd book to come out even though I'm not finished reading New Moon yet. xD

Let see books I really enjoy.
Alex Kava novels, she is a great thriller writer and I love the way she portrays her characters feelings.
Mechwarrior novels, such a great series its so in-depth and everything is carefully entwined, I kind of wish I was a mech-pilot and lived in that reality :[ but sadly, no such thing... yet..
Isaac Asimov's robot stories, hes a good writer and his robot stories are wonderful. He invented the idea of the robot, and the word robotics, very good novels and shorts.
Black Sun, I don't remember who it was by but it is probably one of the most interesting sci-fi novels I have EVER read.
Those are my favorites I guess.

I do love the Potter books. The 8th book is going to be a Harry Potter encyclopedia, by the way.
My favorites, however, are the books and comics by Neil Gaiman. Stardust, Good Omens, Sandman, American Gods, Fragile Things...love 'em all.
I'm currently reading a fantasy novel called The Mirror of Her Dreams. It's written by Stephen R. Donaldson. I bought it on a whim at a flea market for 50 cents, and was pleasantly surprised when I found that I like it.
Charles de Lint books. He doesn't get enough respect and readers from the teenage crowd, and I don't see why. He has one Young Adult book that I know of, The Blue Girl, and that was pretty good, but the real treasure is found in his regular books. They're amazing.
Holly Black! Specifically, her Modern Faery Tale series. (I tried to read the Spiderwick Chronicles, and just couldn't get into them.)
And lastly, Stephanie Meyer. Lovely vampire books. Kinda mushy, but that makes them all the better.

Books are my life!!!
My preferred Genre is Fantasy, mostly the Forgotten Realms novels. Some of my favorite series are;
- All of the Drizzt Do'Urden novels (especially, Legacy of the Drow ) - Anita Blake series (especially Guilty Pleasures ) - Elminster (all of em, but mostly Elminster: the making of a Mage and Elminster: In Myth Drannor ) - War of the Spider Queen - Harry Potter books 1-7 (2 being the best)
Some single novels (non-series) that i enjoy are;
- Geisha, A life - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Wicked - The Lady Penitent (will be a trilogy follow-up from the War of the Spider Queen series) and many many more, but I can't think of anything. Maybe I'll add them another day.

Some of my favorite books...
Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck (duh) A Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling (also duh) Song of Solomon, by Toni Morrison The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss
I also like Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man even though Song of Solomon is painfully similar in content. I read Song of Solomon before Invisible Man. I guess I like Ellison's novel more because it came before Morrison's, and I wrote a kickass paper on it.
