[Zatoichi Yuudai ]

The Way of the Blade

A frail and rather sickly looking Nin entered the Hospital, his face and hands pale and beneath his eyes were heavy bags, from lack of sleep. This boy was Zatoichi Yuudai. It was well known amongst his superiors that he was a sickly boy, who suffered from severe bouts of Tuberculosis. His coughing was frequent and his loss of blood was quite horrifying. He always seemed to be coming to the hospital now days and even still, they insisted that he give up the life of a Shinobi. Obviously he refused, for why would he? Would he allow the gods to have their way and restrict him to the borders of his own home? Of course not. Sickly as he may be, he had the heart of a lion and a Will made of Iron. While the vessel was weak, his soul was strong and willing.

He entered the Hospital and went straight into the same room that he always did. It was rather sparse, save for a cabinet with a number of medical instruments and medicines, a few chairs and a rather stiff white mattress. Inside of the room was his doctor, who had a stern look on her face. She was quite an accomplished medic nin, but even she couldn't do anything for Yuudai. It had run in his family for so long and it seemed as if it would stay that way. Yuudai already knew the procedure and removed the clothing on his upper torso. He laid himself down on the stiff white mattress and grunted, his chest pains flaring up once more.

The Medic Nin preformed a few hand seals and her hand hovered over his body, a radiant green light hovering over his chest and abdomen. This was all that she could do. She could only provide the Zatoichi Shinobi temporary relief. His symptoms would show back up within a day, maybe two if he was lucky. At most times, it was simply a day because of his constant training. Of course, the rapid depletion of his health was of his own device. He had willingly chose to forsake his health for the life of a Shinobi. Few would be willing to make such a choice if they were going to die before 25. But at the rate he was killing himself, reaching twenty would seem like a blessing in itself.

Zatoichi Yuudai stood back up after nearly half an hour and looked at the Medic nin, bowing his head and placing his clothing back on before leaving the room. A bit of color had returned to his body, but the bags beneath his eyes remained. He now had to pick up his medication from the front desk, shaking his head slightly. His two Blades were strapped to his back. Holding his fathers sword made him think that his own father went through this as well. But he didn't undergo the affects of the illness so early. His father never said it, but in the letter addressed to him, he said that he was proud of him for baring through the illness at such a young age. His father's tuberculosis had not developed till he was about Eighteen.

The young Shinobi walked towards the desk and looked at the attendant. She went into the back and brought his prescription. Yuudai took the bag and signed his name on a few papers before heading towards the door. He pushed it open, only to be met with the constant fog of Kirigakure. The visibility rate was always low here, so the eyes of its shinobi adjusted to it. Speaking of, he had to meet his Sensei soon. Even with his illness, Yuudai had the honor of training with one of Kirigakure no Sato's finest. His Sensei was one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. Yuudai had shown skill in contrast to his ranking. He only stayed behind because of his tuberculosis.

While his body may not be the strongest, he made up for it with his masterful swordsmanship and his impressive speed, taken from his bloodline. Even still, he could use his improvements and felt honored to be training with one of the great Swordsmen from Kirigakure no Sato. It was an honor indeed.

Leaning against the wall of the Hospital, was Kaoru Kugashira. He was here to meet his new apprentice, he had heard the reports of the fact that he was a sickly young boy, that probably wouldnt live past 30 or so.
Smirking when he had received the orders, he didn't care, he'd rather teach a young up and comer who had more to prove than one of the Village Elites.
When he saw the boy with two swords strapped to his back, he took it that he was indeed the boy he was supposed to be training. His own massive sword, the Kubikiri Houcho was strapped to his back.
It was a massive reforge of the original sword possessed by Zabuza Momochi, and later Suigetsu Hozuki.
"Hey, kid." Kaoru said before the boy got any farther away from him "I take it your the one whose to begin Swordsman training?"
Kaoru stood up from the wall from which he leaned and walked over, his hands in his pockets.
He wore his normal clothes, the standard ninja pants, and tunic/fishnets combination, with his pale grey coat, one sleeve was cut like a T-shirts, while the other was normal length.
Its high collar was open to reveal his headband gleaming around his neck. Running a hand through his spiky medium length brown hair, he looked the boy over, taking in his whole appearence.
He definetly fit the bill as the 'sick young boy' with the bags under his eyes, and the way he carried himself. But what interested Kaoru the most was his eyes, in them he saw a soul that burned with passion and life, a stark contrast to the body the eyes and soul inhabited.
"My name's Kaoru Kugashira." he said as he introduced himself. "Your to be my new apprentice, and possibly become one of the Seven Swordsman of the Hidden Mist, if your skills are good enough."
His hand went to his massive zanbatou he wore at across his back and then said to the boy "Do you think your skills are up to it?"

Yuudai looked up at Kaoru and bowed deeply. His color was slowly but surely returning to him. He looked up at him only to quickly bow lower. "It is an honor to meet you and stand within your presence Kaoru-sama. I am Zatoichi Yuudai." His obedience and formal manner was in contrast to the childish eagerness within him. He was dying to learn. Literally to be frank. He would much rather have been someone with something to prove to the world than someone who had shoes to fill. Yuudai slowly stood up straight once more, still not believing that he had the honor of undergoing training from the Shinobi.

As he was asked the question by his new Sensei he smiled beneath his scarf, tucking his index and middle finger into his scarf and pulling it down lightly. "I would hope so." The Shinobi said, a smile curling at his lips. If he had something to prove to his new Sensei, he would have no problems in doing so. Even if he was a Swordsman of the Mist, there would be no option in taking it easy. This man could crush him if he wanted to. Besides, now he was at full capacity for now, why waste it by doing nothing? If he wanted to prove something, now would be the time. He had to show his new Master that he had what it took to become great and that he was worthy of learning the Ways of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.

He pretended to stretch, his fingers lightly treading over both Shishi Yaiba and Kyuukyoku Senjin Eiseiryuuouken, his two prized blades. Both of them were meant to work with each other. Shishi Yaiba had been tailored to work in unison with the Sword of his Fathers. Kyuukyoku Senjin also seemed to have mystical effects on him. It helped to keep his illness in greater control whenever it was drawn. This helped him a bit in fights to last a bit longer.

When the boy addressed him so formally Kaoru waved a hand and shook his head "No need for such formalities, please."
He stuck his hands back in his pockets and resumed his nonchalant expression he had before he met the kid. He wasnt one to really get over excited about anything, they said he was calm to a fault, and so laid back with things it was almost a problem.
It was also why he was usually the public face of the Seven Swordsman.
Turning back to the kid, he looked over his swords. They appeare dto be superbly constructed, and would definetly need to be tested out.
"Alright then, lets see just how good you are." he said as he started walking away. "Head to the training grounds, kid. Ill meet you there."
With that, he disappeared as he headed towards the grounds, he was gonna put this kid through his paces today.
