The blue female climbed higher and higher into the air, only to grin at the clouds around her before soaring back down as quickly as possible. She loved the high altitudes, and enjoyed swerving and bending in the cool sky. It was late in the afternoon, and was soon to be dusk, so the breeze was calm and the hear was sustainable.
That was Saphira's favorite time to play in the sky, she couldn't stand it when it was too hot like in the daytime.
After repeating her playful movements for awhile, she decided to look around for a nearby cliff to land on. It was always good to allow her body time to rest, and after the movements she had just made, she would be relieved to feel the ground under her again.
The landscape below her was quiet, and it was the same dullness that she felt daily. It had been awhile since she had spoken to anybody, since she had felt out casted for some reason as a strange being. Ah well, maybe she was being overly emotional but, for the time being she scoped about for some nearby land to settle on.

The sun was setting in the sky and as the warm rays left the rocky outcropp the female slowly stired. She opened her eyes and gave a soft huff, dust moving away from her nose in a soft cloud and slowly settled down on the rocks below her.
The mare shook herself as she slowly stoof, streching her wings to the sky and filling her lungs with the fresh moutain air. A smile curled on her lips as she surveyed the landscape in the fading light. It was been anice nap on the warm stones.
A swooping figure in the distance caught her eye, it seemed to be getting closer to her. Bistling softly the mare braced herself for battle, she puffed her chest and watched as the blue figure seemed to ignore her presance. Blended in against the rocking out cropping it was possable that she wasnt seen, and this wasnt an attack.
A slow hiss escaped her as she watched, she was ready for anything and trusted nothing. Her tail lightly scraped against the rock as she watched the blue figure with a keen eye.

Saphira usually was much more observant, but for some reason her mind seemed preoccupied in finding an area to land. For a few moments she turned her head back and forth, until finally a ledge seemed visible through the various clouds. Lowering herself once again, she started to make a landing, but then stopped herself abruptly to the most shocking sight she had ever seen.
IT LOOKED LIKE HER!
Saphira couldn't even contain her excitement, but a feeling in the air told her that this creature was not as friendly as she was. It told her to be cautious, and to not make any quick or stupid moves.
That was no matter to Saphira, and since she decided to trust her excitement, she lowered herself right on the edge of the cliff, and left a large distance between her and the brown specimen. She was even more beautiful up close, and Saphira was gleaming at the thought of actually seeing someone like herself! This was a day that she had dreamed about, and she smiled brightly as she peered at the other creature.
"Good day, I hope it is alright if I land here." she lowered her head politely, hoping to show the other female that she meant no harm.

Scathe bristled again and backed up slowly. Her ears lowered back against her head as another slow hiss escaped her. The blue one had spotted her after all and had quietly landed on the ledge before her. The mare didnt like feeling trapped and right now she had the mountain rock behind her and the mare was before her on the ledge. She could take to the sky but if the mare was here for an attack she would surely be blocked.
Her mind whirrled as the mare addressed her and then lowered her head, a sign of submission. So it wasnt an attack then? An eyebrow slowly raised as the mare suddied the blue one. Rather like her she was, though different and color, her wings where a fine membrain as well yet sturdy for flying and her back ridge was full of spines. The horns upon her head where even in a simmilar shape.
Even if she was kin of sorts that could put her in even more danger. Her kin where unpredictable and could lash out with out a moments notice. Yet this one seemed submissive...but looks could be deseptive.
Scathe didnt know what to do exactly, so she proceded with caution. "Hello." she said, although her voice was gruff and her body was stiff, ready to skitt away and double back at the sign of any agression. She sized up the female, they would be evenly matched....
"it's fine I suppose... I dont own the rock."

At first Saphira stopped herself from moving, only because the female looked extremely uncomfortable. She didn't mean to impose on her resting grounds, so she was quiet for a moment while staring at the creature. But then, it looked as though she had lightened up, and Saphira only grinned in a kindly fashion, enjoying the comment that the other said.
"Well, one can never be so sure about territory though. I know sometimes I get a bit angry when someone disturbs me, but I am glad that I am not disturbing you in this case." Well, she hoped she wasn't disturbing her!
Now that she was this close the the brown female, Saphira was taking a moment to observe the little details she had on her. It was so impressive, and her spikes reminded her of the ones on her own body. Her wings looked just like Gwees, but her tail was all spikey like her own. This only made Saphira excited, since she wondered if there were anymore out there in this land.
"I can't even tell you how exciting this is for me, I thought I was the only one who looked like this in this land." For months, Saphira had been on her own by herself, but now something new had appeared! How much better could this have gotten? It was strange to have her acting so playfully, but she figured it was important to enjoy the moment while it lasted.

Scathe watched the blue one quietly, watching her movements. It seemed as if she was young and lighthearted with hardly any means for an attack. Yet Scathe would not let her guard down entirely. She continued to watch and the glee that radiated from the blue one did seem Genuine.
"That Is true, but I was only resting here. Though It is a nice place. " Perhaps she would claim this part of the mountain as part of her territory, this little alcove was a great napping sight in the sun.
In truth this was the first time Scathe had seen another like her, though unlike Saphira whom had been looking for them. Scathe had been alone and liked it that way, the stories she had heard of what those like her where like had in part fashioned her belives and her solitude her demenor.
"You're the first for me as well..." she added at last, the small talk was not her forte but she was indeed curious.

Saphira let her eyes roll around the area, and she let them drift on the view behind the ledge. "This is a nice spot.." she almost let the words slide off her tongue, before bringing her attention back to the female. "Did you randomly stumble upon here while flying? I find that that is the best way to discover the best areas." Flying was something Saphira loved, afterall.
Sometimes she would get lost just for the sake of discovering new places. It really was impossible to actually get lost in the air, but she liked to pretend that she was off on an adventure or something.
Ah, this mare was a quiet one, and Saphira only remained cool and calm in her presence. "Ah, so you haven't seen any others either? Well, I can tell you from my experiences that there aren't many that look like us out there.." As she was talking, she brought her gaze over the landscape again. "It can get a bit frustrating, so I tend to stay alone for the most part. Other Soquili are such a pain, so I try to avoid them." Since so many had referred to her as a 'monster', even though that was nothing close to what she was.
"May I ask you your name? Mine is Saphira." With a kind smile, she waved her tail for a moment before clamping it back done on the rocky botton.

The brown female blinked softly and lightly tilted her head to the side. She was full of questions wasnt she. Well...perhaps she should take this time to get to know this one who looked like her. Possable kin, and perhaps the legends werent all true.
She smiled softly to herself, a dark smile. Well perhaps they where not true when it came to this female, but she was going to make a mark on the world all on her own. Her tail flicked softly as she huffed, slowly exhailing.
"Yes, I found it when I first came here. Lovely spot, the heat from the sun gets deep into the rock and makes it nice and toasty. " She said with a nod of her head.
Might as well make the most of this meeting, after all this moment could define a latter event. "My name is Scathe. Nice to meet you Saphira. Perhaps we are a dying breed. You hear tails of our kind, deep legends filled with horror. Maybe we where our own demise?" she quarried softly. The Kalona race was the one she most thought herself a part of, and the stories about them where dark indeed. After all, didnt she resemble them? And this mare too? Where they the dreaded Kalona?

Having toasty rocks would be nice, and Saphira only smiled, though felt her expression shift into a serious one as Scathe continued to speak. So she was interested in speaking? Well, that made Saphira feel relieved at least.
"Aye.." she first said, while keeping her eyes glazed. "I really don't know.. sometimes have dreams of this demise, and my dreams are filled with war and death. It is annoying, since there doesn't seem to be horrible things like that in this land." Well, of course there was always death, but there wasn't torture and mindless war. "I try to figure it out, but then find myself more confused in the end. But nevertheless, I believe we are a strong race, and that's all that matters." Remaining serious in her tone, she ended her comment with a wide grin.
"How about you? Do you ever think in depth about such issue, or feel plagued with dreams or thoughts? It is hard to explain or share.. but I guess that' what dreams do to us." It had been awhile since her mind had wandered on such issues, but if anything she was glad the female had brought it up. What if they really were related somehow.. what did that mean?
"Life has its many mysteries, as always." she chuckled quietly.

Scathe didnt exactly know why she wanted to open up to this female, perhaps it was that she shared some of the same views and resembled her in a way. Maybe it was a deep down need to be with others like her and find out if the legends she heard where true. Whatever the reason, Scathe looked at the blue mare with a new found interest.
"Sometimes I have very dark dreams from a time I was too young to remember. Sometimes they are happy, but most often dark. I think... In the time that you and I came to be where some of the last days."
The mare shook her head softly, a clatter of her horns against her back ridges sounded in the air for a breif moment. "Strong we are, that much is true, I dont believe that you and I would have survived along if we where not. Others need familys to support them and have a need to depend on one another because they are too weak to stand alone. We are different than that."

Every being had their own story, and Saphira only listened quietly, reflecting silently to her own emotions. Of course she and Scathe were able to survive for long periods of time alone, but Saphira surely didn't enjoy it. Something from her past reflected a strong bond in memory, and Saphira felt heartbroken when she thought about it for too long. What the memory was felt distant in a sense, but she longed to understand it and find out what her mind was telling her.
"Heh, it sort of feels like a curse, eh? Though, I am not disappointed with how I was made, if anything I cherish it! But, we do not always choose our fates..." She nodded solemnly, before drifting her gaze on Scathe. "Fates tend to creep up on us."
"I think it would be odd to depend on someone else.." Although, the essence of that idea was oddly familiar, and she felt her heart ache at the very thought of it. ".. I guess once you have lived alone, you can put up a big enough wall to resist a lot." Ah well, maybe that worked for Saphira but, it was hard to not lose ones sanity in such a lonely stance.
It was almost too easy for Saphira to get emotional on these issues, and she tried to pull herself together quickly. "I haven't had the pleasure of fighting another one in these lands, though I have witnessed violence. It is almost silly to watch the breeds fight over each other, and for what?" Sadly, she had gotten used to incorporating herself as a non-breed! But, unneeded violence was not in her forte, she only let out her rage when it was necessary.

Scathe watched Saphira as the ghost of past memories washed over her features for only breif moments at a time. She wondered absently what the mare had endured but then that was none of her buisness and she only took solice in the fact that from Saphira's words it seemed simmilar to what had happened to her.
Her tail twiched softly and the long spikes at the tip slowly grated against the hard rock surface of the outcropping ledge. "Well our past may help shape whom we are today but we can move forward and hopefully... maybe someday we can bring others like ourselves forward again. Who knows, maybe they have good reason to hide and because we dont know any better we are out in the world, facing rejection by... them." The last word was uttered with a hiss, dripping with contempt and malce.
As she had grown up, alone in the world. Scathe had been subject to tornment at the hands of other soquili. The filly had let this grow into a deep seeded hatred for them, and while it had only been a handful whom thought her repulsive and picked on her she viewed them all the same.

Saphira could tell by Scathe's expression that she had been through many tough times, and it made Saphira frown, imagining the strong female in front of her in doubt and pain. "Rejection.. such a horrible thing. There is only so much someone can take before they.. lash out or anything worse.." she nodded to herself, and looked at Scathe with a hint of emotion.
It was sort of sad, to keep dwelling on such issues. It was nice to meet another who felt the same pain as her, but she did not find that ranting about it would make them feel better. If anything- she was more sad now to see a comrade of sorts deal with this alone.
"So what else, Scathe? Do you have any fun hobbies or anything?" With a happier grin, she tried to shift the conversation so that they could open up about other things. "There is so much to hunt in this land, it is very thrilling!" Hunting really was the best, especially with an amazing source of life that the land provided.

Scathe let the memories of her past fall flat and blow away on the wind with a heavy sigh. She bristled again for but a moment and then with the sigh let it all go, until such a time that anger and rage would be nessicary to pull from. It did her no good now.
It was clear the blue female wished to change the topic and in all reality she was slightly glad for the change, though it was good to know she had not been the only one to face such a harsh past. However she wondered how many children had been left to that fate...Rage boiled in her again and she closed her eyes forcing herself to let it go. It had been easyer to take when it had just been her....
"Hunting... Indeed, hunting is most enjoyable." She said with a nod of her head, distracting her from her previous thoughts. "Flying in itself is a thrill, but being in the chase, smelling the prey and chasing it down is very rewarding."

"I agree!" Saphira exclaimed, with a kind smile. It had been awhile since she had wandered off on an exciting chase, since for her it was sometimes easier to just strike a prey quickly. Her hunger usually got the best of her, anyways. She was quick in both the hunting part, and the eating part.
"You enjoy flying? Why don't we take a flight now. It might be interesting to fly and talk at the same time." Saphira inched herself to the edge of the cliff again, and undid her wings. She smiled at the female, wondering if she would like the idea. It was sort of risky, asking someone she still didn't know that well to wander off with her. But, again Saphira looked past all of those things and remained happy in the excitement of running into Scathe.
"I still need to learn more about you, you know." She added, with a silly grin. "Its kinda nice to just.. chat." something she longed for while watching others daily, and social kind of activity. Maybe Scathe longed for it as well?
