ive had a best friend for 6 years.. a really good one thats always been there for me... and i just started dating him cuz we realized weve liked each other for a while..
was that a stupid idea? i dont want to loose our friendship in any way but i cant think of any way it would be harmful since we were always hanging out and flirting before anyways...... =/

my best friend in high school and i ended up dating after 2 years. it was the best time ever... but when we broke up i pushed both our friendship and everything out the door. it didn't last long cause when you are best friends nothing keeps ya apart. so go for it enjoy it. 4laugh

the more i think about this the more i realize two things:
dating friends were the best dating experiences i ever had.
after the inevitable breakups, no matter how badly either or both of us wanted to stay friends, it never worked.
until ... i got married.
heart stressed heart-smack.

i always used to scoff at people who had this problem until i was faced with it. my friend and i got along really great and we always flirted with each other. well, i wanted/hoped it would be something more but i didn't want to ruin our friendship. stuff happened (we never got together) and we hardly ever talk anymore. but that's mostly because he was an arrogant jerk (and i knew it all along). i think it all depends on each person because a lot of my friends have dated their friends, broken up, and still been friends.
