The dull gray clouds bumped into each other as the marched on over the town. Anya watched them as they went and wished the line would end. Maybe then she could capture sun-lashes instead of puff-bomb tears. But as the morning went on, her hope began to die down.

Hiding from the rain, Anya pulled her raincoat hood over her messy hair. If she couldn't wait for the light to come and play then she would make due with the rain.

Everywhere around her, the tears collected into little pools of water. They lined the path from her doorway, slept near the garden and even ran down the road into the drain. Her mama-bat, Lizzy, had dressed her to keep from getting wet, but with all this water she wasn't sure if she could keep dry.

As she approached the first puddle on the walkway, a gleam from deep within caught her eye.

Erellyn was not often allowed out by herself, for Autumn's fear of losing the little moonchild caused her to cling to her...if not physically, then at least mentally. For although her Aut-mum would cuddle her if she placed herself in the woman's lap, otherwise she seemed almost afraid to touch her..as though she might turn to dust under too heavy a hand.

Adults were so strange.

Now, a bit of boldness having crept into her mind while she slept, the moth-winged girl had gone out-of-doors, and made her way to the town. The path was familiar enough, although quite a walk for such short legs..and after all, she had remembered her rain gear (even those silly wing-coverings, which she despised). Aut-mum couldn't be too upset, now, could she? Of course not. Ere knew exactly where she was. She just..wanted a bit of a walk, that's all. Maybe to see that boy she'd met at the zoo, although she didn't know where he and his mum lived.

Humming as she marched down the street, Ere spread her fingers wide, and then stretched her arms to the heavens and did a funny little hopping spin before continuing. "Rain~" she sang, "Rain in my braaaain~"

Anya bent closer to the puddle. Something inside was definitely gleaming, she decided, but could she reach it? The puddle could be 2 feet or 12 hundred feet deep. Aaaaand, she didn't know how to swim. She would be floating in puff bomb tears forever!

Or Or Or, the puddle could really be a door to another world, one where people wore pillows for hats and ate mud pies for breakfast. Mudpies wouldn't be so bad, she figured.

As she debated, squishy footsteps and a song caught her attention. Standing up again, she called out to the footsteps,

"Heeeeeyo?"

Mackerel couldn't stand it in the house. Elf was painting, and the fumes were really getting to the young Herald. Too bad it was raining that day... because the woman closed the windows to keep the moisture out, which made the smell so much worse.

In lieu of that, Kerel was walking towards town, sticking to the sidewalk. As usual int he rain, she was in an oversized rain-coat that covered her whole body and head. All that peaked out from her hood were two bright blue eyes. Her wings, which never liked confinement, poked from the back of the coat. Splatters of green goo dripped from her wings in the wetness, but evaporated before they hit the ground.

Needless to say, Mackerel did not like being wet.

It was when she heard a voice when she looked up from watching her feet on the concrete ground. She saw another Herald, and for a moment, Mackerel stared in surprise. Her mouth dropped, but after awhile she couldn't help but ask: "Are you.... dead?"

Anya hopped closer to the town's sidewalk. She wasn't sure if the singing thing had heard her or if there was a SPOOKY ghost amongst the area. As she glanced down the sidewalk, a girl dressed much like herself, seemed to take notice to her.

Hmm Dead? Spooky ghosts are dead. She was sure she wasn't one of those... And didn't dead people have worms all over them too? Well she did her best to stay away from those creepy slimeys.

"Noope! I have no worms. I did eat one once though! But it tasted kind of like dirt."

She bounced closer to the girl. Eyeing her up and down, she noticed that she had wings too! Only different, and dripping...?

"Do your wings taste like pea soup?"

They were about the same color, no doubt. Anya creeped closer, and too the chance to sniff the girls wings.

((Anya is such a creeper! XDD ))

Mackerel didn't move as the dead-looking girl approached. She watched with bright eyes. "Why would you eat a worm? They don't even look appetizing..... I cut one in half, once.... okay, so I've cut many in half. I do not like worms."

Finally, the other got a little too close for comfort. Mackerel took a step back, but then the other girl was behind her - looking at her wings - and she ended up jumping forward.

With her eyes flashing angrily, Mackrel turned on the girl before she got too close to... wtf!? Was she SNIFFING her? "Why don't you taste and find out?" the young Herald growled under her breath. Of course, she knew exactly what happened whenever the stuff from her wings was ingested. It killed that bird....

"And just who do you think you are? You cannot go around and think you can do anything to someone else's wings. Don't you know that it is rude to do so?" Her voice was demanding and cracking ever so often in her anger.

The green goo's stench burnt Anya's nose as she took a whiff. Well, it definitely wasn't pea soup, even though the girl mumbled for her to go ahead and try it.

Sensing the tone in the girl's voice, Anya looked up at her. She wasn't quite used to someone being angry with her so quickly. Usually it took some provoking before she could get her Mama-bat to chase her around.

"I'm sorry.." Anya replied tilting her head slightly as she tried to chose the next few words carefully,

"You could fluff mine up if you want or..."

She dug into her raincoat's pocket and pulled out her hand slowly; as if she was considering something. She offered her hand forward, keeping her fingers closed around the gift.

"Here!"

She smiled with enthusiasm and nodded in hopes the girl would receive her gift.

It took Erellyn a moment to realize that she was being addressed, and by the time she had opened her mouth to call back a greeting, the little girl-herald before her had already started talking to somebody else. They seemed to be talking about their wings, and she looked momentarily back at her own set, which fluttered lightly in their waterproof sleeves. Neither of them seemed very concerned with their wings getting wet, though...so why should she? Trotting over to the pair, she grinned and waved her fingers at them- Hello, hello, hello!- and then reached behind herself to try to wrestle the plastic off of her wings.

Mackerel scowled further. "I don't want to ruffle your wings.... I may break them." Granted, if this was anyone else but a Herald, the girl probably would have done so... and roughly to prove a point.

But then, the other girl took something out of her pocket. The green-winged child eyed it skeptically before reaching out a tentative hand to receive the gift. Again, she wouldn't have been this kind to someone other than her own 'kind'. "Um, thanks?"

Mackerel caught a movement from the corner of her eye. Her gloved hand was still over the gift and the other girl's hand as she turned her head and eyed the newest arrival. "I don't mean to tell you what to do, there... but I think those plastic covers are over your wings for a reason." Strange, another Herald! What was this, another Gathering? "I'd have some myself, but my wings like to eat through things.... literally."
