Seemingly the most peaceful place in the normal realm of Earth. The sound of crashing waves and moving sand is beautiful to the ear of one searching for peace. Many who have lost purpose in life have come here to drift away with the sea. Others who need to escape the fighting arrive here for solitude, and to regain their strength.

The ocean breeze whips through Logan's dark brown hair as he gazes out into the sea. Memories; some old, some new, ripple across his mind. Standing there on the the pier Logan feels content and for the first time in a long time, happy. The snapping of his pants and cloak reeled him back into reality. Like all the other times his sense of happiness is snatched from him. Then the hunger rips itself through his stomach, sending him crashing to his knees, teeth bared.

"No, please... not now."

Memories flood his mind once more. This time memories of his past after the inccident. Memories full of anger, rage, and blood. Holding onto the sliver of humanity he has left, he crawls to the edge of the pier and gazes into the water. After a few minutes the hunger leaves and Logan stumbles to his feet and pulls his hood over his head. He knows he has to leave, but where. To him it doesn't matter, just as long as he doesn't hurt another innoccent being. As he leaves the pier he turns to look at the ocean one last time. Hoping he can see it again sometime, but for now he has to depart. He faces forward and looks up into the sky, sun piercing into the darkness of his hood only light the glimmer of his silver eyes. Logan starts a paced run towards a vast forest. Covering a distance this vast will take weeks.

Birds. Seagulls, that's what they were called. They were everywhere. And so loud! The flocks made so much noise. It was like they were screaming at each other. How would they ever know when someone was upset with them if everyone was always screaming anyway? The thought made Nikki giggled. "Silly birds," she laughed, then continued her humming. She had come here, hoping that perhaps one of the traders that used the sea would need help, but so far, she had had no luck whatsoever. It had been three weeks since Master Kito had passed away, and still she looked for a job. But that simply meant that she had not found the right person yet. There was no need to get worried, not for another few weeks, at least. The family was doing well, what with two less people and the steady milling job her brother had taken. Yes, there was no need to worry.

Nikki passed through the peaceful cove, and stepped around a sane dune, just in time to see a man drop to his knees quite a ways off. "Oh, dear," the girl whispered, quickly running forward, looking to see if she could help him in some way. Before she could get there, though, he was up again, and turning away, walking towards the distant forest. "Should he really be trying to make that long trip?" she wondered to herself. Though she wasn't sure why he had fallen in the first place, there was obviously some reason, and it might perhaps be dangerous. "Sir!" She called after him, but there was no way of knowing whether or not he would hear her. Or if he would turn, even if he did.

Nadroj walked into the ocean water to rinse his body. The blood from the last village he crushed had dried and caked itself to him. As the oceans currents pounded against his body the blood stained the crytal blue waters. He was so exhausted from his fight with Hikaru that once all of the blood was gone he fell to his knees. His eyes grew heavy as his limbs did the same.
He fell asleep as the oceans currents began to retreat from the sands. Thinking back he hadn't slept in years, his odd position made no difference in the amount of time it took for the tired feeling to wash over his whole body.

While he lay sleeping Nadroj was plagued with a constant flow surreal images. All of them painted in black, grey, and white. It was almost as if a shadow had cast itself over everything shown. Images of a camp of human naturalist followed by like images of a gravestone. Before he could make out the name of the gravestone he was snapped awake by the cold ocean water. There was no way to tell just how much time had past but time was of little importance to this demon. He rose to his feet and continued to walk up the beach.

Nadroj dragged his feet through the white sand kicking up bits up broken see shells that had been washed ashore. He had seen many things over the centuries. He had seen the flesh of humans, demons, elves and lycanthropes ripped from their bodies and devoured by his animals. He had seen vampires wither away to nothing after he ripped their very hearts from their bodies. Despite all of this it was the images he saw, while dreaming, that disturbed him. He gave his all in an attempt to get the images out of his head, or atleast push them to the remote regents of his mind. He was successful, but only after finding something else to focus on. That angel, Hikaru, and that elf. Both were creatures he despised. Though he had never battled an angel before, he was all to familiar with elves.
In the past, any battle with an elf held a slim victory. In the past any elf he had faced nearly killed him. In fact, had it not been for his superior intellect as a hunter, his mission to restore nature would have ended nearly a hundred years ago. What makes them such a threat to me?!
He stopped in his tracks. After all of these years he had had an idea. Dangerous, yes, but if he could pull it off he would gain that much more insight on elves and angels alike. He decided to go to light realm. Once there he could pose as some type of animal in order to spy on the natives. There was only one question that remained. He had never gone there before. He had no idea where any of the portals to light realm were.

Nikki has soon moved on, deciding that the man had either not heard her, or ignored her. But then, that was the case a lot of the time, wasn't it? To ignore what you didn't really know. The girl continued her soft humming as she made her was up the beach, looking for the next port. There had to be one around here somewhere. Maybe there she would find a job...

Or not. The next port came and went, and no one there wanted her employment either. She gave a heavy sigh, and continued, but there were no other trading towns that she knew of that far up. Really, there was no reason to continue, but she did so anyway. After about an hour or so, she began to notice footprints in the sand, and once a place where it looked like someone had fallen. "Interesting," Nikki muttered, deciding that this was worth looking into, as it could take her mind off her family. With a small smile, she began to jog again, hoping that she could catch up with whoever was ahead of her.

Nadroj reached the very edge of the coastline and approached the edge of the forest. Before stepping foot across the border he heard the sounds of footsteps tracking through the wet sand. When he turned to face the sound he could make out a figure off in the distance. A brown haired woman. It appeared that her approach was not just due to happenstance sake, she had been following the footprints he left in the sand. He almost began to charge at the young woman, but he couldn't afford to spend his time unwisely. If he was going to get into light realm he would need to go back into the forest, find the angel elf duo and hitch a ride. These are dangerous times for any human...what is she thinking following the foot prints of someone she doesn't know?
He turned and ran into the forest. As soon as his first foot hit the forest bedding he transformed into a tiger beetle and ran as fast as his little legs would allow.

Nikki followed the prints to the edge of the forest, but she knew even before she got there that she wasn't going to find anything. "Well... Hell!" She muttered, pushing her hair out of her eyes. "Another opportunity wasted." The girl turned away and sighed. "I'm never going to find a job at this rate." Slowly, she began walking along the edge of the forest, every once and a while kicking at a loose rock on the ground. "Oh, well," the girl said finally, stretching her arms up. "If at first you don't succeed, yadda yadda..."

The figure of a man appeared in the gloom of the forest, his shoulder shaking as he snickered in laughter, his fingertips tapping together mischeviously. "Well, little girl..." He stepped out of the gloom. He didn't look all that scary out in the open. Well, mostly because he was so short... Standing at less than 5 feet tall, he was a dreary sight to behold. "If it's a job you wnat, I'll give you a job." He pulled out a few golden coins from out of his pocket and began flicking them about in his hand like juggling balls. "What do you say?"

She blinked and looked down at the man. "Oh! Hello. Though, I really don't think you have any right to be calling me little," she answered in a slightly teasing voice. Nikki watched as he tossed the coins from one hand to another, then glanced back to his face. "What is it that you would want me to do, sir?" Not that it really mattered. As long as it didn't compromise herself or others, she'd most likely be willing to do what he wanted of her.

At the girl's comment, he began shaking madly, as he tried to supress his laughter. The little man's suppressed laughter started growing, and then drew out into a huge bellowing maniacle cackle. "Umm..." He coughed, recovering himself from his little laughing moment. "It's a simple job, really." He pointed to the multiple numbers of rocks that lay about the beach. "You see those rocks?"

She quirked a brow at his laughter, but her lips twitched slightly with amusement. Her gaze ventured to the rocks, then back to her new company. "Well, yes, of course," Nikki answered with a soft laugh of her own. "What about them?"

"Pick them up. All of them." He smiled, snisterly, showing that he was quite serious. This is what happens when you make fun of an employer, after all.

Nikki sighed once more. "I knew it was too easy," she muttered to herself, moving away from the man and continuing her slow trip along the edge of the forest. "It's not a good thing to make fun of someone who is only trying to help their family," she added softly, not caring if the man heard her or not.
