Kisoni A low chuckle rose from the long grass of the Savannah, even though its source was hidden in the swaying browns and golds of the high grass, green long since baked away by the sun. Within the plant life, a dark spot swayed near the ground, attempting to blend itself with the dark loam even though the shades were a little too far apart. The rest of her body managed, though, much to the cub's happiness, save the emerald of her eyes. They were shielded right now, however, kept to mean little slivers stuck on a bird not too far downhill from her. Slowly, carefully the cub crept along as she'd been taught to do, inching her way down to a better position to leap upon her prey.
The dull, gray and white thing was perched on the back of an equally gray rock. Indeed, if she hadn't seen it land earlier she may have never known it was there. Lucky day, she sing-songed mentally a wicked smile drawing its way along her maw. Reaching a good place, the cub stopped and shifted her weight to her back legs. The bird ruffled its feathers, head bobbing this way and that. Bob towards her, bob away, towards, away.. towards.. awa--
With a tiny snarl, the cub sprang, claws extended and teeth bared for her would-be dinner... had the rock not decided to move.
Sarafina's eyes widened mid-pounce, but the air wasn't a good place to turn around and her claws scratched against the leathery hide of the "white" rhino she hadn't even realized was there. The beast turned its head, giving a surprised ((but not very worried))snort as its look-out took to her wings and began to beat about Sarafina's head.
"OW! OW! YOU STUPID BIRD!" Sarafina snarled at it, trying to cover her head from the enraged avian's pecks even as the shrieks caused her fur to rise and ears to retreat against her skull. Jumping away as the Rhino began to move, Sarafina took to her paws as fast as she could to get away.
A few hills and several cuts on her head and cheek later, the cub was 'safe' under a tree as she watched her "dinner" fly back to its protector. "Stupid bird," She snorted again, and licked her paw to wash the cut on her cheek. "I'LL GET YOU AND YOUR EGGS TOO!"

Tufah had just discovered one of the joys in life - the snap of bones and ripping away fur to get to the meat. Usually someone bigger clawed her meat apart for her. Though these bones were tiny and there wasn't really much meat on the rat like little thing she'd caught...still! It was her first catch and she was immensely proud. That cheetah had given her some great pointers!
She was contently chewing out the last of the morsel, musing on what to plan for her next, bigger hunt. Maybe a hare. The rock she was laying on was deliciously warmed and her fur was hot to the touch with all the sun bathing. All in all, she was feeling dozy and peaceful, very happy with how things were...
"OW! OW! YOU STUPID BIRD!"
...what the? Tufah sluggishly got to her paws, frowning. Not only had the snarl broken the nice near silence - total silence rarely fell on the life filled savannah - but a nearby rhino had started to move. And rhinos were sometimes bad tempered beasts. Picking up the rat-thing by the tail, she lept down off her rocky couch. Time to find a nicer spot.
"I'LL GET YOU AND YOUR EGGS TOO!" Wait. That'd been her sister! Tufah got a better grip on the tail, and so the scraps, and started to bound towards the noise, towards a tree. Surely Sara hadn't pissed off a rhino? And how?

Still muttering under her breath, Sarafina turned from the tree finally to stalk down the hill away from the Rhino and offending bird. While she had her mark on that one, she was in no way suicidal and so staying away from that Rhino was essential at the moment. Just as she turned, something cherry red and rushing slammed into her, causing her to stumble back a little and hiss as her eyes squeezed shut.
"TUFAH!" She shouted, annoyed as the scent registered to her brain. Her nose wrinkled and she let an eye peek open at her sister. There was something dead and dripping hanging from her mouth. Immediately interested, Sarafina shook off the 'trampled' feeling and stood back up. "What's that?"
The elder sister leaned in to examine the new object, sniffing at it curiously. She licked her lips a little, mouth watering, "and where did you get it?"

"Sa" - she dropped the rat so she could shout back better - RA!"
That'd completely been her sisters fault! Her brown coat was far too good at masking her and she should have heard Tufah coming. It wasn't Tufah's fault, no way. God it was embrassing tumbling around like stupid little cubs and making such silly mistakes. Sara should have been listening, she should have been watching.
"How'd you annoy the rhino?"
However her annoyance at this cut out as her catch was noted. Tufah smiled and nudged it towards Sarafina, proud as anything. Who knew that the stupid skinny cheetah would be such a good teacher? She'd learnt to blend in pretty well and he'd given her enough pointers to last her until they moved onto bigger game. And obsessive practice had paid off at last...sweet sweet victory!
"I caught it, it's tasty. I'm going to catch some more. Or a hare maybe."

"I was after his a** of a bird," She explained, giving a little snort. "Stupid, molting little piece of...." The girl trailed off into various grumbles as she considered the encounter she'd just had. Somehow she would lure that secretary bird away from the rhino... somehow, someday... The stupid little avian wouldn't even see it coming!
Made content by that thought, the female smirked and eyed her sisters prize. "Those do look tasty.... why don't you show me where you got it?"

"Could be fun. Unless you want to hunt the rhino bird...?"
Tufah shrugged, nochelant. Whatever. She didn't mind what they did so long as it wasn't stupid. Something the cheetah hadn't mentioned was how to hunt in groups. So that could be interesting to try...pitting their intelligence against the rhino and bird duo.
"Just need to trick him into spliting up with his big buddy."

Sarafina shook her head, "That bird is MINE," She spat in a rather nasty way. The tone wasn't meant for her sister, though, but for the bird itself. "That damn thing won't know what it hit it..." Sara snorted once more in its direction, then bumped her forehead against her sisters. "Come on.. mom said we needed to start working together on hunting anyway. Lets start with those mice; I'm hungry."

"Alright, dear, you have your vendetta with it." WIth a brief purr, Tufah rubbed her forehead back against her sisters. She then straighted up and cast a glare the bird's way. She knew her sister. That bird' be sorry one day.
"Come then. We'll hunt the rats." They were too big for mice, surely...worthy foes at any rate. She started to head in the direction of their nesting area, expecting Sara to follow or walk beside her.

Sara nodded in agreement, heading off after Tufah rather obediently for once. She didn't mind her sister, in fact she liked to spend time with her, it just wasn't that they ended up on the same wavelength very often. Padding along beside her, Sara kept her eyes and nose alert for these rats Tufah spoke of. "how bigs the nest?"

"Well, there's lots of little ones. Collectively a lot of rat-things." Tufah led her sister to the nest she'd decimated. Literally. Ten rats had been living in it and she'd killed but one. Something she hoped to remedy with Sara. They'd be more successful as a team.
"See, it's got two ways in and out of it? I had to dig at one end then chase as they ran out the escape. So one of us can dig, the other ambush." She lowered her nose to sniff at the scrabbled earth. "When we ind another nest anyways"

Sara nodded; it would be easier with two than it would have been for one, that's for certain. There was another, much more ugly way of doing this with two lionesses, and Sara's maw contorted into a wicked grin for a moment as she considered it. Tufah likely wouldn't go for that method, though, and it would take a long time... besides that,t heir paws weren't made for digging, and who knew how far down those nests went?
She shook the idea from her head before she'd suggested it. Instead, Sara bent her head down by her sisters to take in the scent there, marking it in her brain for what they were hunting. "There's probably another one or two around here somewhere.. Mother always said these things like to stay together... but they may have been warned already."
Lifting her head, she cast her nose about rather than her eyes, searching for some trail that may have been left. The abundance of spilt blood and the scattering trails of rats as they'd run confused things, however. It would take a lot of something Sara didn't have much of: patience.
She nodded her head to her sister, jerking it in the direction they needed to go. With that, she ran off and assumed that Tufah would be coming in behind her. The day would be long and hard, but fun, as the two learned to work better together, as sisters and as lionesses.
