"Hey Sparks?"

"Mmmph?" Not the most coherent of responses if the otter didn't say so himself, but in certain situations he had to be cruel to be kind. He was aware of how early it was in the morning but given the 'task' he had been charged with, it was really very important that she woke up. That being said, the snorts of annoyance from her only served to irritate him - now he suspected she was toying with him.

"S'getting late, thought you wanted to commence the second part of our project?"

"It's barely even sunrise," The mare croaked softly, sliding her eyes open ever so slightly until she had the fluffy critter in her line of sight. Of course, she wasn't in the slightest bit surprised to find his beady eyes wide awake. She released a very unladylike grunt at this a blearily lifted her head, giving her limbs a very tentative stretch as she peered about.

Well, she was up now and she had to admit that the dew on her coat only added to the appeal. A part of her was almost tempted to remain in this position until a stallion stumbled upon her - the dew made her positively glow and she couldn't possibly miss that opportunity now could she?

"Just ten more minutes?" She cooed to her companion.

"You're shameless," The otter pointed out flatly.

Trotting about in between the trees, Akando let his cyan eyes brush the surrounding. Booooring. Since his young age he had the habit of getting up very early in the morning, before the sun would rise. Has he grew older, it stuck to him and now he wasn't able to sleep in late at all anymore. The only problem, is that everyone else around soquili land was still sleeping, which gave him an extreme state of boredom.

The young stallion sniffed about the air to find an unknown scent come to his nostrils. A mare? His ears quickly perked up and quietly he listened for any new sound. Nothing. Following his nose he made a few steps forward before starting to run, his large hooves druming against the chilly ground. Akando has forgotten how much the breeze felt nice against his coat, this early in the morning. Quickly forgetting why he was running, he stretched his wings with the wind and kept running a few more minutes.

"I'm not shameless, I just know how to get what I want!" Sparkles protested after a few moments of idle bickering with her companion. Still remaining in her spot, dew covered and bleary eyed, the mare gave a slight shake of her mane and snorted. There were just some things she preferred not to argue about in the morning and their 'plans' were one of them - she knew what she was doing!

"You don't even know if a male is around here!" The otter snapped, placing his paws on his hips briefly before circling the mare and giving her a swift nudge to her hindquarters, "The chances of even finding one are -"

"Shhhh..." Sparkles' ears swivelled in response to the distant sounds and a sly smile of triumph flicked on to her lips. It was a good and pleasant day when she could make her friend eat his words! Apparently she wasn't the only one who could hear the hoof beats as they drew closer, according to the pattern whoever it was seemed to be running too.

"How the hell do you do that?" The otter muttered irritably as he turned his beady eyes on the forest, almost expectantly.

"Summon men?"

"You don't know it's a male yet!"

"Oh I do, I can smell him." Sparks cooed.

Running like this would free his mind of all worries and thoughts, which sometimes could be a good or a bad thing. In this situation, to his advantage, it was most likely a bad thing. He had completely forgotten about the mare's scent he had caught on earlier.

Akando circled around a tree and slowed down to the sound of water. A river near by perhaps? A quick drink would be delightful! He trotted over in a happy manner and stopped as he reached the edge of the river. The water was still rather cool at this time of the day, it wouldn't be so wise to go for a swim just yet.

The stallion bent down to take a few sip of the fresh water and shook his long mane, feeling the liquid go down his throat. He stretched his wings once more and bent down to drink some more. Little did he know, he was only a few meters away from that special mare he had scented before.

"Don't say it, not one word." The otter began as he fixed his gaze on the stallion in front of them, although the stallion was clearly not observant he had appeared just as the mare had said. The very concept of him being outwitted by his friend was slightly irritating and he could barely contain the urge to stomp off - especially when he knew just how much the mare wanted to say -

"I told you so," She chimed merrily, offering a wistful smile towards the otter as she lipped him fondly and turned her gaze back towards the stallion. Well, if he hadn't realised that she existed then she was going to calmly gawk at him until he did realise - or at least until she was satisfied that she had scoured every inch and detail of him.

"You, are shameless," The otter informed her as she released a giggle and continued to admire the stallion, her eyes flitting to his wings briefly.

"You know, it's customary to say hello when you walk into someone else's territory," She began teasingly.

Akando stood straight for a few seconds, his ears perking back. Voices? Two new scents made their way to his nostrils until he recongnize one of them. The one he smelled earlier, the one of a mare. How could he be so careless and forget about her! Slightly ashame of himself, he shook his head to put some sense back into him and turned around towards the voices. His bright eyes looked down to the otter and slowly moved towards the mare.

A smile grew on Akando's face as he bowed his head to her, "My apologise." he said with his deep voice. "I got... slightly distracted. I hope I didn't interrupt anything important." He glanced over at the otter only for half a second, before turning his attention back to the female.

"Well, given that you apologised in such a pleasant way I suppose I shall forgive you!" Her tone enthusiastic, she rose to all fours with little effort and gave a little shake to remove the dew from her coat. While she didn't mean it when the dew was on her coat as she lay down - the fact it wasn't on the other side when she stood up meant she looked uneven. For one so interested in maintaining a good appearance it was important to even it out!

"I'm sure breakfast is always suitably more important than a pretty female," Her tone was teasing and the twinkle in her eye indicated that she wasn't in the slightest insulted. She had done it a few times herself - wandered passed someone in a little world of her own. It had only been as they'd whistled or called her name that she'd look round.

"That and not everyone is as observant as I am in the morning," Offering a pleasant smile she began to drift towards him and took the opportunity to examine him from up close, "Impressive span."

Akando took a step back to stretch and try to look bigger. Even though he had the habit to run every day, he wasn't as muscular as other males around the forest. The wind though had buffed up his wings, making his feather fluffier than usual, thus looking bigger. He smiled to her comment, "Well thank you." His eyes ran along her coat, shimering with the little bit of dew left, "You're rather pleasant to the eye yourself." he said.

Coming back to the comment she had made earlier, he looked at the river for a quick second. "It wasn't much of breakfast, I was simply thirsty from my usual run in the morning. I haven't exactly had anything to eat yet." he explained. To those words, a brilliant idea hit him. "Would you care to have breakfast with me?" he asked, with a charming look on his face.

Bing!

His compliment made her beam, with it the large smile on her equine lips seemed to indicate that he had instantly gained her approval with just those few small words. So, he had been polite and considerate by offering his gratitude for her compliment and then he had offered up one of his own. Alright, so it probably wasn't the best or most eloquent that she had heard but it had been how he said it...

He'd been so casual!

It was almost as though this stallion was perfectly comfortable in the company of a female and knew how to respond to her accordingly. This in itself caused much approval and she offered a small bow of her head. So, not only did he look attractive but he could offer up compliments as smoothly (and gracefully) as she could accept them...so how was his personality?

The mere mention of breakfast had her stomach growling and it took much self discipline to mask her embarrassment. Well, breakfast would be the ideal time to find out how much of a personality he really had, it would be an educational experience for her.

"Breakfast would be lovely, did you have anywhere in particular in mind?"

To those words, he thought he heard her stomach growl. It made him smile, but what was even better is when she did not even look just a bit embarassed about it. Not many mares could manage such gestures, more impressivly a unicorn. In the past he had met very few unicorn soquilis. The ones he had met were either extremely shy or extremely snobbish. This one had already prooved to be much more interesting.

He shook his head, "I rarely ever have breakfast in the same spot. I'll leave it up to you." he said with a smirk. "Ladies first!"

He bowed his head lightly, stepping back to let her take the lead and show him which way she would rather go.

Aha and this posed a problem. Given that the Kawani lands were not her native homelands she wasn't entirely certain as to where the best feeding spots were. This required her to think, while she didn't mind thinking it did cause her forehead to crease a little and she always believed it looked rather less desirable to most.

Ash was the thoughtful one, she was more spontaneous!

It was with this in mind that the smile soon crept back onto her lips and she gave a small nod of approval. So he certainly had manners and she would give him kudos for that but her next test would prove more interesting. She wasn't afraid to dine (or devour) her food in a rather unlady like fashion so how would he cope with that little show of 'etiquette'?

"Well, I think I know a good place," She mused softly, slipping passed the stallion and towards a location that required her to cross through the stream and move slightly more up hill. Up close it was more evident that she was a rather tall mare, not quite as tall as the stallions of her race but tall enough.

"I just hope you like fruit," She added, waving her tail lazily from side to side as she continued on her way. The slope was a mild one and sure enough it wasn't long before the sweet smell of flowers could be detected in the air. Where there were flowers there was food...

The sun was slowly rising up and a few clouds about the sky prooved that this would be a good day. In the beginning Akando wasn't too sure if it would be pleasant or not, but this turned out pretty good already. He followed the mare and was about to say something when he realized he didn't even know her name. He quickly caught up to her and looked over.

"I'm sorry, but I don't recall catching your name?" he said softly. Hopefully she wouldn't mind giving it to him, it rather made him uncomfortable to spend sometime with a someone and not know their name at all. He hoped she didn't think it was rude for him to ask either.

"My name's Akando." he smiled, thinking that if he introduced himself first she would think better of him.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:22 pm

She came to an abrupt halt as he asked her name and then released a somewhat musical laugh. Aha! She had always been told that she was selective on what she heard and remembered - when it came to manners and social interaction she always seemed to think names were unimportant. Perhaps it was because she met so many and so often that catching names would be pointless but there were occasions when introductions were necessary.

...She just tended to introduce herself after she had found she enjoyed their company. No point introducing yourself to someone you found to be an annoyance after all.

"Sparkles, but my father calls me Sparks," She replied after a few moments of internal 'conflict' which required her to decide whether or not he was deserving of her name just yet. Yes, he was incredibly attractive and he had manners but she wasn't that easy - manners were manners though and she would make her father proud.

"I apologise, names aren't my strong point but it's a pleasure to meet you!" She reassured him as she began to walk once more, drifting upwards at a leisurely pace until she reached the top. It was only then that she savoured the warmth of the sun's rays on her coat and glanced around at the fruit trees and the berry bushes lying near by.

Oh boy, she was hungry.

Akando nodded with a smile, "The pleasure's all mine!" he said. Sparkles, what a funny name. he thought to himself. He shrugged and figured a name didn't exactly make a person, thus it shouldn't matter much. His light eyes brushed along their surrounding and landed back on the mare walking next to him. She seemed to always be in deep thoughts, he wondered what she was thinking about.

Finally they reached the top, the scent of all the fruits and berries getting to his nostrils. What a pleasant scent! Now that made him very hungry. "Is there a kind you prefer?" he asked, looking at Sparkles.
