Now watch, as I break virgin territory and all others merely follow in my wake! twisted For I shall come up with the Format! Mwahahahahaha!

First up, title. Name, and source material.

First post, Contents of thread, and Rules.

Contents:

1st post. You're right here.

2nd post. Kurtis Profile.

3rd post. Goals and Interests.

Rules:

Stick to the Forum Rules peoples. Yar, goes without saying normally, but I like to remind people. Because when I don't, someone always seems to break them.

Shop Owners may post here. Go ahead. I don't mind. What am I, a mere customer, going to do before the wrath and power of the Owners?! wink

Go ahead and copy the format. It seems to happen in every Quest Forum for a breedables shop I've seen.

About Kurtis, Defender of Earth!

A place for some pictures, information on the character as he existed in the source material.

Only image a google search could find for him.

Also a better picture of them there... wish there was more out on the web. Wikipedia also includes his Prinny Form.

Kurtis, Defender of Earth is not an actual "Defender", at least, according to the Real Defender of Earth, Captain Gordon, and his side kick Jennifer. However, he has been known to do a lot of good, often taking up missions before Captain Gordon (Possibly ones he was too busy to do, or so I gather between the lines, though it is never really said plainly).

Kurtis, it is revealed, is a brilliant scientist, and had been a peaceful man until his wife and son were both killed in an experiment gone wrong, one which destroyed the majority of his body. He himself built new Cybernetic parts to replace those that were lost, and he came to hate Captain Gordon, who did not save his family. (It's said by Kurtis that Captain Gordon did not save his family. Though it is never really established that he was THERE to save them. One guesses however that he was doing a missing in the area, or perhaps was related to the accident somehow though by the depth of his specific anger at Captain Gordon.)

When Captain Gordon was sent to the Netherworld to slay the Overlord, Kurtis joined with the Earth Defense Force under General Carter. He became the go to man in his forces, sent out to deal repeatedly with the troublesome Captain Gordon, and his demonic master Laharl.

During one of these Confrontations, he kidnaps Jennifer, Captain Gordon's side kick, and lures them to the space battle cruiser Gargantua.

It is there, he fights his final battle as a human/cyborg, killed by Captain Gordon. While he repented for his misdeeds before his death, it wasn't enough to save his soul.

Kurtis reappears later, stuck within the body of a Prinny (The zombie Penguin things that bad humans become until they work off their sins). During a crucial battle he returns to lend his support to his rival Gordon, and Laharl's allies. It is then he takes the title truly, Defender of Earth. Together Kurtis helps the group assault Celestia itself, until finally they face Seraph Lamington himself....

Kurtis is known to the group for his scientific genius, his determination in battle, as well as his sardonic wit. He doesn't get along with others very well, even after he turns "Good". And while he no longer hates Gordon, and will fight effectively at his side, it seems he would rather do things by himself if given the choice.

Goals and Points of Interest:

A little place to blurb on what you want to do with the character, what you are looking forward to.

Well, for one, I've always been interested in the "Rival" characters. I usually find them more interesting than the actual heroes of a game or anime. I can look back to Final Fantasy 4 as being one of the first games I really identified that with. Cecil, the Paladin, Mister Golden Boy, was very, very boring to me. I cared not for him. But his rival, Kain, the one easily twisted to evil, the one willing to give up his soul for what he really wanted. The one who wished to do good, but found he could not. He STILL is one of my favorite characters in video games. Whereas for Anime, it was Krillin from Dragon Ball I originally Identified with. Always behind the star, working hard, but never quite up to the same level. Eventually caving and accepting his 'sidekick' role.

So when I finally crossed into Disgaea, well, most of the characters were interesting, but I didn't LOVE them. Then there was Flonne, I just don't like that character type. Kurtis again was by far the most interesting character to me. Not only was he powerful, flashy, and had good fashion sense, what with Rocket Boots and a lab coat, but I liked his slightly cliched story. I felt sorry for him when he died, and pride for him when he came back triumphant later.

Well... anyway, for one. I like the design of the character. Simple, but striking. Very elegant. I can imagine him being quite the good lookin' baby through adult. Never underestimate the power of Art Greed. wink

But more, it's the RP that woudl draw me to him. I've not played a Mad Scientist type for quite a long time. And I love that concept. I can already imagine a lot of mishaps with the kid and his 'experiments'. Always the chance for quite odd playdates. And i could see (With his in game fascination with stuff like Nuclear Fission) some very, very odd playdates. I smile just thinking of some kid going back to their parent saying "I got to play with Kurtis's weaponized Plutonium/Hallucinagen/Laser Cannons!" or the like.

It makes me smile, which is always a good thing.

I can see his "Elder" form perhaps being the Prinny. But I really would prefer a human for most of his forms. Just my idea. Though I'm hardly in a position to demand anything from the powers that be. wink

I would like there to be other Disgaea characters if I do get Kurtis... but it's not exactly a dealbreaker here.
