There's no way someone could start out with such hatred. So what could've possibly caused Itachi to hate so much, and love so litte?

"You are our future..." The startled Itachi gasped in fear as he awoke. He then looked around and sighed, he didn't see anything, but in the past years his eyesight had been failing him. He wasn't able to see as well any longer, and his jutsus, almost all involving the Sharingan, hadn't been quite as strong due to this recent delima, which he hoped would just wear away. of course the more he hoped, the more it worsened. It was useless to try and fix his problems, he knew they weren't fixable. To him, that was his only problem, with the acception of his brother, who he was actually waiting for, every day, waiting for Sasuke's attack. But why wait? Why not run? Does it make sense? Well you'd have to back to the beggining to figure that out.
The 10 year old boy sat in a tree, looking around for any signs of his father. "Itachi! We must train!" Fugaku shouted. Itachi sighed, he knew he couldn't resist, yet, he still had a few days before he turned 11, and maybe then he would start neglecting his father, but not quite yet. He knew his father had good intentions, and would teach him much, so he wanted to get the most out of that, but he also just wanted to get away. He felt smothered, and would've prefered if his brother had gotten a little more attention. "Come on Itachi! Get down here! you are the future of our clan and we need you to learn technique so you can create your own, passing it down to the next generation of Uchiha." Itachi growled and mumbled something inaudible, jumping down. He then followed his father into the village, and onto the clan's grounds. "Father! Father!" Sasuke shouted, running out of the house. "I don't have time for you right now!" Fugaku snarled tempermentaly. Sasuke though and moment and ran out infront of him. "But father! You must see! It is better then anything Itachi could ever do!" "NOTHING WILL EVER BE BETTER THEN YOUR BROTHER!" he shouted. People in the streets coward away slightly. "You must learn that... your time will come, but that time is not now..." Itachi stared down at the ground, ashamed of his abilities, and in desperate need of some alone time. "Now come Itachi..." Sasuke looked as if he was going to cry. "It's not fair," Sasuke said to his mother as he stepped inside. "Your father has good intentions," Mikoto answered, smiling. "And your time will come, and maybe some day you'll be even stronger then your brother..." Sasuke smiled as his mother ruffled his hair. Suddenly he ran outside as he heard shouting. "What do you mean!?!?" his father demanded. "I need some alone time father, try spending some time with your other son," Itachi replied in a rather calm tone. Fugaku wasn't pleased at all, but he knew he had to respect his son's wishes, if only once in a blue moon. "I will not forget this..." he said, "and I will keep pressuring you, so you can be great... you are the future..." "So I keep hearing..." he paused, "Sasuke, now's the chance you've been looking for." Itachi calmly walked away, head down. Tears of fury streamed down his face as he finally ran off. Sasuke bowed and quietly said, "thank you brother..." Sasuke then looked over at his father. But before he could saying anything his father shouted, "NO!" Sasuke then trudged inside, full of sorrow.
"I am tired of this!" Itachi said to himself, "I can't handle this... it's to much... all this pressure of being the best. They know I'm the best, but I don't. There is more I must do... I can not just wait for Fugaku to try and teach me everything... there must be a way I could teach myself. After all, Sasuke needs the training more then I do..." Itachi thought as he looked up at the pure blue sky. A bird flew overhead and he smiled. "If only I could be free as a bird..." he said allowed. "You can be free as a bird, you just must try to break away," a voice said. Itachi looked down from the tree at Shisui's smiling face. "How?" Itachi asked, he didn't quite understand. "I'm not sure, actually... I don't think you can. You will always be a part of this village and clan no matter what happends. Even rogue ninja still affiliate with their villages and clans. Where do you think the majority of their jutsus come from?" Itachi nodded and jumped down. He thought he understood. "What if I were to become a rogue ninja?" Itachi suddenly asked, regreting the question once he asked it. Shisui gave him a stern look and said," Let's hope that never happens, because your village needs you..." "Yeah, I've been hearing that a lot... I'm a, prodigy... and at times I hate it... why couldn't it have been my brother? or someone else? I'm beginning to even question the point of existance..." "there's always a point to existance," he replied, adding, "and your brother was not born to be strong like us. We are what we are..." "but he could be," Itachi thought to himself, "and someday, he will be..." Itachi then ran back to his village. "Where are you going!?!?" Shisui yelled. "To do something I should've done a long time ago!" Itachi shouted back.
June 8th, Itachi sat on the roof and watched as his father trained Sasuke, his brother. "It is my only wish," he remembered saying. But after a while his father got bored, and came up to the roof. "Itachi," he said, "Please, train with me today..." Knowing he had to respect his father wishes, wether he wanted to or not, he did what he was told. It was a long day of training, and by the end of the day all he wanted to do was lay down and go to sleep. "Itachi..." Itachi jumped and turned as he heard his little brother say his name from behind. "Yes?" "Will father ever train me? I have waited so long, and he has told me that it will be my turn soon, but he has not even given me a chance!" "You are only 7... you will have pleanty of time to train, but for now, how would you like it if I trained you? How about some time next week?" Sasuke jumped for joy. "Would you really? I mean, I never expected that... you, training me?" "yes, me training you..." Itachi then went into his room and fell over, going to sleep.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months and months into a year and Itachi still never trained Sasuke. But Fugaku never stopped training Itachi, and Itachi never stopped attemtping to decline and convince his father to teach Sasuke. Yet Sasuke's seldom done session never lasted long, and it always came back to Itachi. He was begginning to hate all the pressure, and all the need for him to gain power. he was sick of it. It was all driving him crazy. He couldn't do it. He couldn't allow his village to rely on him. Angered, he one day slammed his fist into a tree. There was a hole in the huge tree. He watched as his hand bled, and he didn't do anything. "SEE!?!?" he shouted, "I'm HUMAN!!! Just... a... normal...human..." of course no one could hear him. He was so deep into the forest that not even the echo made it to the village. he fell to his knees and pounded on the ground. "I will only be myself! I can not be what it is this village wants of me! I can not! And if I become strong I will be the best, unstopable, undefeatable... no one, not anyone, can stop me... I am not a prodigy, I am not a gift of glory, I am not the Uchiha future, and if I am to teach future generations, then I will teach them to pride in their children, and not hate, not drive them to the limits, and not neglect... that's if I ever do... but right now, the only thing I could ever teach anyone is to HATE!!!" he sat there and beat on the tree, his fists full of blood.

Finally, angry as he was, Itachi pinpointed his foot, colloecting large amount of chakra there, and kicking down the tree. "Such rage," a voice said from what seemed to Itachi like the distance in all the suddenly thick fog. "Show yourself!" Itachi shouted. A man then walked out, and immediatly Itachi knew who it was. "What do you want with me Orochimaru?" Itachi demanded. He was so angry he wasn't up for any nigotiating. "Just to give you some advice..." "I don't want it..." "Well here it is anyway. your family is smothering you. Your clan is smothering you. You are the strongest and you could be so much more... all you have to do is, kill them, kill them all, then they'll all be out of your way... you'll be free as, a bird I should say. A bird in the evening sky." "I DON'T BELEIVE YOU!" Itachi shouted, adding, "And now I'm going to kill you!" As he went to hit Orochimaru he suddenly dissapeared. "To bad..." echoed a voice in the fog. "I should've known better," Itachi thought, then walking back for the village. Though he knew he could never beleive Orochimaru, he still never stopped concidering how simple it sounded. To kill everyone would mean no more training, no more being sheltered, no more being the "prodigy" of the village and clan. He wouldn't have to be strong for anyone but himself. But what about Sasuke? he knew he couldn't just kill him that easily, no matter how weak the boy was. He needed a plan, something good, something simple, something easy. Then it came to him.

Itachi watched the hawk circle over him as he reported to the hokage to receive his mission. The mission depreifing was fast, but he understood fully well what he had to do. "You are the leader of the anbu, and I expect you to be able to complete this mission quickly and without any troubles, after all, you are also our strongest ally," the fourth hokage said, sending the anbu leader out. "Prodigy, strongest ally, it's all a bunch of bull crap," Itachi thought as he walked out. This mission had to be finished, he knew that, but he also wanted to give himself a few days to, "prepare..." after all. It was going to take a long time, and he didn't want to die out in the field before he was able to finish his REAL mission. He then decided to begin preparing, starting with gathering some "things" along the river.
"Itachi!" Shisui shouted, watching as Itachi approached the river bank. "Shisui, do you think you could help me? There's some things I need to get," Itachi said, removing his anbu mask and giving a fake smile. "Sure Itachi, what do you need?" "I need... the Mangekyo Sharingan" he answered. As he said that Shisui backed up. "Itachi, what do you mean?" Shisui was actually nervous about this entire thing. He was, for the first time, afraid of what Itachi might do. "There is only one way to obtain it," Itachi said, adding, "and that is through you. Inorder to obtain the mangekyo Sharingan one must kill their closest friend." Shisui backed up, accidentaly stepping into the river. "Don't worry... I won't go to prision, or be executed, as far as everyone knows... you commited suicide." Shisui took another step back and Itachi came toward him, both now in the water. "How did you become this, this monster!???" Shisui demanded in an afraid tone. "I guess you can say that once so much pressure is put on something, it just snaps." "This's about you being a legacy, your training, the sudden amount of handed power, your entire village knowing you're so strong that they fear you, and the fact that your brother was never trained, isn't it?" "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY BROTHER!" Itachi snapped loudly. Shisui could tell he was lying. "Why would you do this?" he asked once again. "Because I have to," Itachi replied, collecting the chakra in his palms and shoving Shisui into the water.Shisui gasped for air as he struggled under the water. "I...Ta...Chi..." he could be heard saying just before he fell limp. Itachi then staged the scene, making it appear to be suicide as he walked to Shisui's house. He welcomed himself in, then pulling out a peice of paper and utalizing his sharingan to forge the suicide note. "It'll look like suicide," he said again, sneaking out unnoticed.

Itachi walked through the village, his clan cowering away from him. He knew exactly why. He knew they had their suspisions. He knew that somehow they felt he had been the one to kill Shisui. Sure. They had no proof. But he knew everyone was afraid, and that it was time for his final plan to go through. He had to make his final move. It was time... to let death reign.

Itachi killed one final memeber of the clan before coming to his father. "Why?" he asked as if he were a young child pleeding for his life. "you ruined my life... and now I plan to end yours... so much stress on one person can cause them to break. I told you what I wanted, and you didn't listen. So now it's time that you have to listen to me." "You have an amazing gift..." His father said, still glaring. "And now I use it to kill you..." Itachi's father screamed in agony as Itachi allowed his life to end. "It was the clan's time father..." Itachi said, beginning to walk away. Suddenly he heard a noise. He looked over to see his brother entering the village. He knew that now was the time to explain. "It was all for you..." he thought silently as his brother came forward.

Itachi sat and stared out at the surrounding woods. "I knew you'd be coming soon..." Itachi didn't even turn his head. He knew who now stood beside him. "Why'd you do it!?" the man demanded. "Sasuke... if only you could understand. You always wanted attention. You always wanted affection, and I always wanted to be left alone. Of all the people you should know best why I did it." Sasuke heaved in anger. He couldn't even handle looking at his brother. "Why do you not run?" Sasuke asked, "you know I am stronger then you." "You are stronger because I made you that way. There is no questions there. Had I not done what I did and just run Fugaku still would've neglected you. You wouldn't have had a chance at life. I never had intended to return... had it not been for the Akatsuke... everyone probably would think I'm dead right now." "Father would've trained me... I would've proved you wrong. He would've seen." "Seen what? That he messed up with his first born?" Itachi turned to look at Sasuke, everything was blurry, "That would've been even more reason for him to ignore you. It was the only way." "I WON'T BELEIVE IT!" Sasuke shouted. Itachi stood up and shook his head. "You truly are pathetic..." Itachi smirked and looked back up at Sasuke, "Listen Sasuke, my brother..." "I'm no brother of yours..." "So be it... listen Sasuke... it was all for you, and though you may not want to beleive it... one day you will see. Your anger... your hatred, it all made you stronger. It's what made me stronger. We are more alike then you think. But beleive what you want, because none of it is true..." Sasuke dropped the kunai he'd been holding and stepped back. He felt as if he was actually understanding what Itachi was saying. "You...you... you sound like Oorochimaru..." "Oorochimaru? He's a fool... you can never beleive a thing he says." "So why should I beleive you?"Sasuke demanded. "You've already begun to beleive me. If you hadn't... you wouldn't have dropped that kunai," Itachi remarked. Sasuke took a step back. "Sasuke... I'm not going to kill you. If I'd wanted to... I would've done it earlier, when you were still helpless and on your own." "I still don't understand," Sasuke repklied, "what're you trying to say?" "I'm trying to say..." Itachi answered, "That's it's your turn... kill me before someone else gets to it." Sasuke pulled out another kunai and prepared it. As tears dripped down his cheecks he threw it. It flew past Itachi's head and into a tree. "that's what I thought," Itachi replied, smirking as he turned to leave. It was over, and Sasuke couldn't do it. Instead of killing Itachi, he was in a heap, crying on the floor.
((The end!! Or is it... dun dun dun...))
