Socialize.

Apparently, Karoko needed to do that? Her guardian didn't feel that way. However, she was out with the little Eden anyway, and out of curiousity stopped outside the ice cream shop.

The question was would Karoko eat any of it? So far, she'd gotten her to eat nothing but blueberries and that piece of candy that woman had given her during their visit to the Eden HQ.

"Here, try this one," she demanded, handing the bat girl a cone of chocolate as they sat on the bench outside.

Chick, click. "Come on baby." Ul chimed as she put the van into park and undid her seatbelt. Truthfully, Teagan new better than to try and undo himself, even though he was old enough to, she didn't trust him not to try and get loose during a ride, and on that thought, she had installed double belts to keep the child restrained. She closed the driver's side door and hauled open one of the back doors before climbing in to unbuckle him.

Teagan bounced up and down in his seat as she struggled to let him loose, he was going to make a new friend today! Nothing was better than a new friend, but a new friend and ice cream, that was SUPER good! "Hurry Momma!" He squealed, reaching down to help her, though he was slowing her down more than helping.

"Just, hold on baby. The store isn't going to get up and walk away. There." The buckle popped open, letting the child leap up, nearly hitting his head on the roof. He scrambled down and ducked out of his mother's grip, hopping out the door under her arm. She sighed and backed out, sliding the door shut with a clunk. "Careful baby, you won't get to have any ice cream if you get hit by a car."

He ran in place, making a series of impatient noises as he waited for her, taking off the second she grabbed his hand. "Haaaaiiii!" he called, tugging her toward the building at a dead run.

Karoko took one taste and made a displeased face, sticking her tounge out. So far, she'd tried over seven different flavors and didn't like any of them in the least. To be fair, Noharu had been patient for her standards, but she was seriously heading over the boarder to annoyed land.

Snatching it from her, the guardian tossed it over her shoulder and rolled her eyes in unison with the "thud" it made upon hitting the ground. "If you would just TALK, this would be much easier."

If they made blueberry-flavored ice cream here, it'd be easier, too. As far as talking went, she wasn't positive if Karoko could say anything past "mine" and a few other words.

""Haaaaiiii!"

Hearing this, both the ears of the guardian and Eden perked up. "Finally." Okay, so it hadn't been long, but hopefully this one could keep the little brat occupied for a while. "Alright, Dracula...Dracula?"

The table nearly fell over as the tiny girl hurried under it, her eyes wide. Her hands grasped the top of her dress nervously as they shook.

"Don't tell me you're afraid again..."

Getting no answer was enough of a answer.

Breaking free of his mother, Teagan made a beeline for the table, twitching his ears as he settled to a stop beside it, dropping down into a sitting position. He at least waited until Ul had caught up to start babbling, at which point his fixed his attention on Karoko, his head buzzing with the words that were coming out of his mouth at near warp speed, "Hi I'm Teagan! What's your name, thos are neat wings. Do you like ice cream? I like ice cream, I like leafie ice cream, but momma says she's the only one that makes that so I have to try something new. Do you like trying new things? Why are you hiding, do you hide alot? Is it fun? Can I hide with you?"

Ul blinked curiously, staring at him for a moment before she smiled and looked toward Noharu. Holding out her hand, she cast another wary glance to her child and then spoke, "My name's Ul, and well, that's my little spitfire Teagan. Should I.. Pull him back?"

What the hell was with people here and hand shakes? Noharu had to wonder exactly that everytime a hand was offered to her. Ah, well, at least this person seemed more sensible then the last one she'd met. Hesitantly, she lifted a hand and grasped the new arrival, shaking once before pulling back. "No, it's fine. She's a coward. Needs to get a backbone. This'll be good for her."

Karoko had different feelings on the matter, though. Sure, there had been scary people up to now. Loud ones, sneaky ones, but never one like this. This one came right at her, talked too much, too fast and too loud.

After a rather pathetic whimper it became perfectly clear to the Eden her guardian had met it when she said she wouldn't be "babying" her today. So, in response to Teagan, she merely whined and drew back as far as she could, reaching back and pulling her wings forward to hide her face.

Maybe if she was real quiet, he'd go away...

Teagan pouted, letting his ears fall back against his head. He leaned forward a bit, concentrating on the girl. In a quieter voice this time, maybe she was like Mora, with a my-gravy or somethin, he spoke again, "Are you ok?"

Ul cast another cautious glance toward Teagan before dropping her bag near the table and looking in toward the counter, "It should only take me a moment, he's currently obsessed with mango, hopefully they'll have some kind of sorbet." She reached into her pocket and pulled out what looked like a little remote, setting it on the table she continued, "If he gets distracted and starts running away, could you push this button? He's got a little homing device sewn into the back of his pants, gives him a little shock when it's activated, should get his attention at least."

Even someone like a Noharu wasn't sure how to react to that. She raised an eyebrow, giving a look that suggested she was asking "Are you serious?" without actually doing so out loud.

Jeesh, parents these days. What ever happened to just smacking them on the behind if they didn't listen?

"Sure thing," she answered finally, resting her elbow on the table and the side of her face on her palm.

Meanwhile under the table, Karoko did nothing more than nod at first. This boy obviously scared her, but he didn't seem AS intimidating speaking quieter. When she calmed down a few moments later, the first thing she took notice of was his ears.

They were...weird.

Lifting a hand, she tugged curiously on one of her own, tilting her head.

Ul smiled, a bit too oblivious to notice the look, sure, her punishments for Teagan were a bit.. Odd, but at least they worked. She pulled the door open with one last glance, then stepped through to get some nice cool treats.

Teagan looked a bit confused, then donned a wide smile, reaching up to touch his own ears, which he'd perked right back up. "Fuzzly ears!" He explained, keeping the quieter tone, few words, but he was obviously proud of them. His tail flicked around his side into view, "And fuzzlier tail!"

Tail...? What was a tail? Judging by that clueless look on her face, she didn't know. When this strange flicked the fuzzy thing behind him, she assumed that was it. Hm, but she didn't have one, did she?

A glance over her shoulder confirmed it. Nope, no tail. Just those stretchy wings she'd hidden her face with a few minutes ago. SHOULD she have a tail? The thought made her frown? Was there something wrong with her?

Noharu had a tail, too, now that she thought about it.

Oh well. She had wings so...maybe you couldn't have both? Focusing her gaze back on Teagan, she lifted a hand and pointed hesitantly to herself. "Karrrroko."

"Hi Karrrrrroko!" He chimed, concentrating on the R in an attempt to get it right. "Those are nice wings you've got." Momma always told him saying nice things sometimes made people know you want to be their friend. "And pretty blue eyes!"

The girl did little but blink at first. Did he talk that way too? Karoko didn't really mean to roll her Rs that way she just...couldn't help it. It was a weird accent, Noharu had said, but hadn't actually scolded her for it so she figured it was okay.

With the mention of her wings, her eyes moved over her shoulder again as if she'd forgotten they were there. Nice? Hm, she guessed so. Then there was a comment about her eyes, and in an attempt to "see" them, she ended up cross-eyed, dizzy, and fell over.

Teagan sat there for a moment, twitching his ears as he tried to figure out what she was doing, then gave a bit of a stifled yelp when it clicked in his head, "Oh! I get it, here!" He scuttled over to the bag and pulled out his favorite shiny, it seemed to be Mora's favorite too, a little handheld mirror. With a little smile he scuttled back under the table and held out a hand to help her up, the mirror still clutched in his other hand.

Things had been quiet. For a while, in Karoko time. So when Teagan spoke again, she jumped, eyes wide again. Instinct told her to latch onto Noharu, but before she had a chance the loud boy with a fuzzy tail was back again. And he...had something?

She surprised even herself when she took his hand, hauling herself off. Had Noharu been paying much (if any) attention (irresponsible thing), even she might've somewhat interested. Aside from her and one other person, Karoko hadn't allowed any sort of contact willingily. Hell, she'd barely allowed anyone to talk to her.

Oddly enough, her concern seemed to be more in the object Teagan had than the fact he was closer than she'd usually allow anyone (but Noharu) for this long.

Contrary to his usual behavior, Teagan actually let her settle again before he flipped the mirror open and held it out, giving her a clear view of her own blue eyes. "Blue" he repeated, tapping his shorts to show that they were blue too, just not as bright.

Ul pushed the door open cautiously, half expecting to be attacked my the child when he smelt the fruity ice cream. When he didn't she blinked and looked around, then looked a bit more confused when she spotted him under the table, sitting still. Odd, he never sat still for more than a second before getting bored. Well, at least he was being quiet.. Quiet? She settled herself at the next table over, not wanting to disturb them. "Has he, was he behaving this whole time?" she asked quietly, more out of sheer curiousity than anything else.

Oh, so they WERE blue. Karoko couldn't help but smile a little, though it didn't help her features look any less terrified or nervous than before. Noharu's eyes were blue, too. So they had the same eye color, and Teagan did too? The bat Eden decided she liked hers. "Blue," she repeated, staring into the mirror for a few more seconds.

"Hm?" When Noharu caught what she said, she waved a hand in the air carelessly. Behaved, ha. This kid was cake. And he'd kept Karoko occupied this whole time, too. As far as she was concerned he deserved a gold metal. "Yeah, they've both been just grand."
