Is there a way to find out how many of an item there is? It's tough to try and buy all of an item if you don't know how many there are.

wikkid warlock Is there a way to find out how many of an item there is? It's tough to try and buy all of an item if you don't know how many there are. All of an item? Are you attempting artificial inflation, wait... don't tell me, then my information may get me in trouble.
Best way IMO to tell how many of an item there is is to count up how many are in the marketplace (count how many per page then times it by the page number), double that number atleast, and you can assume thats approximately how many you may have to buy to keep the exchanging world free of that item. Lets say there is 80 Coco's on the marketplace, you times that by two so 160 Coco's that will be in regular circulation, you take that many off the market over a period of time, most people will suck up the remaining ones whenever they see them and keep them close to their chest, you'll hold all the stakes.
I have always wanted to choose my favorite donation letter and just always buy hundreds of them until there is only but a few on the market, then when I do decide to sell them they will have inflated so much because the demand is much higher than the supply.
I don't suggest you attempt this if it is a short-term project, because its a unjust manipulation of the market, however if you plan to do it simply to hoard some items and let them inflate for a much further point in time to make a good profit, I say go ahead.
Hope this helps.

I currently hold twice the number of this item than there is for sale. It is a long term project, I'm willing to take as long as I need to, I won't get burned (at least I don't think I will) because I'm getting good prices, and I won't have to sell for a loss no matter when I sell. I figure this will take months, but I'm patient. This item has a limited number-it's not like any more can be found in giftboxes or anything like that, so I just need to buy as many as I can. This is just an experiment, because I see people trying to AI an item, and I think they do it wrong. Not that that's what I'm trying to do, just wondering. Thanks for the info.

Wow; well if I knew the item I could give you a better detail on the information, but assuming its a newer donation letter there has been a huge surge in the actual purchasing of donation letters in 2007 and late 2006 causing there to be a much higher amount of letters in circulation, your best bet is to do it with an item a lot of people regard is being a good item, such as a Coco or a ninja headband or something of those sorts, more people hold onto those items for long periods of time which makes the sales a lot less as compared to an item like this months letter or March of 07.
Yeah if its a long-term project no matter what you will make extra gold, because unless 07 has another bad luck stroke like it did 6 months ago the items will inflate atleast a bit, the question isnt whether you will make money but whether in the end it will be a worthy amount of money as compared to what you would earn if you vended or exchanged with the money you poured into buying out the shares on this item you are hoarding.

Not to play guessing games, but the item is a couple of years old, so I think it is somewhat limited, that's why I'd like to know if I can find out an actual number. Because if I buy ALL of the ones on the mp (which I won't do because I won't overpay), I'd like to have an idea how many will appear when I start selling mine at a higher price, so I know how many undercutters there will be. Also, like I said, it's more of an experiment. It's a very low risk that I take a loss, almost no risk.
