Astride, back and forth, in her clean white sneakers, Madeline Crossette paced across the empty wooden floors . This was the first time she had been asked to work a position in which she was not confined to a small white medical room. For this, she was both glad, but also nervous. After all, she was to be teaching a battle class and battle wasn't her forte. In her tight tennis top and navy skort, she looked more ready to watch a golf tournament than teach. But--but, after some good long thought, she had remembered something she was good at, something she could teach, something valuable.
Any moment now the students would be here. Glancing about, the long empty wooden floors of what was fashioned after an old school gym, Madeline moved to prepare for the four students whom would be arriving. Along the walls were racks, rows and bags of the necessary equipment for sword play. She slipped the jacket and gloves on, easily enough, but waited to put on the mask.
Before they started, she felt it best to speak in person...with out something blocking her sight. Yes, there were a few choice words to say before they all began, with such a myriad of species and age groups...and tempers in this class. Nobody...nobody was going to go home hurt today, not under Madeline's watch.

"Should be around here somewhere, Kal..." Nibal muttered, glancing at the slip of paper in his hand, then at the numbers above the doors. "Ah, here it is!" He announced to the green dragon following him. The frog boy shoved the paper into his pocket and pulled open the door, peering in. Yup, it looked like a battle classroom. There even appeared to be some swords or something along the sides.
Letting Kal enter ahead of him, Nibal closed the door behind him and glanced around once more. It seemed he was the first here. So the boy lurked about to wait for the teacher to speak.

Zyanya entered the classroom followed by a rather eager green dragon named Hinder. She was wearing...well some could say more appropriate clothing wearing tight navy blue jeans and a sports top. The top itself was dark puple with white trimming. In all honesty it looked like she was wearing just a sports bra. Her hair was tied back, since she heard this was a fencing class she took the liberty to well..at least look up some information on it. Hence why she was wearing pants instead of her normal short shorts, and the low pony tail to keep her hair out of her face.
She spotted the teacher a few moments after entering the classroom, Hinder spotted Kal as soon as they had entered the room. His tail wagging slowly in eagerness. though he didn't approach since Zyan had also spotted Kal and she had given him a stern glare, as if saying don't you dare.

Ter was going into the class blindly, he knew that it was a battle class but passed that no real information on what he was going to be doing. It was something his father had signed him up for after his insisting that one class wasn't nearly enough to learn from. The worst part being that the one class he'd had was quite a while ago. He stepped into the class and a smile appeared on his face, alright! Z was here, not only Z but the blue frog Nibal. How cool, "Hello Z, Nibal, Miss Crozzette." He greeted.
He didn't really remember her but his father had informed him that she had given him his vaccinations at one point. He supposed anyone daring enough to stick needles into the various people that came from D-Corp couldn't be that bad, either brave or stupid or some of both.
Baroness perked up as she entered the room, "Well now, if it isn't my favorite two Greens." She said seeing both Hinder and Kalseru in once place. How great was this! She looked up at her snake then crept along forward towards them not getting to far when he caught hold of one of her spines.
"You know what your supposed to do and not do right?" He asked, he was taking a class and wouldn't be able to keep an eye on the theiving, fight starting Wyvern so best to try to warn her to be good now.
She nodded and did her best to smile innocently, had to do for one with sharp and pointy teeth.

Nev was late. Again.
She was almost tired of being late all the time. Roule wasn't even pestering her anymore, and neither was Vince.
As they finally got to D-Corp, Roule had gotten a little more glum. Mum had actually signed him up for Battle classes.... He... wanted to be strong.. and good for battles but... battling.. was so scary.
She had reassured him that it was alright - fencing classes were hardly rough or too painful beyong the customary stings.
She had dropped him off quickly, late with her own appointments and kissed the weasel roughly on the forehead and gotten out of Vince's way. The two dawdled to the battling classroom, and as they entered it, was met with a small congregation of dragons and children.
Roule blinked. The same lady who had that strange hair who put needles in him was there. He didn't know she could battle - heck, he didn't know she could pick up a weapon.. He didn't recognize anyone, but that wasn't particularly surprising. Vince grunted and plodded behind him, eyeing the other dragons with faint interest.

((Ok, I had a NICE post written up for this... but IE ate it. So you get a redone crummy one. *Fistchake of fury.* ))
Crud, crud, crud!
He was going to be late for sure. Revon quickly darted around a corner heading for the class. Losing track of time because he couldn't choose what to wear, Haru wuold yell at him for that later for sure. Still, at least he hadn't completely forgotten. And hopefully he was dressed suitably for the class. He could only hope the capris, skirt, close fitting tanktop, and sneakers would be fine. All in lovely shades of pink of course.
Flower grumbled, issuing a low hiss as he followed along. They were almost too the class and he wanted to clarify with the bird that he was, infact, not there to help. Rather, he was there to watch them make a mockery of themselves. Nothing more, nothing less. Unless someone tried to pick a fight with him. Then there would be hell to pay.
Revon skidded to a halt as the dragon let out the low noise, flinching a bit at the sound. Of course he knew Flower was only there for trouble, but he was supposed to bring him, right? So he had to be there.
A quick tug pulled the door open as he peeked in briefly, then stepped inside to hold the door open for the black dragon behind him. It swung shut again as soon as he released it after Flower cleared the area and began to slink off to a spot to watch. The boy had other worries though. A quick glance told him a few things. One, his brother wasn't here as he'd kind of hoped he would be. And the second was that Ter, that snake, was here. Which caused a minor mental cringe. Not the person he'd hoped to see.
Still... there was Madeline, and that weasel he'd met once. So... at least he knew some people that weren't as frightening. Now he'd just need to hope he wasn't in too much trouble.

A shining smile peaked through bright pink lips and Madeline raised a finger gently tapping it against her chin. She had known before hand all the students whom would be attending, still, the old familiar faces made her smile. Slowly she began to put names to each of them. "Revon," she held a close relationship with (due to her own son being his twin), she pointed at each as she said their name. "Ter--so glad you remember," her finger drifted along the crowd stopping at the weasel, "Roulette." Now the tricky part, "...Nibal," she pointed to the bright blue student, whom had been the first to walk in the door, "and last but not least, Zyanya." (Oh my, she hoped she hadn't mixed those two up.) Catching a glimpse of the girl, Madeline tried disparately not to frown at her attire...part of her wanted to snap 'cover up'! She moved on, quickly, and prayed that would distract her.
"Welcome! My name is Ms. Crossette and today I shall be teaching you the art of fencing. Three of you I have met before, and two of you, well, I hope you'll enjoy your time with me." Now, now, Madeline, don't be too sweet or eager, you are here after all to teach them something useful. "Before we begin I have a few things to go over..."
"Sit!" She commanded to them, pointing at the floor space right in front of her. And while waiting for the group to settle, turned to the rack of neatly positioned swords behind her, and slipped one from its hold. "This," she brandished the weapon, "Is called a 'Foil', it is one of the three weapons used in fencing, and the one we all will be using, due to it's flexible and light-weight nature. The blade is flat--" she ran her hand along the edge, revealing her flesh to be untouched once she removed it, "--And will not cut. However you can still seriously injure yourself! I want all of you to listen very closely to me today! And if you here this--" She tucked the Foil under her arm and, snapped her hands together producing a very sharp and nearly painful clap, "you stop what you are doing immediately."
"Now..." she paused, remembering to flash them all a smile, as not to make herself look too intimidating. "Pair yourselves off and please go to take the necessary safety gear; gloves, mask, vest...Hmn, Ter, we might have to just drape your vest over you. Same for you Revon, I'm afraid your wings won't fit. "
Letting out a sigh, Madeline gave a quick scan over everyone. "Lucky boy or girl with out a partner gets me as opponent. Now, chop, chop!"
((As for posting order after this, there is no set one. Really, kids should find partners ( you have fun with that one >3) and I will jump in as needed. ))

Nibal smiled at Ter as the boy entered, grinning. He had recognized the girl from his class with his father, but the last two he didn't know. Nibal was glad that the teacher started naming each of them, nodding as she got to his name. Kalseru's tail had wagged happily as Baroness arrived. "Oh, good. I hope this class won't be too boring."
Then the teacher was talking and Nibal was shushing her, which she didn't like too much. Both boy and dragon jumped a bit at the command to sit and promptly obeyed, listening carefully to what Madeline said. Nibal jumped once again at the loud clap. Then she was telling them to pair up and get some protective gear... wait, why would they need protective gear?!
Putting that thought aside, Nibal got up and went over to Ter. "Wanna be my partner?"

Zyanya didn't like that sound...the snap sound when the woman clapped.. She sat obeidantly, not wanting to make the teacher dislike her right off the bat. If she was going to make it through the class she better just act sickeningly sweet. But...Ter was here...she wasn't sure if she could do it. Be sweet that is while he was around. The annoyance was apparant on her face. And when instructed to find partners she was very dissapointed to find that Nibal had gotten to Ter first.
That left....the rather colorful dressed bird boy....Revon was his name? She tried to recal when the teacher had gone over them. Or the weasel. She wasn't sure which would be more interesting to fight, she was happy enough both were male. she tended to abhore other females. And so to make sure she didn't end up stuck with the teacher she moved over and tapped Roule on the shoulder.
"I'm Z." she introduced herself with a smile that lacked...friendliness. "You want to be my partner?"

Guess there wasn't an uneven number of students anymore. Of course, if the other students left over knew about her fighting prowess, they probably wouldn't be too excited. Tyven enter the room, a sober expression on her face as she acknowledged no one but the teacher, and approached the older woman with a note in her hand. It was from Turner Herrick.
Ms. Crossette-
The girl handing this note to you is my T.A, Tyven Reever, and while we've been working together extensively, I'd like her to experiment with weapons. She's very focused and polite, and I'd appreciate it if you allowed her to work with your class for a short while.
Turner Herrick, Battle Instructor
Poor Revon. Perhaps once Madeline took a look at the extremely tall preteen's muscles, and grim expression, she would pair the indigo snake with some other, more hardy, classmate.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Crossette." Tyven's smile was nice enough. Azucar, her sparkling, black lindworm, had entered silently behind his charge, giving the other dragons in the room a cursory, unconcerned once-over before stretching himself out on the ground.

Ter gave a jump his hood flarring as when in the middle of the speech she was giving the woman brought her hands together in a loud sound. He lifted his gaze to look up at the woman then let out a sighing sound as he forced himself to relax again, hood closing.
He looked over to Nibal and gave him a nod, "Sure." He said, would be interesting and since Z hadn't voice any objection and instead walked over to another to partner up with him, "Yeah, lets partner up Nibal."
They could attempt to figure out how to use those weird looking sword things? What did call them foils? Didn't look like the other sword he'd used in another class but he supposed he would see how it went he may be proven wrong after all.

Roule blinked; Zyanya's wings were massive and overall, the girl was rather scary looking. He nodded and replied, "I'm Roule, nice to meet you Z." in the loudest voice he could muster with the insect's cold smile. "We should go to Madame Crossette for our padding and stuff now.." He pointed towards the teacher, trying not to sound bashful. Weasels were not supposed to be intimidated.
Vince grunted again, obviously displeased with Roule's choice (or lack of) of partners. Obviously not having much input into it though, he followed after the weasel obediently, silently analyzing Zyanya with an air of interest.

It was always interesting to see children partner themselves up, a guilty pleasure--she really should have paired them up herself. You see, that way, no one would fee like the odd duck out, the one kid in class nobody wanted to partner up with (in this case, Revon). Well, at least it appeared that way until Tyven arrived...
A quick read of the note, was all Madeline needed, "Good afternoon to you too Tyven. We've only begun so you haven't missed much. Please go ahead and grab the equipment on the walls, protective chest gear, gloves, a helmet, sword."
With that, she was off, trusting that the more than capable looking girl was capable of getting everything she needed. Handing out missed items, weapons and other goodies, Madeline directed everyone until they were set and standing next to their partner. She had needed to give the raven a nudge in the right direction, but he would fine. (She figured even though Tyven looked intimidating, Revon would be able to hold his own against her.)
Taking in a deep breath Madeline gave a last look over the group and began what would (most likely) be a tedious lecture. "What you are learning today is not fencing, but the tip of a complex, physically demanding and historically rich sport. What you take away with you today, however, are lessons you should remember in any battle class. Not everything is attack or defense, you have to learn how to do both. You have to learn to think when someone is coming at you. Parry! Thrust! Lunge! It all happens so quick..." Oh dear, she was getting a head of herself, "But, I digress, to discuss physical aspect of the sport, we shall talk of footing. Forward and backward, there are only two directions you may travel in fencing. The movement is a shuffle. Don't lift your legs--glide, scoot forward." A scuffling sound filled the air as she shoved her right foot in front of her, her left following the action. "Backward it is the same motion, only this time, your left foot is first," and with a quick slide of her feet she was where she had once started.
"Try it please, move on your own forward and back. I will come around and help you if you are having trouble. For now, no dragons. " She looked at the whole mess of them about the gym, how wonderful.

The cobra, who had been inspecting his sword and its complete lack of a sharp edge looked up at the teacher. She seemed pretty enthusiastic about this class, the way she made it sound almost got him excited. 'Parry, thrust, lunge' all sounded useful as did learning to use both attack and defense, the latter of which he seemed to lack when fighting seeming to be more interested in doing damage to his opponent instead of worry about trying to block. No doubt why he'd ended up punch drunk by the end of his first real fight...
Ter lifted a hand to cover his mouth attempting to smother a laugh as he watched and listened to her explanations on footing. He would have to figure out his own way of doing this but at least he didn't have to worry about the 'don't lift your legs' part right? After all he lacked those and the feet needed for proper footing.
He shook his head to get his amusement in check then tested forwards and backwards movements with his coils. At least he was could move quite smoothly as was required of him that was a bonus.

Sit. A command that was easy to follow. Listen. That too was simple enough. Pair up. The boy froze slightly at the mention of it, until the part about the odd one out being with Madeline. That sounded far better. He'd begun to get up again, watching at, luckily, the other children had paired up and not included him. Most children might have fretted over being the 'odd one out,' but in fact, Revon managed a smile at it and began to make his way toward the blond teacher when the door opened. A brief glance to find out the cause sent the brief feeling of joy spiralling down, even moreso after the woman had welcomed the child and nudged him beside the girl.
Now some of the children might not have been so bad, and it wasn't so much Tyven's build that worried him, he honestly was more stuck on the fact she seemed to be another type of snake. Now she certainly wasn't Ter, which he was thankful for, but she was a snake. And the entire process of getting the equipment that they'd been told to get. The fact it was an order from someone he knew was about all that helped him get that much done. He didn't want to be rude, but the fact was, snakes scared him to death. And now he was supposed to spend how long with one?
He shrunk back as much as he could, getting the things together and moving back as once more it was lectue time. Terms and such. He could remember these things, though he wasn't so sure about doing them. Then again... forward and backward. That wasn't too hard, it didn't require letting a snake attack you either. So... it seemed alright.
He took a deep breath, trying to ease his nerves as he glanced the the girl. Nope, any sense of peace he had was gone. Deffinitely scary. Oh why couldn't he have been paired up with Madeline instead?
((Revon just dislikes snakes in general. XD Rayne knows why. So uh, Revon hasn't even realized that Tyv can probably beat him to a pulp. It's mostly the 'OH GOD SNAKE IT'S GONNA EAT ME' reaction more than anything. Should be interesting.))
