I figured everyone would want to talk about the book sooner or later, so here is the official thread.

We've got to have a few ground rules, though: if you've read the book be respectful of other's who haven't had the chance, or are not finished. All spoiler material should be blanked out in white or extremely tiny text. Additionally, please label the top of your post with a big spolier warning.

Did you already read the whole thing? gonk People who get through the WHOLE HP book on the first day scare me. Someone from camp posted a facebook status at 10:30 Saturday morning saying she finished it. Jesus Christ.

I got my book today, but am not starting it yet because I'm in the middle of Good Omens and can't do two books at once. I'll probably start it next weekend, so I'm keeping out of this thread for now >.> And I'm gonna remind people juuust in case DON'T PUT ANY SPOILERS IN THE GENERAL CHAT THREAD OR ANYTHING CAUSE THAT WOULD SUCK. smile

Man I finished the book Sunday. It would've been done the first day but mom and Caitlin made me read in short spurts. They kept wanting to do stuff.

LOVED IT!! omg it was amazing. I was so happy with it and I cried when I finished. It was upsetting to know I had finished it. All of it. But it was exactly the way I wanted it to be=)

I had to wait until my mom read it, since the day after we got it I went to Otakon and she wouldn't let me bring it. XD Though I saw plenty of people reading it there. And then after that, Sashie forgot to bring her copy when she slept over for two nights, so she read mine...

Anyway, NOW I've finished it. I guess I'll wait for the lot of you to finish before I start anything. XD

But SPOILERRRRR

I was really worried that Snape would turn out to be bad. XD I was like... they never mentioned him being good! But then at the very end he was good. Which was cool. I find it really sweet and sad how he wanted to see Lily's eyes one last time before he died.
And I'm glad that they didn't leave all those doubts about Dumbledore that were appearing throughout the book. I'm happy that it turned out he really was good and was watching out for Harry.

Not really a spoiler, but... XD

I cried like... a lot. XD

I think my favourite part was either Harry FINALLY talking to Dumbledore in his 'dream' or nice Kreacher.

I KNOW! That really threw me for a loop, too, and right at the beginning of the book. Geez, what a way to throw it to the readers... killing off the faithful pets...

I was also shocked by Fred dying. George without Fred is just unimaginably WRONG. I figured there'd be a better chance that Ron or Hermione would die than that the twins would be separated. The other deaths... for the most part I saw coming, or wasn't shocked about.

P.S. Shia, Snape was so obviously good. Ever since he killed Dumbledore, there was only one explanation in my mind. The Doe patronus was so obviously his razz

SPOILERS.

I loved Snape. I think it ended beautifically with him being good and wanting to see Lily's eyes when he died.

I was so mad and I actually cried when Hedwig died. And then when harry had to blow the cart up, with Hedwig inside. And Harry losing his firebolt. It was all so upsetting.

But whatever. It had to happen. I guess. ... why did she kill Hedwig sad

I cried when Fred died, especially because Percy held him and wouldn't let him go. And then the entire Weasley's all around his body and George crying. I was like, 'why??' I also cried when Lupin and Tonks died. That upset me.

I cried the hardest however, when Harry was making that trip back to the forest to meet Voldemort. I had to stop reading I was crying so hard. Seeing Neville and Ginny and thinking what he did. It was the most well written scene in the whole book and tons of Kudos to JK. I bow to her greatness lol

Highlight the white, people.

I LOVED the Kreacher being nice thing! That was so awesome. It made me sad when the trio couldn't go back to the House of Black and they mentioned Kreacher waiting there with his pies or whatever... poor Kreacher.

I know!! Hedwig!! I just have the feeling that JKR killed her off because it would be hard to have Harry carrying her everywhere or something. D: I mean... it doesn't seem like a death to be sad, but just to get Hedwig out of the way or something. Poor Hedwig. ;A;

I know, I totally can't imagine George without Fred. It's like... how would George be able to survive without him? They were ALWAYS together.

It was cool having Teddy make out with Bill and Fleur's child at the end. xD At first I didn't even get that it was Bill and Fleur's child... after Ele told me I was like "Oh, I feel stupid". xD It's so obviously a French name.

It was pretty cool how Snape saved him with the doe patronus. <3

It was pretty sad that Percy JUST came back and he was JUST bonding with Fred again.... and then Fred dies. I mean, really. But I liked how Percy came back, somehow I didn't see that coming. xD I should've, though.

I reeeaally started crying when Fred died... and then I started again when it mentioned Fred dead again, next to Lupin and Tonks. I mean, that really... saddened me. Poor Teddy has to grow up with Grandma Andromeda. I wish Harry had actually went around the Great Hall to see who else was dead, though. I mean... he was kind of like "I don't want to see who's dead and who's alive", but I would've wanted to.
