The dappled brown mare pulled at the long grass, which fairly glowed green in the summer heat. A soft breeze of cool wind swept past to ruffle the tops of trees, bending the gentle stalks of grass and making them dance about at its touch. It was a picture perfect day, the epitome of summer, and on such a day, one was expected to do little more than laze about and enjoy.

Tay stared out blissfully from where she stood cropping grass, her mind drifting as she thought back to the days of her foalhood. She hadn't seen Duran in some time. That hadn't been very good for her. She had missed the days she had spent with her brother, days of romping through the hills, and of misadventures, and plenty of falls. Now that she thought back, maybe the two of them had had a little too much fun as foals. But then again, there was a reason every creature was born small. It was so that they could have the briefest span of time to enjoy the world before they were thrust out into it with minds full of thoughts of responsibility and the like.

If only more of them realized it. In humans, childhood seemed to be an eternal affair, and that was good for them. It wasn't exactly fair that a human might enjoy the world for a longer time than a Soquili, or in fact any other animal, but Tay couldn't quite complain. Children were friendly. Perhaps that was why they got to stay little for so long.

As yet another breeze came by to caress the tops of the thin blades of grass, Tay let her thoughts slip back and forth between now and the past, as of now content to watch the world pass her through half lidded eyes.

Sherdian walked quieghtly along the grassland, the stocks seeming to bend before his pressance as the wind danced along before him. A smile played across his face and a small chuckle escaped his chest. The wind in its playful breeze had caught up the dark strands of his hair and sent them twining and dancing on the draft.

It seemed as if only yesterday he had meet Ardia, and only a day after they had become parents for the first time. The children, all of them where grown now and he hardly ever saw them. Since the time each one had learned to run they had tested the boundries and liked the freedom. Adult hood had granted them the pleasure of coming and going and with such free hearts few ever came home.

The mighty stallion was on his way into the mountains where he so iften liked to spend his time. He understood more than one might think what joy his children felt out in the world.

She knew, if dimly, that she should find more pleasure in spending time at home, be it with Chay or with her parents or the rest of her siblings. But in truth, after she had felt the wide open expanses of meadow and plains and rolling hills, she could hardly bring herself to leave them, and so any meeting with her family that might occur would simply have to occur out where she loved to be.

Perhaps once in a while, she would think of home - of Chay and of everyone else she had come to love throughout her life - and she would return there, if only for a fleeting glance of the teepees and the smell of smoke drifting off into the skies. If only just to reassure herself that it was still there.

But that was who she was, she wandered. And although there were times when her love for those at home were stronger than her instinct to travel, more often than not she could be seen grazing each dawn under the rising sun. She followed her heart. It was one true thing in a world of untruths, she had come to find. True to herself, and for the while, that was all that really mattered.

Sheridan quietly surveyed the meadow with a soft huff. The grass sparkled with fresh due and the wind gently coaxed the stocks of grain to sway in a timeless waltz. The stallion smiled and kicked up his large hooves.

The chocolate stallion danced his way across the meadow, poetry in motion as his hooves pranced over the grain and seemed to only just float above the ground. He picked his legs up high as he danced along, a dance he had passed down to his son Takoda, and sometimes he thought even some of the girls new the steps.

A movement to his right caught his attention and the stallion turned his head, only to have the wind kick up and blow his ebony locks into his feild of vision. The strong stallion stopped dancing and shook his head to bring his mane to rest once again along his neck where it belonged.

A mare in the distance, full of chocolate and ebony. His smile returned to him as he spotted his daughter, one of his youngest whom had found the love of the land. "Tayook?" he called to her.
