Do you think the price of manga should be lowered?
Definately, we're paying way to much for one book!
Perhaps. It couldn't hurt them to drop the price just a little.
  Indifferent.
Eight to 10 dollars per book (tax not included) is reasonable.

In North America, the average manga sells for about $8-10 in the States and about $12-13 in Canada.
In Japan, however, it goes for about 400 yen - the equivilant to 1-2 US dollars.
Keeping in mind the costs of translation teams, mass production and distribution, among other things, perhaps $8 could be considered reasonable.
Still, knowing this, I'm sure fans will be unhappy to know that their $320 collection of 40 manga is worth about 16000 yen in Japan - roughly $48.
I find this to be completely unfair, especially to those who spend hundreds on manga alone (such as myself, my collection being comprised of over $650), and think the price should be dropped, at least somewhat.

I started this thread as a sort of test to see what kind of results I got.
If this thread proves to be successful, then perhaps I'll post it in more populated areas (such as the A/M/C or possibly other sites).
If the thread proves to be even more successful in areas such as that, I might be able to get an official petition going.
So, any thoughts?

I was considering a slight price drop such as that myself, perhaps to about $5-6.

I've always thought that manga seemed expensive...

I've always thought that manga seemed expensive...

And that's why we have to do something about the prices.
I don't know how much a 14-year-old can do... but knowing I can do anything at all is enough to motivate me to take a stand.

While it is agreeable Walmart has reasonably low prices, their manga selection is poor (as to be expected from a store other than one who's sole purpose is to sell books, aka a book store) and the books are always ruined because:
1. People don't have enough sense to fold the books back at a sensible distance, and
2. Walmart faces the books forward as opposed to sideways, meaning the books are not being compressed and the bends cannot repair themselves over time.

As a matter of fact, I do this time. Walmart has a horrible selection of manga, and all the manga they do sell are ruined.

I think the prices are really high even for me and I make over $1,000 a week and I still live with my parents (keep in mind I'm 15) and I still can't aford it. I think a reasonable price would be $5 because I'm not rich and I like to own them.

And this is just my opinion but wal mart sucks and I wouldn't buy anime from there unless it was absolutly my only option.
