Shadow strolled down the hallways, patrolling the prison cells as he did every evening. He never slept, so this was no troublesome task for him. However, other afflictions plagued him. Loneliness, for one. It ate at him endlessly, sometimes driving him to chat with the captives, or even talk to himself. Occasionally he would conjure illusions to confuse passing Rockets in the corridors, but otherwise life was very dull.
He sighed, leaning against a far wall. Tonight was especially quiet. Each cell was specifically made to hold in the pokemorph inside, determining their type and strength. However, with his ability to become intangible, he could bypass nearly all of them. He considered dropping in on someone, if only to chat a little. Still, most of them were probably sleeping by now.
Finally, he decided it was worth a try if he kept quiet.

Nny sat in her cage, chewing at her hand. Most would question this odd behavior, but anyone who spent enough time around the glaceion pokemorph would know this was simply what she did when she was thinking. Her yellow eye where wide and glazed over, another thing common when she was thinking. She didn't sleep anymore, she was to busy thinking, so dark bags where under her eyes. Her blue hair was messy and er ears were pressed flat to her head. Her tail swished nervously. She snapped out of her trance like state when she bit her hand just hard enough to make it bleed. "********!" she yelped jumping up. She looked around for something to hit besies the wall but founf nothing. They knew that the girl was borderline insanity and had treated her like a assylum patcient. They put her in a padded room. "Dammit!" she hissed angrly. "There is never anything around." she said hitting the wall.

"Oh, I wouldn't say that..." a quiet voice murmured as the haunter-morph slowly phased into the room, tilting his head slightly to avoid her violent attack of the wall. "Jeez...might wanna watch, it there. Never know who might be passing through."
Shadow regarded the Glaceon-morph silently with his crimson gengar eyes. She was obviously in a frienzied state, and he didn't like the looks of her hand. "I don't think that's a good idea," he suggested, gesturing toward her injury. "It could get infected. Besides, the Boss wants you healthy. In top shape for the morning's training routine."
Inclinging his head in a curious manner, he spoke in a surprisingly gentle voice. "Why are you still awake?"

Nny looked suprised for a second before going back to her look of anger. "Its fine." she said wiping the blood on her shirt. "Its not like its the first time I've done this. As for why I'm not asleep, I don't want to. If I'm awake, I can think. If I can think, I can figure out things no one else can. If I can do that, well than I might be able to escape no?" she said smiling creepily and tilting her head to the side. "But now the questions go to you. Who are you and why arn't you asleep?"

The haunter-morph smirked. "That's quite an interesting plan. But I'm afriaid it'll never work. You'll only end up getting hurt." It was hard to read his expression, but there was something like admiration for her determination in his eyes.
He shook his head at the sight of her bloody skirt. "If they catch you doing that, they'll make you so you can't move at all. They'll shackle your feet to the floor and your hands to the wall. Then, even if you thought up a brilliant plan, you'd never be able to carry it out." His eyes flashed upward to meet her own bright yellow ones. "I've seen it happen."
"As for the matter of sleeping, well...if you're too tired, you won't be able to think, now will you? And if you aren't fit to fight in tomorrow's training battle, you'll be crushed. And losers don't get lunch." He spoke with a matter-of-fact tone, as someone who had been around the Rocket Base for a long, long time.
Suddenly he glared at her as she dared to question him. "I'm a hall moniter," he told her grimly. "The lowest life form to exist here in the base, they told me. Not even fit to be a Rocket Grunt. And so I carry out my duty obediently. But it gets lonely." He was looking away, his gaze distant, his voice almost hinting at the sorrow behind it. "So I thought I'd drop by to chat."

Nnys gaze softened a bit. She sighed and sat down. "If you're willing to talk to the crazy girl, than feel free to stay." she said closing her eyes. "I don't get to talk to many peoplee either." she said sighing.

Shadow watched her out of the corner of his eye, surprised by her change of heart. Perhaps she was lonely in her cell too. Still, as she closed her eyes he got the impression he was disturbing her.
"You know," he whispered quietly, drifting over to where she sat, "If you need help getting to sleep, I can try."

"I'll sleep when I feel like it." she saidopening her eyes. "I just don't feel like it. Plus, I invited you to talk. It would be rude to fall asleep while talking to you." she sai smiling slightly.

A slight smile played at the corner of his mouth at her considerate comment. "Why should you care about being rude to me? Aren't I one of your captors? Well, not directly, of course...but still."
"There isn't much to talk about, is there? And you need your rest. I wouldn't want to pry into your personal life anyway. If you're having trouble sleeping, I told you I can help."
Shadow looked at her seriously. "Many experiments here have trouble getting to sleep at night. Their pain and fear keep them awake. Those that do get to sleep often suffer from nightmares. So I do what I can to relieve them of their torture."
Lifting a three-clawed hand to his face, he studied them closely. "Hypnosis can work wonders. And Dream Eater chases nightmares away. Though...in order to use the latter, I am forced to be burdened with the nightmare itself, whatever it may be. So I've learned many stories within these halls."
He chuckled weakly. "It's ironic, really. I can help so many others, but I can never fall asleep myself. To do so would be the end of me."

Nny raised an eyebrow. "Why would you do that?" she asked. "After all, I'm only an experament. Plus, you wouldn't want my nightmares."

At this, he snickered, an unsettling, sharp-toothed grin spreading across his face. "You may be an experiment, sweetheart..." Carefully, he pulled back the draping, dark sleeve of his long coat to reveal the wrist beneath. Only he had no wrist. His hand was floating freely independant from his arm, detatched. "...but then, so am I. We're pokemorphs, aren't we? Niether belonging in the human world, nor the pokemon world. So why should't we stick together with the few of us there are?"
"Anyway," he added, getting up from his spot beside her, "I wouldn't mind your nightmares if it helps you get to sleep. Like I said, you need your rest for tomorrow. You'll need it much more than I will. All of us pokemorphs, including the ones on Team Rocket's side will have to get up early tomorrow for training."
"After we warm up, we have a battle in which we're paired off with other morphs of our level. After we fight, the Rockets and the winning captives are allowed to eat lunch while the losing captives go hungry until dinner." He blinked at her, as if seeing her for the first time. "How long have you been here? I don't remember seeing you around before."

Nny sighed and looked up at the celieing. "I think for about a week." she said counting in her head. "Why do you ask?" she asked tilting her head to the side.

He shrugged. "I thought they might have taken you out to the training grounds by now. But often they leave a captive in their cell if they think it's too dangerous to let them out yet. And of course for reasons of mental stability. You must have put up some fight," he added with an amused expression. "What did you do, bite them?"

"Yes, and clawed 'em. Cut my nails after that, they did." she said with abit of anger in her voice. "I spent a long time trying to get those just the right length too." she said looking at her short nails sadly. "I'm not fully crazy yet, I just have really break downs."

Shadow shook his head sympathetically. "Sorry to hear that. But then of course, Agent Lindsay's nails are as sharp and long as razors, so it's not as if this facility is any safer..." He sighed.
"Yes, well after hearing the screams and torturing for a year, anyone would go crazy, I suppose..." His crimson eyes studied his clawed hand floating in mid-air. "Particularly if we're the ones being tortured."
