Hey all of you, this meeting is being held to discuss the direction
in which the 1919 community is heading. We will be discussing
problems that 1919 is having, and solutions to these problems.
Solutions that everyone can see fit to living up to.

We'll need everyone's help and support to keep our hangout
from leading into its downfall.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 24, 2007 4:32 pm

Problems:

1. The balls that causes shitloads of lag.
2. Certain people.
3. Outsiders.

Solutions

A plan has already been proposed to us by Raine.
I'll copy/paste it once she has it typed out. e.e
Suggest your solutions to problems too.

About the balls: I suggest we all move to a new location. It's a bit extreme, but it'll solve all three problems.

My really long speech (edited version)

As we all know, 1919 is not what it used to be. Months have passed since our dear friends, the Zurg have left Gaia.

This, however, is not the reason for 1919's slow decline. In fact, most of the reason 1919 is changing is because it is being attacked from the inside.

We, the faithful regs, have stood by 1919 in every moment of need, right? Well, in our defending of our home, we may have made a fatal error.

By driving those who we consider to be unworthy out, we have become much like Gaia as a whole itself. In other terms, we are repeating history in 1919.

Think about it for a moment. When we defend 1919, we see it as good, right? We may be causing more damage than good.

We are the faithful 1919 "oldbies", been here since the plot or damn well close to it. We may complain about the state of 1919 now as well.

And then there are is the second generation of regulars. They came in from every place imaginable, other towns, or just came based on word of mouth.

Many of them have become regs at 1919, not oldbies, but faithful to 1919 itself and willing to defend.

And then, the third category is just the plain noobs. We defend 1919 against them, or in rare cases, oldbies and regs become their mentors, so they can one day become good members of Gaia.

I have been thinking about this very, very much, and I have come up with this conclusion.

1919 is now becoming a mini-model of Gaia. Based on the date that you came to 1919 alone determines the respect you get.

There is no excuse for this. We used to welcome all, and now, after being hurt many times by the same people we cared for, I fear we have become reclusive, and closed to others.

Many complain about this "elitism" that we hold, without knowing the real story. However, this is partly our fault.

We never told them, did we? About all the weeks we came to 1919, unsure how much time we had before we had to retreat to our "promised land".

This attitude and lack of communication developed 1919's infamous reputation for not being seen as very nice.

I propose that we all stop being so angry towards the new ones. With help and care alone, they will leave or stay of their own accord. It's a test of character, so to speak.

With good communication, the new ones can become like us, faithful to 1919. And with perhaps a little more communication, they could almost become one of us (knowing of the plot, etc).

So, what do you guys think?

Okay, understand that we already have a few backup spots
just incase something like a superspam bomb happens.
I don't like the idea of moving to a new location, nor will
most of the other regs. It feels like we're giving up all because
of one person, and that we were ran out of our own home.
It's not a nice feeling to have, so I'm hoping there will be alternative
solutions that are brought up by the end of this meeting.
If not, then I'm afraid we will have to resort to that..

About The balls.Goph I think Is what Is causing most of the problem. It's making people rethink 1919.

The Noobs and 00ers coming to 1919 And starting problems is another thing. They go To 1919 and think they own the place.

But the best thing we can do is just.Well I think the best Then I can do Is just ignore them and see If they get bored with it.And try not to start fights i guess.

Raine I love the idea and speech,
but how long do you think the whole nice thing will last?
IRL I'm pretty much nice to everyone. People say I'm wayy too nice && because of that people just take advantage over me.
I'm not trying to argue nor compare 1919 to me, but I'm just worried that people will take advantage over 1919.
Even though I'm thinking of this stuff, I'll go along with the whole thing && I hope everything will turn out fine.

I agree.
People have always taken advantage of me like that.
1919 as a whole is overly agressive.
We need to tone that down, in order for 1919 to stop rolling downhill.
Be nice, but when they take advantage of us...kick 'em in the crotch. mad

@Raine: If I show that I didn't understand your very looong
speech, then please go ahead and point some things out
to help me fully understand.

Hm, I don't mind actually inviting people in.. it's just when
they start dissing 1919 because of rumors or the way we
dress our pixels or anything. I like welcoming people in,
but I don't like when they welcome themselves in to start
drama with us and crap. It's true we have gone to extreme
measures to protect our home before, and that we need new strategies,
but these people who do already hate us because they think
we're stuck up need to get the word of what we really meant
on doing.

1: We judge based on the friendships & relationships you develop in 1919. Sorry about that.

2: Wow, someone else? :O

3: People take advantage of us. We used to be very kind, and now we're like...trigger-happy with the flamethrower.

4: Durr.
