(this is a rant)
why do people always criticise rap? In the real world, people are always making comments about it like "rap sucks, it makes no snese" or "its too loud" or "it sounds the same" etc etc. most of these ******** haven't listened to a REAL rap song (when I say real, Im talking about a rap song by somebody like Nas, not soulja boy or any of those gay southern rappers), so how can they criticise it? People on gaia even hate it. everytime I go in the GD, theres always some anti rap thread. then when you try to defend it, everybody starts flaming you. like rock music is any better. most rock songs talk about the same s**t rap music does. the police, the government, its like the whole world is against rap music.
Im starting to think its because of the money we black people make from it.
so, whats your opinion?

People dislike rap because it has become synonymous with the vulgar, disrespectful, brainless s**t you hear on the radio. But as it turns out, thats only the tip of the iceburg... an ugly tip as it may be. What happens is, people overlook the good parts of rap, such as Del, Hieroglyphics, and Blackstar, because all they hear is the stuff that gets played on the radio. While there is nothing wrong with "gangsta" rap, and some it is really good, it isn't by any stretch of the imagination a universal art. The true sadness is that this non-universal rap is placed forward, as opposed to the actual best foot of some of the more thought out and meaningful underground music.

Rap is the infamous musical genre of music. WWE had DX, X-Men have Magneto, and music has Rap. People love to hate it because it's not like everything other genre... meaning that it's dominated by Blacks. People like to bash what's different and what they cannot understand. And in order to keep their uneducated opinions factual in their eyes, they purposely remain ignorant. If they chose to do research, it would defeat their current views. Nobody likes to be proven wrong in the end, so that's why most will forever remain ignorant.

It's offensive that you would make such a large generalization. I'm sure some bigots hate rap because "Blacks" are the genre's main contributors. But not all "crackers" feel that way.

Alot of people don't like the message it puts across. But then agian every where you look in the media it talks about the same things. People aren't used to change, that's why I think that they dislike rap. It's not what their used to.
