Weeks ago, Loveless found herself enjoying the company of a male Kalona. It was a disgusting fate, and was completely against her personal rules, so for the past weeks after she remained completely alone, reminding herself that the decisions she made in that discussion were worthless and despicable.
She couldn't even trust herself after that moment, so solitude was the best answer for regaining her state of mind.
Though, that morning when Loveless awoke, she decided to take flight, and observe the landscape once again. Early in the morning made it so she wasn't too visible to idiots, but either way the lessers usually spotted her and ran. Even though the sun was broiling, she still decided to bring her dark body into the open, and with a snort, she made her way up into the morning sky.
She loved the morning sky- it was so red, with hints of pain and suffering. She could always tell if there had been a night of bloodshed, and in the current atmosphere, last night seemed to be one of those nights. Ah, that made her jealous for whoever had enjoyed themselves.

Zulimar was finished with a night of hunting. Her prey had been a bear cub. She had been careless, and the mother had almost gotten her. Now, the cub sat bawling next to it's mother's corpse. It was an irritant. A severe one. She snapped her teeth at the cub, trying to frighten it away, but it curled up under it's mother's limp carcass and cried. So Zulimar did something... almost kind. She killed the damn cub, and good riddance, smashing the small skull in with one hoof. It's bawling was giving her a headache, not to mention what other predators might have been attracted by its cries. And the scratches on her body from the angry mother's claws, and teeth of her own. Luckily they were minor. She finished with the mother's carcass, almost bemoaning the loss of a future hunt in the small cub that lay limply next to it's mother. She was sure it would have been a good one. Now it was just wasted meat.

The smell of blood was slowly forming around Loveless' nose, and she perked her ears to any sign of death.
The sky had told her that plenty of violence had erupted last night, but it seemed something had happened closer to her then she realized. Now, in the wonderment of what happened, she scoped the area for any clues or signs.
Her scary eyes peered down as far as they could see, until one area towards the forest seemed to hold a strikingly colorful figure. Turning her body towards the color, Loveless made herself soar over the figure, quickly noticing that it was a Kalona.
To that discovery, she lowered herself a few paces away, before quickly moving through the forest on foot to approach the creature. Her nose told her it was a female, so she was cautious in approach. "A good night, it seems?" She remarked, while looking at the dead bodies in front of her.

Her head tilted, acknowledging the figure that came out of the shadows. Another female, a predator like herself. "A failed hunt. I had to kill more than I intended, and did not get to play with my prey." For Zulimar, that was what feeding time was about. Why she craved the hunt. It wasn't the food she desired, it was the thrill of toying with her prey, watching the life drain out of it's eyes as it realized it's struggle had been futile.
What she disliked was wastefulness in that pursuit. She tried to eat most of what she killed. Rarely did she kill merely for sport. Last night had become wastefulness, from her carelessness, and she'd not been able to play her game.
She turned her attention to the female coming from the shadows of the trees. Nostrils flared, remembering the scent carefully. It would not do to forget others of her kind.

"How is that failure, then?" Loveless alluringly walked closer to the situation, and basked her eyes on the female in acknowledgment. "Killing more is never failure, though the hunt sounds as if it was slightly unsatisfactory to your desires because of the worthless prey." Her voice was commanding, but she toned it down for the moment to show she was completely calm.
She took a few strides around the female, and peered her eyes at the figures below her. "But, it looks as though you were triumphant in handling the mother, that is always a risky challenge." With her usual half grin, she looked back towards the female's eyes. "Its good to see strength in another who can handle themselves alone."
She now was quiet again, since it was out of character for her to speak too much. But, there was no reason not to praise the Kalona in front of her, she successfully handled a hearty kill.

Zulimar's head tilted, and she also looked at the prey. The other mare did have a point. Her goal had been to kill the cub. No where in her self-imposed rules for the hunt of the cub, had she denied herself another kill. And no where had she stipulated HOW the cub was to have been killed.
She supposed she would allow herself the satisfaction that followed a good hunt. This time. Next time her rules would be more strict. Her game was her way of challenging herself, forcing herself to improve, while granting her the reward she so desperately sought.
She met the other mare's eyes, dead on. No thanks for the praise, no flushing, no platitudes. Zuli knew she was strong. And was going over the battle already in her mind, on how she would handle the situation again if it arose. "I am Zulimar. You are?"

Heh, how direct! The mare was completely silent to everything else, and now desired Loveless' name? It was amusing, that was for sure, and Loveless only allowed herself a toothy grin at the females comment. "My name is Loveless."
No matter, Loveless was glad she had landed and met this Kalona, since her ways were so similar to her own. "I am surprised that this is our first meeting, are you usually alone in these lands?" Might as well ask some common questions, since Zulimar was only a name at this point. "I only ask because I enjoy meeting other female Kalonas, and it is important to remain strong in our race."
Males were so predictable, that Loveless hated incorporating herself around them. She only used them for petty games and easy answers, since flirtation worked beautifully against them. Females on the other hand, were so much tougher, and more vicious in mysterious ways. "So what are some of your beliefs, as a Kalona." Loveless needed to know if this female acknowledged lessers like her father did, and if so- her complete reaction to the situation would change.

She nodded her head at the name, mulling it over in her mind. Loveless, hmm? Interesting name. "Yes, usually. I have just come to this area. Acquainting myself with the hunting grounds." She raised a brow at the carcasses, admiring the expression of rage still on the mother's face. "Are the females around here not strong then?" Loveless's comment mildly confused her, on some level, though she couldn't explain it.
And the next comment threw her. Her beliefs as a kalona? "Be strong. Hunt well. Be effective, not extravagant." Hence why she hated killing more than she had to on a hunt. Where she had come from, prey was scarce, and one tried to keep either the young alive, or a parent, if they could still bear more young for future hunts. It was preferred to keep the young alive, but Zulimar had an affection for the more... tender... meats of the young.
She shifted her weight, turning a critical eye to the sky. "It looks like rain today." She hated the rain. It felt peaceful, and cooling, even when it fell in blankets, and one could barely see in front of them. Made the earth turn into a pit of mush that took forever to clean from hooves and hair. Or made the skies that much more dangerous, unable to see what approached with no trees to help block the fall.

"The females around here are very strong." Loveless added, with her normal grin. "We have our own way of being vicious, and better. At least, that is what I have found in my travels." Ah yes, it was so much more pleasant then how males viewed everything.
"That's good, but do you respect lessers?" Loveless stared at her strongly now, letting the golden orbs directly stare into Zulimar's. "There are many things a Kalona should and shouldn't do, and incorporating with lessers is one of them." It might have been direct, but Loveless needed to know how this female lived her life. She needed to know if she was truly a Kalona, or not.
"Hopefully a rain to wash away all of the bloodshed here- it will be disgusting in a few days if it just lingers like this." She cackled to herself, observing the sky as well. "I don't really mind the rain, it shuts people away inside, so I enjoy lurking around in it, and surprising unknown prey."

"Good." She said, tail flicking. "It would be a shame if they weren't." Zulimar smiled back at Loveless. "I should hope to meet more of them."
Lessers? Ah, that must be what they called the Others. "Those wingless, hornless, toothless abominations?" her voice was light, and her smile was almost pleasant now. "Or are you talking about the more foul beasts, the ones on two legs?"
She made a face now. "As for the rain, it makes everything far too mucky for me. And it's not as much fun to hunt in the rain, the blood washes away too fast." She licked her lips. "And they close their eyes against the water, so you can't watch the glow fade."

Satisfaction was shown in Loveless' face, and she nodded approvingly at the female. "Yes, those things* She smiled, and with a flick of her tail she curved her body a bit in a stretch. "I was hoping you thought that way, since it would have been a shame for me to ruin our pleasant meeting. I am afraid I cannot allow Kalonas who.. enjoy such creatures to live." Glancing back at Zulimar, she sighed in a relief. "But, I had hoped for the best that you thought correctly, so I have no need to worry now."
She noticed how badly Zulimar hated the rain, and she glanced at the sky quickly again before watching the blue Kalona. "Luckily it shouldn't rain for awhile, so I think we will be alright for now." The thought of being soaking wet didn't appeal to Loveless, and she scoffed for a moment in thought.
"Do you have any siblings or anything Zulimar? Lately Kalonas have been appearing out of families, so I was curious." Since, she of course was one of those.

Ruin the meeting? Well, this mare certainly had firm beliefs.
... Zulimar quite thought she might like her. There were any number of Others in the world. The two-legged abominations, the prey, those disgusting one-horns, the hornless bird-winged ones... and the mouthfuls. Too many to be able to judge with just one term. It appeared these kalona called them Lessers.
An appropriate term. "I should suppose you needn't." she smiled back. "I can assure you the only kindness I give their sort is when I am either trying to weaken them before I kill them, or the kindness I show in ripping out their throats, and letting them leave their bodies. Unless they prove themselves QUICKLY to be extraordinarily useful."
She tilted her head, glancing at the sky. Indeed, the clouds were still a distance off. "No family. I am alone." she had been since childhood, and always moving. Moving in one direction, looking for a place to settle herself. "And I have kept it that way for a long time." she yawned, sharp teeth flashing, jaw clicking shut. "And yourself? You have siblings?"

"Like I said- very good." Her body was relaxed now, and any ill or judgmental feelings were now passed out of her system. "I haven't shown a lesser that kind of respect in awhile, a slow death. Maybe I am just harsh but, I can't stand them." She snorted to herself, and felt giddy at the thought.
"One of the most important things about being a Kalona is remembering our strengths, and one of them is being better as a race. Never forget that- so showing kindness to anything inferior is out of the question." She purred slowly at the end of her thought, wondering if Zulimar understood it that way as well. It was just something she learned growing up, when she fled to other females for guidance.
"Yes, I supposedly have a family but, the way they live is different then how it should be, so I escaped the second my wings grew. I have two brothers I suppose, but no matter." That crap meant nothing to her.

Zuli gave a little laugh. "You like to hunt too, then? Do you ever hunt the Lessers, as you call them? Or just prey?" she gestured back towards where the corpses lay, lumps already being covered by flies, and a brave buzzard. It was never just about food. She licked her lips, eyes gleaming.
Her head tilted, but she decided not to pursue the question of family any further. "So, what can you tell me about this area? I'm afraid I am new in this part of the land... I have been traveling for some time." her head tilted, and she looked inquisitive.

"Hunting them is the best part- I haven't been able to successfully kill anything older- only injured a stallion once." She sighed, what a horrible experience. "But, anything young is easily killed, so it is amusing to drift after a new child that is stupid enough to walk away from their parents." Her eyes were slanted, and she gleamed in delight. "You seem as though you are quite the hunter as well- have you ever moved up to anything like a child?"
Loveless moved her tail to scratch an itch on her back, and then brought her attention back to Zulimar. "About this area? Ah well, I am sure if anything you will enjoy it, since Kalona basically run the land." She chuckled, and brought her eyes back on Zulimar's. "For the most part it is peaceful for those.. other creatures, but for us it is a paradise of hunting and flesh. So many lessers arrive everyday, that Kalonas are able to strive as a race and remain in control." She paused, wondering about her other statement. "Where were you traveling?"
