Copper sang softly to himself and Kasi. It seemed she wasn't awake though. It was early in the morning and a layer of sunrise dew covered them. Looking at the little droplets made him thirsty but he didn't want to leave Kasi. He had no clue why he was up so early, but the birds had been chattering so loudly he had not been able to sleep any longer. ((xD Copper luffs his lullabies.))

Copper was right; she wasn't really awake, but she did catch the last bit of his lullaby, and after a bit of stirring, snorts and mumles, the mare lifted her head, snorted and yawned. "But its morning. " She said after a pause. "Why shoulld I sleep more? " She grinned, but looked sleepy. Her ears moved slowly, lazly to listen to the odd, unusual loudness of the birds. They were always loud, but not usually this loud. And birds too usually liked to sleep in a bit; especially if the sky was still this.. kind-of dark. Bats were probably still out, and she knew as well as anyone, birds didn't usually stay around the same time as bats. She had a feeling they competed for the sky.
something just didn't feel right. But Kasi was never one to worry; and quickly got to her hooves, shaking out her fur and mane, both wet from the dew, especially with all the trees around them. "Hi Copper. " She flicked her tail, and leaned foreward a bit, stretching her back.

Another thing had been bothering him. The air was odd today. Not as clear as it should be. It was weird. And the birds were more active than usual. However, now that Kasi was awake he ignored his thoughts. "Good mornin'! Didn't mean to wake 'ya." he said and nuzzled her. "So...What'cha wanna do today?" he asked curiously, politely waiting for her to fully awaken.

"I dunno. " Kasi said sleeply, almost forgetting to nuzzle copepr back. But then she perked her ears. "Oh yeah! " She said suddenly, seemning almost entirely awake. "Ya owe me five apples. " She smiled, pricking her ears.
But out of the blue, she yanked her head away, and moved towards the edge of the bushes, peering out and sniffing the air. It smelled.. odd. But then again, she had never been here before in the day. "S'prolly nutthin. " She muttered to herself, and raised her head, looking at the trees. "What should we have for breakfast? 'sides th' apples. Cuz 'm kind ahungry. " She said, smiling. Horses typically ate alot whenever they had the chance to, and since here had so many fruit.. it kind of effcted how much she felt like eating. Everything just looked so.. tasty!

Copper nodded. "I'll get to it then!" he said with a slight chuckle. He made his way towards the apple tree and got into a sort of pouncing possition. A very odd thing for a horse to do. He wiggled his bottom in the air and flung himself at the lowest apple on the tree. His teeth clamped down on it and he set it on the ground. "One down four to--" he stopped and sniffed the air again. The smell was getting even stronger. He began to worry but continued getting apples until he had four.
((Gah! Gotta go AGAIN! Sorry.))

Kasi watched, bemused as he got into some sort of cat like pouncing position. It was pretty funny. She desided to attempt it too, and succeeded, leaping and getting anothe rapple off a tree, but the deal was for him to get five, and hee was sitll missing one.
So while that, Kasi placed her apple with his, and waited for him to catch a last so they could eat. She kept her nose near the apples, however, to keep the annoying smell away from her nose. It was so.. odd. And meanwhile, birds flitted overhead as the sky got lighter.

He took another leap and missed but then he took a running jump and eventually got the last apple. He put it in their little collection. "Dig in!" he said and held his head high proudly. But the smell was worse when he put his head up so he copied Kasi's idea and inhaled the sweet smell of the apples. "Am I the only one who smells that?" he asked just in case.

The amre smiled, and began to eat an apple, after lying down next to them. At his question, she shook her head. "A' smell it too. We sohuld check it out after we eat. " She nodded smartly, while splitting an apple in half.
She spent the next minutes eating, quickly out of anxiety too find out what was going on, and soon had eaten three apples; she'd leave the other three for Copper. She watched him for a bit, ears twitching. Now there was a sound, too, wich she hadn't heard earlier because of her chewing the apples. But now she heard some sort of crackling. She'd wait for Copper to finish eating aswell, because the sound of his own chewing would probably confuse his ears a bit too.
So she got up, looked around, then froze. "Copper.. " She gaped, her eyes, wide with shock, focusing on something behind him, and she backed away slowly. "Copper... " She blinked in disbelief. Because behind Copper, a bush had started to catch fire.
(( We can just say the bushes/trees at first blocked sight of the fire xD So they wouldn't have noticed it earlier ))

Copper looked up from eating and gaped behind her. A tree was almost all the way on fire. He watched with a sickening feeling as the flames licked around the leaves and moved on to the next tree. He whirled around and everywhere he saw flames joining together to swallow their sanctuary. "Kasi, we have to get out of here, NOW." he said And stood up from eating. The flames were closing around them quickly and he watched as moths and other bugs and small animals rushed from the burning smoke. He rushed her urgently. It was odd how quickly the fire had come.

It was obvious, the mare had never had much contact with fire. She had seen occasionall sparks in the distance in human camps, but never close. And now, right here, so close she could feel it. It was dazzling. Her ears remained perked, and she remained standing there, though stumbling a bit sideways as Copper urged her on.
Now that the foilage aorund them had started to burn, the smoke from outside was also finding an easier way in, making her eyes sting painfully untill she finally realised how much in trouble they were. The tree behind her had started to creak, but barely audible under the crackling fire, and soon it was falling.. falling. And she moved out of the way, surprised, hooves beating the ground and rearing onto her hind legs. She ran from one side to the other, but they were rather surrounded. They'd have to get through the fire, and they weren't as small or swift as other critters. And now, she looked aorund for Copper, unsure.

Copper had not heard the tree fall. He had found a way out and thought Kasi was right behind him. But when he looked around he almost cried. He yelled her name and looked around for her. "Kasi!" he said starting to go back. But now there was no way back in. He yelled her name at the top of his lungs and tried stressedly to get through the heat. He walked around looking for a way in but it seemed the flames were only growing to keep him out. He felt tears running down his face, and not just because of the heat and smoke. He saw a spot where the fire was weaker and thought to himself about running through it to find her...

Copper had vanished. He was gone. Maybe the tree had actually fallen between them-- and he had to run off. But now there was no time to think. She picked a random direction and ran for it, and for a moment, Copper might have seen a glimpse of her stripes, but flames quickly lifted high and covered any view.
She continued to run, quickly enough forthe fire not to singe her leg feathering or mane or tail, but she was running away from copper. The world looked compleetly differend around her, red, ablaze. But then she remembered the water. Copper had ran the other way, but Kasi still had the chance to reach it.
And as she started to run, clouds started to rumbl. Kasi was left racing through the fire. And then she coulr see the water, just behind the falled tree-- and so she jumped over it, leaping through the flames. But there was an outstretched branch on the other side, and her right front hoof landed awkwardly on it, soon she felt the pain running up her leg, and with a distressed neigh, the mare fell into the water.

Copper found himself back in the circle of flames. But this time, it was smaller. Fire was everwhere he turned and he didn't know which way to go. He knew he needed to get to the water but didn't know which way it was. He didn't see Kasi anywhere so a glimmer of hope told him that she had gotten out and it gave him the strength to continue living. He backed up and ran towards some flames and threw himself over them. But what he hadn't seen was that there was more firey bushes beyond there. For a moment he could not see because of the pain but soon he forced himself to get up. Copper was glad to see that he only had a few burn marks and scratches. He looked up at the sky and couldn't tell if the clouds were smoke or rain clouds. He sang to himself uncomfortably as he tried to find the water.

It was a while before Kasi managed to resurface, because here, after having run a while downstream, the water was a bit more agitated, perhaps also provoked by a tree falling in it. When she did get her head out of the water, she was slightly downstream, and she felt sprinkles on her nose, but not beacause of the river; because it had started to rain.
She paddled a little oddly, her right hoof hurted terribly; she hadn't broken it, but it was terribly strained. She managed to reach the bank a while after, and leaned towards it, kind of laying down, though half her body was still in the water. She didn't want to go far from it, in case the fire came this way. She dragged herself a bit more outwards, though, folding her hoof carefully next to her body, folding her ears thoughtfully. It hurt. But Copper would show up soon, but what if he didn't see her? there was kind of a fallen tree blocking her view, but the fire on it had already turned off.

Copper looked up at the sky with a faint smile and sang louder as the rain storm got bigger. The coldness felt great on his burns and he held still for a minute or so, letting himself get damp. As he continued walking he saw that at least some of the fire was dying down. Everything that was not on fire seemed to be completely black or dead but he thought he knew where he was. The rain began to pound down on him.
Copper turned around, he had been going the opposite direction of water. Every now and then while he walked sometimes a tree branch or log would move and caused brief sparks. When he looked to the side he saw the smoke and flames where the rain had not yet reached. But he wasn't too worried about fire anymore. All he knew was that Kasi could be in danger. He hoped she too had headed towards the river. Finally he reached it. For a minute his heart sank when he could not see her instantly. But what was that? Down the shore, he saw something. He rushed towards it, slipping and sliding dangerously in the mud.
