(Yes, i forgot to save the tag with the name XD)

She'd had a wonderful time telling her parents about the spook that she'd met and they'd stared at her for a bit before laughing. They knew that she was just over thinking things and she couldn't have met anyone too bad.

Sadly it had been a while since she'd seen the white spook and she'd grown since then. A bit bigger and a bit stronger but still too young to be considered an adult. It wasn't fair but it did mean that her wings worked better. She could jump further thanks to them. They still couldn't carry her far but far enough that she was happy for the moment.

Trotting away from the beach and toward a little patch of lovely and tasty white flowers she'd found she decided she wanted a treat. Fluffing her wings she rubbed at an itch behind her ear with one as she stopped on the edge of the flower patch.

Kal was finally starting to get to know the area, each day he settled in a bit more and started to call the place his home. It was perhaps a small home by some Soquili's standards, the edges lying a half day's run from the two-legger village where there was always some light to be seen even in the darkest night. The little stallion couldn't have been happier with it.

Today he was out searching for where he had seen some particularly tasty grasses a few days earlier, although he had tried to make note of the area, he had never been very good at remembering things like that. Certainly not when there was so much area that could be covered in a mere half day.

He nosed around in the grass where he thought the plant should have been, quite intent on his mission and hardly paying attention to his surroundings.

As she straightened up from nibbling on some of the flowers she grinned. There was that spook! And he was back again and she could try to get more answers from him.

Tail swishing behind her she trotted toward the gold and white stallion. "So Mr. Spook ... find yourself a place to haunt for the night?" Now she could tell he had to be closer to her age since she was starting to catch up to him in height. She hadn't noticed before and also hadn't expected him to be so young. She thought all the youngsters stayed with their parents longer.

Kal's ears flicked back a second before he wrenched his head up and took a startled step backwards. The surprise didn't last long.

"I'm not a spook." The white stallion snorted. Only now did he realize this was the same area he had met this filly before, but she wasn't nearly the filly he remembered. He was mortified to realize that she was approaching his own height, and she was still a filly and not yet full grown.

"I still say that if you go running off as soon as the sun starts to set you're a spook of some kind." She waggled a wing at him as she grinned. "Mom said you were a spook too. Said i should be careful that you don't steal my soul or something."

She was kidding now but he seemed to get puffed up when she called him a spook and it was funny.

"I'm not, I have... other reasons for needing to leave." He huffed, and did indeed get all puffed up. The filly's insistence on him being a 'spook' combined with not being able to tell her the real reason he had run off so fast really got his feathers ruffled.

He made a brave attempt at pretending he wasn't so disgruntled, and lowered his head to resume his sniffing around. "And I'm not going to eat your soul. I don't eat souls."

"I'm going to keep calling you a spook until you tell me the real reason you ran off." She walked over and poked his cheek with a wing tip. There had to be a reason and her curisouty wouldn't let her leave it alone.

"So far it seems like you're a vampire or something." She knew that those weren't real but that's what he was acting like. "Or better yet a werewolf! You're not a Skinwalker are you?" She eyed him with her mismatched eyes. No he'd be a lot meaner if he was one of those.

"I don't need to explain myself to you." Kal said quickly, stepping back to get away from her poking. "And I'm not any of those things, so stop saying it."

He tried to ignore her but it was difficult. With those eyes and that colouring, she looked more like the spook staring at him the way she was. He finally raised his head and gave up on his search, at least this way she wouldn't be staring down at him.

"You get so defensive about it. Makes it seem more true you know" She wiggled her wing at him before she tucked it back against her side.

"If you're not a spook then what is it? Afraid of the dark?"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2007 7:29 pm

"No, of course not!" Kal said quickly, doing his best to squelch every single reaction that would let the filly know she had hit the nail on the head with that remark.

He abruptly turned around, both to regain his composure and keep his irritation in check. "I don't understand why I would need to tell you anything about myself, when you have volunteered so little in return. I don't even know your name."

"You never asked." It was simple as that. Why give someone the power of your name if they weren't even going to bother to ask it? She brushed a curl out of her face with a wing tip as she grinned at him.

"... you sure you're not afraid of the dark? Cause you almost yelped there"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2007 7:59 pm

"No, because it's polite not to ask so many questions of others. And I'm not afraid of the dark." Kal reached his head back to scratch an itchy spot on his flank with his horn. He would much rather the filly believe he was a spook than know the truth. Was it too much to ask for a nice, normal conversation instead of this insane game of twenty questions?

"You have no sense of adventure you know." It was all horribly borring. He wasn't even asking her anything. Just being huffy that she was asking him things that he wouldn't even answer when they were simple questions.

He had to be afraid of the dark. There wasn't any other reason for him to have been so defensive of it.

"That's not always a bad thing." Kal muttered, dropping his head again to search for the tasty plants. He couldn't afford to have a sense of adventure, really.

"So, what is your name?" He asked, more to change the subject than anything else. It wasn't as though he enjoyed being grilled for answers to questions that were much too personal for a stranger to be asking. Not that knowing her name would make her any less of a stranger, that wasn't why he asked at all.

"Was that so hard?" She laughed softly as she shook her head. "Van'Liasha, you can call me Van though it's easier." Even her Mother called her that instead of her full name, unless she was in trouble.

"It is a bad thing. It means you'll just hang around the same place all the time and never see the world"
