Do they really work? Or is there a scientific explanation for it? At one of my friend's birthday party we contacted a 69 year old named Gus. We asked him if he used to live here, and he said,

666? *shudders* Other than that, the answer makes no sense. But the other answers did though. At the Ouija board, (there were 7 people at that party, including a fortune teller) we all sat, crossed legged in a circle and two people each took turns asking questions. I hope nobody pushed it!

There is also something about a quija board letting in bad spirits, and being the gateway to hell?

The theory is that they attract weak spirits first and as more weak spirits collect in one place, around the ouija board, stronger ones are attracted to them.

As for the moving, that can normallt be explained my shaking of the finger. This happens without the person reliesing it. Try it, touch the top of a flat surface with you finger tip and try not to move it, if you watch carefully it will shake a little.

When a group put their fingers on the glass or pointer use during a ouija board it shakes and appears to move.

But that only accounts for some of it. I do believe that sometime you can reach spirits with a ouija board but I wouldn't try it. I know a lot of people say you can 'close' the gateway by saying good bye but that really only stops the spirit from using the board any more. It doesn't stop that from hanging around.

I've watched friends doing ouija board before, mainly the ones you make your self by cutting up pieces of paper. They never got anything through, and when they claimed they did all the infomation they got was wrong.

I've had a priest who preformed/aided in several exorcisms. When someone in the religious class asked him how would someone get posessed, the priest told us earnestly that ouija boards are like a welcome matt to demons and other nasties that can posess you.
I was also told that if you burn them, not only do they melt but they release what ever spirits(or nasties) that are in the board.
I've never used one though simply because what my priest told me. 3nodding

I thought the board just screamed if you burned it, I didn't know it released evil spirits. I hate the boards myself and know how evil they are but I didn't know destroying them would make things worse.

It is a tool, and tools themselves do not create things, it is the user who shapes the outcome.
People who have had bad experiences are usually the ones who tried to talk with ghost without any serious reasons-like at parties for fun..
I presume it´s because you invite random spirits, but if you invite someone particular, like your deceased ancestors and relatives, now that´s something totally else.
But if you look at one of the subforums, there should be a whole post dedicated to Ouija boards, where there are instructions on how to do it safely, and most of the people there write they had good experiences.

I plan to buy and use one, but I plan to cast a protection on it so only good spirits can enter. I'm going to have the write and cast a powerful one though. The lunar eclipse is on the 20th. Its gonna be interesting. :3

Lol, some people just get a little to hyped up on this.

Okay the Ouija board is just essentially a piece of card board, pap, or wood that has a plastic planchette or glass on it. It is not some ancient Grimoire that will unleash the four horsemen and doom the world of man to a never ending apocalypse, which how most people tend to use it as.
it is used as a focusing device, and a rather weak one at that, since most of them are usually bought from milton-bradley brands lol. it has no personal feel or energy to it, and because it mass produced what ever power they may have had it stretched incredibly thin.
Now as for your dark spirits and what not, i won't lie, there is always some looking for an escape route. But the people who do have troubles, or think they are having contact with a dark spirit usually fall into these catagories:

A. they don't know what the are looking for, so their hand unconsciously moves the planchette into what the mind wants

B. they do know what they are doing, but don't take proper precautions, and dive in head first

or

C. They get a little pumped up when they get a response, and invoke a higher, stronger ( and most often than not meaner) spirit. and then don't know how to deal with it.

so all in all, its just a tool, how YOU use it depends on your results.
