I haven't seen this topic here: So I created it.
Do you think Final Fantasy VII should be remade for either the PS3 or the PSP? Give reasons why you say so.

I really don't think they will remake it, but if they do, I think it would be on the PS3. PSP might not be the right... medium for a theoretical remake. I know they are remaking/have remade Tactics on the PSP(which annoys me because I love the game, and I don't wanna buy a PSP just to play a remake, no matter if it has a "guest" charrie from a more recent FF), but that's reasonable. There wasn't as much detail in Tactics as there is in VII.
The Tech Demo for VII to show what the PS3 can do was spectacular, and fanned the fires of the "remake" rumor. The graphics were amazing, and I can just imagine how it would look if it were made on the PS3... Hellfires, I can easily imagine it if were made for the PS2! But then, the blocky animation and serious Localization errors are some of the things I love about VII. "This guy are sick" is one of my favorite oopses.
I do know one of the key players(can't remember its Nomura or someone else...) in VII and AC did say he would love to remake VII, but its just not possible with all that's already on his plate reguarding the FF genre.

I think they will remake it. I think the best proof of the matter is that they have stopped producing the orginal FFVII video game. That would be a really stupid move on account of the fact that FFVII is becoming more popular again what with all the sequels and things renewing interest in the game from people who didn't play the original. Squeenix isn't going to be making any money off of not releasing it at this time when they could be making more, it's bad business. They are trying to increase the demand for it, and then they will re release it probably with a scary pricetag but people will be so frothing at the mouth that they will sell their souls for it.
So far, the only thing we have to go on about them not making the game is SE's word on the matter, and frankly... Remember how they told us AC would not feature Sephiroth in anything more than flashbacks?

I'm sure someone will eat my face for this...
Personally, I don't care if Squenix remakes FFVII. It'll have pretty graphics if they do. However, my opinion of them will drastically go down. I absolutely understand remaking a game for fans if it was a popular single-shot. But FFVII...is not a single-shot game. It has DoC, CC, AC, spinoffs and (although I haven't seen any) probably has lunchboxes. FFVII was a good game, I won't argue that. But Squenix has tugged the udders on this cow WAAAAAY too much. Best to let a good old game stay where it is...at least the game system it comes on is still available, ne?

Anyway a remake would be good because though yes the game system is still available the game itself is not easy to find for under 100 dollars and I have only seen it below 64 once. Oh, welcome to the guild!. Well I assume you are new since this is your first post.

Thank you for the welcome. 3nodding Yes, I am new; just got invited the other day due to a thread I posted down in FF land that bitched about Squenix making Jenova take a villainess backseat to Sephiroth (which I make many glares at). Yes, the game is expensive and hard to find...it sucks when that happens. I myself wish to see a resurrection of the Quest for Glory series, since I loved them so much. Problem is, the PC system they ran on is far outdated, and you might find the Anthology CD on Ebay for around 100 to 150 USD once every other month or so. Sadness. But, I digress. I wouldn't mind a remake of FFVII...but graphics or no, it IS a story I've seen before, and still have the ability to play. It takes more creativity to make a new story for people to fall in love with than to recycle an old one for the thousandth time.

FFVII is a cash cow, they will milk her dry. And it'll be awhile before that happens because people like me worship Sephiroth... and the third disk of my copy of FFVII is missing stressed I'm holding a bunch of my brother's stuff hostage until I get it back. Anywho, they are no longer producing FFVII and honestly with all the money they would stand to earn off having it still easily available now, there is no plausible reason they would suddenly stop making it. It means much more than anything else that they are planning a remake. That's my opinion anyway. Remember, Squeenix isn't a nice little company on it's last dollar trying to make games people will enjoy any more, they are a huge corporation that want's to wring as much cash out of you as they can. And they succeed. I would have spent $400 on a 20' Sephiroth figurine that had real vinyl clothing and such, if I'd had $400 to spend. As I said, it's people like me, obsessive fangeeks, that they can get away with this travesty. I'm going to end up buying a PSP just for Crisis Core... whenever I get the money for it that is ninja

JENOVA was completely the boss in that scenario! Quest for glory is so very very fun! You can run it with DOSBox if you have the games already.

Oh so very true guys.... Squre Enix has such a 'rabid' fanbase that most things Final Fantasy related will get gobbled up in heartbeats. I mean, they've remade FF I for GBA and now PSP... same with FF II... They will milk everything they've got to get our money, and i'm afraid to say this, but i'm one of those fans. I would love to get a PSP for some of their FF games, though FF II is NOT on that list... It was a female dog and a half to beat on the GBA! No way am I going though that again. FF I though, I would love to, I mean the sheer number of possible party combos is staggering, though it is dwarved by FF III's listing.... with 4 characters, a whopping 23 jobs, thats a total of 279,841 possible party configurations... now tell me that isn't bad enough.... But frankly, I would indeed love to get a remake of FF VII, maybe fix up teh controls a bit, make the graphics better, and don't forget the better touching up of the story... Because it confused me more often then a Chocobo would run... Hell, give me FF VIII, and i'll be happy.
I already own FF I (GBA), II (GBA), IV (SNES & GBA), V (GBA), VI (SNES & GBA), X (PS2), X-2 (PS2), XI & expansions 1-3 (PC), XII (PS2), T (PS1), TA (GBA).... I would indeed very much love to finish my collection... now don't tell me i'm not one of hte 'rabid' fans LOL

I concur I also think it would be nice to not have to pay 125 bucks for a copy of FFVII since it's out of print!
And Welcome to Ze Guildleeness where you shall be showered with sunshine and Care-bear kisses.
