I am sure there are a lot of wind instrument players here in the guild. I just picked up a wind instrument and trust me...it requires A LOT if not TONS of breath (well like many wind instruments) and I have to keep changing breath pressure constantly.
Are there any excersises you can advice?
I practiced today for who knows who long. While playing everything was fine but when I stopped I felt lightheaded, dizzy, weak, unable to walk
sweatdrop Thanks
what are you playing?
okay, all i play (exept mallets and piano) is wind instruments.
and it actualy
is better to play as much as you can when your starting, just make sure you dont fall over. * I did that when i started flute*
what you do is you stand up strait, take as deep a breath as you can, hold it for as long as you can, then let it out slowly, for as long as you can.
it sounds stupid, but it helps alot.
also, try standing when you play.
sitting down makes it harder to breath, believe it or not. when you get more experienced, it's good to sit down, just because you'll probably be preforming that way, *if you chuse to preform*
hehe.
your predicament reminds me of when i started marching trombone.
*if your playing a woodwind, imagine blowing 10 times more air, to get a sound. that's Brass*
i ended up marching it, and it was really hard. i almost passed out at practice.
It's really cool when you get to the point where you can breath while your playing. I can only do that on flute though.
Good luck.
