So far the mare had met a number of individuals in the Kawani lands and she could safely say that none of them had turned out to be the person she wanted. To be honest, she hadn't been searching in the most appropriate fashion and her lack of results could be explained - she wasn't impressed by the explanation but it was one that was directly linked to her lack of discipline and the somewhat overwhelming nature of the predicament she was in.

For a start she had run away from home, this caused a few problems in itself. Not only had she broken the rules of her herd but she had also left her mother open to attack because yet another of her offspring had rebelled. This really didn't instil the young mare with much confidence - she'd never wanted to bring harm to her mother but she just needed to know...to see with her own eyes.

The second problem was the issue of lacking any form of savvy when in the wilderness. Her newly acquired friend had shown her the way here but in terms of finding food and water, from this point on it was very much up to the mare herself...She was smart but that was another thing her herd had never taught her.

And the third...?

Well if she was completely honest she had no idea where to start looking, the details provided by her herd in relation to her brother had been vague and filled with discomfort.

Releasing a sigh, she flicked her gaze briefly towards her reflection in the river and took a few moments to examine her complexion. Her coat was still clean, gleaming if she didn't say so herself but her braids were looking somewhat weathered and in need of attention. In fact, the weathered braids spoiled her entire look and it was with a disgruntled sigh that she turned away once more - without a raccoon or something with small paws it was impossible to fix, or so her rather analytical mind informed her.

But back to the problem at hand.

Unaware of her surroundings and the company that may be nearby (as usual) she released another of her exasperated sighs and exchanged the weight from her left hoof to her right in a subtle shift of her form.

"Where to start, where to start..." She murmured softly.

Centurio grazed quietly by the river. As a cautious quiet Soquili, he enjoyed peace and the familiar. The spot he stood at was one of his favorites, with the soft rumbling of the river before him and the chatter of the insects that surrounded him, but were invisible to his eyes, were all comforts.

He continued to munch silently, but then a strange noise reached his ear, a noise that said something was distressed. Peeking up over the grass, he looked toward the river, where a mare stood. He inspected her, trying to recall if he had seen another with the pure colors of cream and gold. He took a few steps forward, now seeing the turquoise that was part of her hair and not the water that she was gazing into.

Though he was still a bit skiddish at newcomers, he thought it would be best to see what she was mumbling about. He picked his head up and walked slowly over, a friendly grin on his face. When he felt he was close enough to speak so she could hear, he did so, "Hello... Is there something the matter?" He swished his tail slowly across the ground as he spoke, waiting to see if she intended to cause harm or possibly was lost. This was his way, he like to know what purpose everything had with where they were. It was the only way he thought he could figure out if they were good or evil. He had found out in the past that even the most beautiful could cause serious harm, and didn't intend to let this mare cause any chaos, if that was what she was here to do.

Oh she wasn't evil, she didn't have it in her to be deliberately cruel to anyone. She would stand by this fact until her dying day but she was aware of her own faults, one of which was that she was often as subtle as a brick. It could be a good and bad quality all at once, sometimes desirable and otherwise not...It simply depended on the opposing Soquili's preference in relation to personalities.

Nevertheless, his quiet words caused her ears to p***k and then swivel in response. While her eyes remained fixed elsewhere, it was clear she had heard him and as etiquette did state... At last her head began to turn, amber eyes sliding away from whatever had grasped them previously until they were planted upon the uni-soquili not far from her.

From the looks of things, he was well aware of the importance of personal space. That in itself was enough for the mare to respect him, regardless of how few words he had uttered in greeting.

"I..." Pursing her equine lips briefly, she shifted her form so that she was directly facing him and offered a sheepish smile. "Sort of, it's complicated -" She gave a flick of her braided tail at this, quickly assessing his general stance for any signs of hostility but as of yet she found none.

"My apologies, was I invading your privacy?"

Her general pose and tone seemed to speak to Centurio, saying I'm kind, as you would hope, but I'm not sure you can help. He tilted his head to the side, forming a response in his mind. She seemed to have other things on her mind as she spoke, and her response only tossed more questions into his head.

He shuffled his hooves slightly, kicking up a small cloud of dirt. "No, you were not invading at all. I am just not familiar with you." He said slowly, still staying on the courteous yet cautious side. "I find that when I hear muffled noises coming from unfamiliar sources, those soquili are usually lost, or distraught and here to calm themselves." He chuckled quietly, "Or they are here to cause mischief and disturb our balance."

"You have no need ot appologize, as you have not done wrong." He bowed his head slightly, "Although I must say I have, I suspected you to be a foreigned come to cause trouble. And I apologize."

He felt that it was safe enough to welcome the mare. She had an aura about her that did not call for him to keep his guard up. "I am Centurio. I am pleased to meet you and do wish that I can help you... with whatever it is that is complicated that troubles you." He gave her a friendly smile, again, and took a step closer.

Oh, well it turned out there really were pleasant stallions in these lands. He almost reminded her of the stallions that were in her herd, those that weren't at the top of the pecking order but were content with their lives. The simple pleasures satisfied them, they rarely complained and savoured the smallest of things - it made her so very envious on occasions, when she wanted to savour the small things and didn't want to constantly question.

It was just so hard!

Nevertheless, she gave a lazy swish of her tail as he drew nearer and politely listened to his explanation. He had treated her as she would have expected any soquili too, she was a stranger and she had heard stories...it was only fitting to be suspicious of those you didn't know. Even so, his confession was enough for her to gather that he didn't consider her a threat, still a stranger but not a threat. That alone was good news.

"What you did was only normal, you are right in assuming that I am foreign," She confirmed his suspicious, holding her ground and relaxed pose as he drew near. It was just a step, one tiny step but it was enough for her smile to grow warmer. So perhaps he couldn't help her but sharing her story mind cause him to offer up suggestions or individuals who may know?

"My name is Ashura, but most call me 'Ash'," she gave a slightly bow of her head, pausing only once to blow softly against the long forelock invading her line of sight.

"Although in terms of why I'm here, I must confess it is a combination of things," she laughed nervously and canted her head to the side, her features a little on the sheepish side. "I'm a little lost, I guess that s to be expected when you are in unknown lands...you see, I am looking for my brother, they said he lived in these lands."

As his suspicions left him completely, he listened carefully to what she had to say. Pondering whether he had heard of any stallions with missing sisters, or just sisters at all that weren't in the area. Nothing coming to mind immediately, he was unsure if he would be able to help her alone, but he thought he would be able to point her in the right direction.

"So you're searching for a relative, eh? ..." He looked around, thinking for a moment that somehow this soquili would magically appear before their eyes, and solve her problems. But, obviously, this didn't happen.

"Well, Ashur-.. Ash, is there anything else you can tell me about him? Maybe when you suspect he arrived, or what he looks like?"

Centurio started to think harder as he stopped speaking, began to dance from side to side in anticipation of an idea, and looked down at the ground he was treading. Any new comers lately? Well obviously there were... Soquili joined or passed through every day. Did any of them look like Ashura? He couldn't remember clearly if there were or not.

Shaking his head slightly he looked back up at Ashura, a slightly disappointed and confused expression covering his face. "Even if we don't find your sibling," he started, taking a breath before continuing, "there must be someone around who does know of his wherebaouts and somehow we will get you pointed in the right direction. I will do all I can to aid you."

Centurio knew that there was a good chance that they could find some clue of her sibling, but wasn't sure on the odds of actually finding him. Therefore, he didn't want to get her hopes up completely, and he felt that this made his intentions clear but showed that this was quite a task.

The mare could do nothing more to express her gratitude other than to smile appreciatively in his direction. It was hard to get a point across at the best of times, sometimes actions and expression spoke much louder than words. From her own assumptions, it seemed that this stallion read in to body language so perhaps her feelings would be picked up more adequately in that manner.

"He would have arrived long before I was born," She began somewhat uncertainly. She knew he would have arrived before she was born because when she had been born he wasn't there. When she had been born nothing out of the ordinary existed and thus...it was clear he wasn't there any more - even her mother was treated with just a little more respect.

"My herd refused to help me," She confessed sheepishly, "I guess he did something really bad...my mother said what happened was an accident but even she wouldn't talk about it," She gave a sigh and wagged her tail somewhat feebly. "The only things they said was that he was a monster," It scared her a little bit, if he was a monster (or murderer as she thought) then what would happen when she found him?

"That he had glowing gold eyes and an eerie pulsing light in his chest..." She released a small chuckle and shrugged, "Just a little vague, I know."

Centurio listened carefully to the words she spoke, registering each one in his mind. Glowing gold eyes? And eerie pulsing light? A... monster? His face contorted itself into an expression of fear, interest, and deep thought.

The thought of being an outcast, of not having anyone there to aid you was foreign to him. He had always been treated kindly, treated with respect. To hear the story of the mare and her foal, the same creature that now stood before him, and how they were shunned, caused him deep grief. He looked at Ashura's eyes, their golden glow reflecting his image, and could never image considering calling her, or her kin for that matter, a monster or causing them discomfort.

"They refused to help you.. " He said under his breath, in a sad and alarmed tone. "Well he is obviously an adult." Centurio added, trying to make the situation less bleak and dark sounding. Though, still, Centurio knew of no one in the region that fit the description that the female had presented.

Looking disappointed in himself and unapproving of his own ability to remember, he sighed. "I can't say I've seen any that fit your description. I'm sorry. I wish I could aid you more." He swished his tail slowly, travelling through his memories, searching for a pulsing, glowing light. But every where he groped for an image, he came up empty handed.

"Oh, well it's all right!" Ashura's smile grew as the unicorn took the time to even consider what she had said. Even now he seemed to be thinking about it and that in itself...well she was grateful for it. Her herd had been useless (to say the least), they'd done nothing to help her and yet as she had entered the Kawani lands and requested information they had really tried...

It was strange how soquili differed in each land.

"As they say, even if you let people know you are looking then you spread out a web of communication," She canted her head to the side, allowing the streams of hair to stroke at her neck gently. "That way, if you ever see someone who looks like him, you can maybe tell them that I seek them or..." She trailed away for a few moments and then grinned, her eyes twinkling ever so slightly.

"You can tell me!" She chirped enthusiastically. Well, if she was going to be in these lands for a while she might as well make a few connections and a few friends - it couldn't hurt, could it?

"Although I must admit, I don't paint a very good picture of him do I?"
