So. I got the book at midnight last night. I went home. I started to read at 1:45 am, and finished at 12:45 pm, exactly 11 hours after I started. I read it straight through, only stoping to take 2 or 3 bathroom breaks. I... I don't know how to feel just now. (I'm going to put spoilers in white text, because there's nothing I hate more than when someone ruins a book for me. I encourage everyone else to do the same.) I feel that it was amazing way to tie everything together. But, I mean, the whole invisibility cloak thing? Had she really planned that it would be a deathly hallow since book 1!? I found the parts on Dumbledore's backround very interesting. I've always disliked Ron, but it increased tenfold when he abandoned them. I found the part where Dudley was nice to Harry to be extremely adorable. Well, as adorable as someone like Dudley could be. My favorite chapter was the one where everything about Snape was revealed. I cried though that whole chapter, because I felt so bad for hating Snape previously, and I felt so bad that he loved Lily, but she married James. Gaah. I thought the fact that Harry was able to come back to life was extremely bogus. I've been thinking, even before I read it, that if something like that happened, I'd be really pissed. But then again, the way it was written... I guess it wasn't so bad... I guess it was kinda obvious that R. A. B. was Sirius's brother. I mean, I had figured it out almost right away when I read that in the 6th. What about you all? Did you figure it out before Harry? I thought the epilouge seemed kinda tacked on and corny. Okay, your turn. Likes and dislikes of the last book. Review it. Did your predicitions come true? Was it too obvious? Favorite chapters? GO GO GO!

I haven't read the book so I can't really talk about the events, but I'm kinda upset about that character deaths. That and I don't think I have ever read one of the books. ^^;; I have Dessie to tell me about what goes on in the book.

haha i got the book too at midnight and started reading it at 1:15am and finsihed at 10:00...almost nine hours...i'll also voice my opions on the book in white:
I thought the book was really well written but they still didn't explain why harry's parents thrice defined voldemort and that i feel would have been a good deal of information to inculde in the story. Also the thing about Snape loving Lily was really sad and interesting. Also how Dumbledore planned everything out]
Again i loved this book it was really great and can't wait till i reread it again

I just finished the book cuz I couldn't go at midnight because my dad said I needed my rest for my final performance at summer school.
Soooo....on a whole I really liked it, although if there was one thing I didn't like it was how much J.K. Rowling played up the connection between Harry and Voldemort, I think it was sort of stupid seeing how we knew already that Voldemort had started blocking his mind from Harry..why stop now? The whole Dumbledore thing really had me uneasy for a while, I loved Dumbledore soooo much...I knew from the point that you found out that Grindlewald was the thief of the Elder Wand that it was Dumblies wand, I think discovering that was too drawn out. I really liked how you find out at the end that it was Snape that "gave them the sword...the whole Hedwig dying thing....I didn't like that at all I think it would have been better without that. And Fred dying...GAH! How can George live by himself I can't imagine them not together crying . Definitely liked the rest though...I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooo sad that it's the end the Epilogue really set that home for me, I almost cryed, and the fact that Harry named one of his sons Albus Severus Potter is really touching, especially the Severus part. One thing I noticed about a lot of the book is that besides the details, there wasn't much surprising about it, except *sob* Dobby dying. Probably becuase there were so many guesses about the 7th book, and us fans are pretty good at guessing.
Great book....if you haven't already read it....Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows....read it!

About why Voldemort stopped blocking the connection, I think it's because Dumbledore's dead. He probably put the block up so that Dumbledore wouldn't have been able to see what he was doing, rather than so that Harry couldn't. Also, he didn't have the same control over the wizarding world in the sixth book that he did in the seventh, so there was more need for secrecy.

I read the book in 4 hours and 45 minutes (the 45 mins were my breaks at work)! I loved the book! I've read it a few times now and still love it! (rest in white!)
I already knew that a bit of Voldie's soul was in Harry. I thought harry was actually going to die though. I'm glad he didn't!
I didn't forsee Snape being a good guy though! Or him loving Lily Potter. That was a shocker. A good one though.
I liked that Mrs Weasley dueled Bellatrix Lestrange. That was so cool. She got revenge for Fred!
But they killed Hedwig! Thats not allowed! The rest of the book wasn't the same without her!
Everyone has to go and read it now if they haven't already!

The book was so good. The book was an emotional roller coaster ride, and I cried so much. crying It was beautiful, and now it's over....
I loved how she really played with our emotions. I know I thought he was going to be a horcrux and die, and so when he was I thought he was a goner. It was amazing how she tricked us!
I loved how she showed us that this book wasn't a joke from the start with the quotes and poem, and espeically Hedwig.
My favorite part was Snape's chapter. He was so brave, and I cry every time I read it.

I got the book around 8pm on Sat. and finished at like 1pm Sun. because I was cleaning and I took long breaks, ha sweatdrop . Text in white I was very disappointed when Doby died. I loved it when Molly went to town on Bellatrix. I knew the calm spirit was a cover up, Haha! Aw, SNAPE!!!! Him loving Lily was so nice! I wanted to cry so much! Ron kinda got on my nerves becase even though he was concerned for his family, he shouldn't have abandoned Harry and Hermoine. But if he didn't go, I guess they eouln;t have found out about Voldemort's name being jinxed. And Draco helped Harry! YAY! He's like my best friend for doing that.

It took me a few days to read the new Harry Potter book, due to the facts that A: I was on vacation and didn't have the time, and B: I just didn't really like it as much as the other ones. (More details in white.)
It seems as though no one likes the fact that Ron deserted Hermione and Harry. Personally, I agree with Ron doing that (I do like Ron, for the record. So, I'm not saying this because I don't like him.) But, Ron does have a tendency to overreact to certain situations and he has strays away from Harry before when they didn't see eye-to-eye. Anyone remember the Goblet of Fire? Ron ignored Harry for a while because Harry had been chosen as one of the Champions.
It makes sense, that while they were out in the middle of nowhere, on the run from Voldemort, Ron just decided top leave. Everyone had been getting on everyone's nerves, and I couldn't see Ron handling it. After all, Ron came from a family where while they didn't have much, there was always food on the table and a roof over his head. He didn't really have to wrry about where he was going to stay the next night and he didn't have to worry about being on his own. Arthur, Molly and his older brothers took care of a lot of things.
But, what really is important is the fact that Ron actually came back to Harry and Hermione after realizing his mistakes. And the whole part where he actually had the guts to go back to his friends after that. He showed that he was a true friend and that he could be counted on. He just had needed a little bit of time to himself to cool off.
Another thing I would like to add about Ron taking off is that he didn't go back home to his family. Sure, he went to Bill and Fleur's place, but he didn't go back to his Mom, Dad, and other siblings. It's not like he actually was having a good time. Bill and Fleur even seemed annoyed that Ron abandoned Harry and Hermione. But, Ron did correct his mistake by taking the time to look for his friends. He even brought back information to them.
Another point I didn't like about the book was the fact that Harry was hit by the Killing Curse and he "died". But, he came back to life. To me, that seemed really corny. I don't know if anyone else will agree with me here, but even if Harry is the Boy-Who-Lived, that shouldn't mean that he shoul be able to come back after being hit by the curse.
Yes, yes, I understand the whole bit about Harry being a Horcrux of Voldemort's, but he should technically be dead after being hit by the curse.
Or, still thinking along the lines of the Hoprcruxes, shouldn't Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, and Regulus have been able to defeat the Horcruxes by hitting it with the Killing Curse? It should have technically worked if it worked with Harry. Why didn't anyone else think of it?
Another thing that irked me was the needless killing of Hedwig. It seemed rushed and almost like it was there only to have another death to the book. Everyone else, mostly, had a reason for dying, but Hedwig didn't. It doesn't make any sense.
I would have liked to have seen more about James, Lily, Rmus, Sirius, and Peter. A little more history on them would have been nice, but, we did get to see into Snape and Dumbledore's pasts which is a plus in my book. I also liked how Dumbledore wasn't as nice as he appeared and that he wasn't a good guy from the time he was young. Although, I do feel a bit bad for him when his younger sister died because he and his brother and friend were fighting. Snape I really didn't feel any sympathy towards because he should have moved on when he found out that Lily was'nt intersted in him, but on the other hand, it was sad to see that he was still hung up over his long lost love so many years later.
To add another point to my complaints, I would like to say that I wasn't thrilled with the Ministry in this book. It seemed like it was a bit too easy to infiltrate, in the cases of both Harry & Co and Voldemort & Minions. I cna understand that the Ministry already had Death Eaters in their ranks, but woulkdn't you think, since the Minister is still against Voldemort, that there would be better protection against people using the Imperious spell? And even after the Ministry's been completely and totally taken over, wouldn't you think there was a way to make sure those who took the Polyjuice Potion, or some other spell/potion that could change the appearance of a person? Wouldn't you think Voldemort was smarter than that?
One more thing I had a problem with: Vodemort being ale to fly like that. How was he able to do it> I thought the only ways to fly were either on a broomstick or some other magical device, or on the back of a magical creature. (If you exclude Muggle methods, that is, because I don't think Voldemort was using an airplane to go after Harry. xD ) It defies the laws of Physics for one and it seems cheap. Also, I don't like how Voldemort went straight after Moody and Mundungus. It seemed waaay too predictable.
The whole part with Remus, James, Sirius and Lily coming back for a short time with Harry also annoyed me. I mean, if they're dead, they should stay dead. Isn't one of the themes of the books being able to cope with the deaths of loved ones during war?
This brings me to one of my final problems with the book: The Epilogue. To me, this part of the book seemed rushed and extremely vague. The children weren't really introduced as well ad I would have liked and it didn't really tell you anything besides the fact that Draco got married, had a son; Harry and Ginny got married and had three children; Hermione and Ron got married and had two children; Victorie Weasley was making out with Ted Lupin. You weren't told who Ted lives with, although it is made known that he visits Harry's house almost everyday. The parents of Victorie Weasley aren't reveaed so it is assumed that she is either the daughter of Hermione and Ron or Bill and Fleur. The jobs of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny are not revealed either. Yes, I know that J.K. Rowling revealed this information in interviews, but it should have been included in the books. Also, I was not impressed with some of the names such as Rose and Albus Severus. Rose is a cliched name, in my opinion, and Albus Severus doesn't sound right to me. It would have sounded better if they named two sons Albus and Severus. Also, there was no mention of Luna,
Other than that, I liked the book. Kreacher's Tale was interesting and I liked the fact that he warmed up to Harry and Co, and vice versa. Dobby dying was sad, but it felt right. (Don't hurt me! >< ) I absolutely loved the part with Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix dueled. Fred dying wasn't a favorite part; neither was Tonks or Remus' deaths. Moody's death was a twist that I liked. Honestly, I did not see him dying. o.o;;
I also liked the part with Number Twelve, Grimauld Place. I thought that part was nice. The wedding between Bill and Fleur was alright, though I liked the part where Harry took the Polyjuice Potion. That, in my opinion was funny. I would have liked to learn more about Viktor and Xenophilius; they were really neat characters.
Eh. I think I’ll stop there for now. I’m getting tired. D:

You new Harry had to live because it is, well is supposed to be a children's book. Sadly in a way I think he should have died, it would have been an easier ending.

WARNING: THIS IS A GIANT POST OF SPOILERS. IN WHITE.)The part where Lupin is so stricken by what he thinks he's done to Tonks and Teddy always seemed very real to me. The way JKR wrote it, you can totally see his body language in your head and tell exactly how terrible he thinks he is. On Harry's birthday, right before the wedding, she gives Harry this giant kiss. I thought that part was sweet, but also kind of...I don't really know, just lame, I guess. She's kind of leading him on. Well, until they get married, that is. heart 4laugh Right after the death of Fred ( burning_eyes emo crying sweatdrop emo ) JKR says this beautiful thing to start the next chapter: "The world had ended, so why was the battle still happening?" I always love that line, because it shows how much love everybody has for each other.
