What's the difference?

I was looking online for basses and stuff, and I was thinking of getting a ibanez btb type bass. But when I was looking there was ibanez btb400, btb500, btb1000, etcetc. I'd like to know, what's the difference between numbers?

Edit: So far I've figured out the last number is the strings.
Like 450 = 4 string
455 = 5 string
456 = 6 string

Still don't understand the first two numbers though.

Types of pickups? number of pickups?
It's just a series number I think.
and then the final numbers in the series is the number of strings.

So the numbers really don't affect the sound?

The higher the number, generally the higher the quality. A 400-series will run you about $500 while a 1000-series, about $1000. It's like Mexican and American Fenders, Ibanez just uses numbers.
