I'm looking for a new cab(s). I' looking at a Gk Goldline 4x10, and an Ampeg 4x10. I like more punch, so i've heard the GK is the way too go.
Opinions? After this comes a Shure SLX14 Wireless, then another cab to make 2 4x10s.
I just wanna know about quality. Appearance isn't an issue, since i'll be recovering them. I've heard the Gk is Less Syrupy than the Ampeg.
Opinions?

The GKs are going to be significantly brighter sounding due to the aluminum cones, and the Ampeg warmer because of paper cones. Um, I haven't heard much about the GK Golds but I'd assume they're fairly good, and it really depends on what Ampeg cab series you're looking at, if it's SVT, I'd say go with that, if it's the B-series, meh...Just about in that price range as well is the Ashdown ABM series, the best of both worlds me thinks.

I like Avatar cabs..
but I guess if your choices are Ampeg or GK... go with the ampeg... depending on the model... like angrymalazar said

Shogun Drizzt I like Avatar cabs.. but I guess if your choices are Ampeg or GK... go with the ampeg... depending on the model... like angrymalazar said Avatar cabs are probably the best kept cab secret in the bass world, cheap, awesome tone, it just irritates me that they don't make a 1x15 cab.

I personally like GK heads out of Ampeg cabs, but that's just the kind of puncy, warm sound I go for. But if you're in the market for cabs, I'd say Ampeg is the way to go almost every time.

ha ha
i like Hartke Amps
mainly cos of the EQ setting,
but if i had the choice between the ultimate hartke rig, GK rig or Ampeg Rig
i'd go the Ampeg
but i'd never have enough cash for either of them

I'd say that ampg is really nice, a good deal of bass players from back in the day and current day swear by them, GK is nice too a lot of newer bass players use those. I can't afford them too much currently so I bought 2 4x10s and the 500 watt head from berhinger, loud as hell, but its tough to get a great sound out of, if you can afford the GK go for it, I played on a backline once though with a 4x10 and a 1x15 it sounded kinda muddy and crackly there was also kinda a moan that went to it too, it was like I was playing ghost sounds or some thing like that. But maybe I had the overdrive on and didn't notice.
