Been putting in applications and such since last Friday (ok, went Friday and Monday, took yesterday off). Today, I go to a job fair that's at the convention center (huge crowds... gonk ). Maybe this will pan out... I've heard a lot of times, this sort of things tends to lead to on-the-spot hirings. *crosses fingers* Wish me luck!

LOL
Thanks... but, as it turns out the fair was a no-go. After getting to the building, and then driving around it for over 30 minutes looking for anything that resembled a parking spot (and going around cars that were all but blocking lanes waiting IN CASE something opened up), I decided to call it bust. There were only 2-3 places I was remotely interested in anyhow... I'll just get in contact with those on my own.
However, I have what sounds like a very promising interview with a place at 3PM today. It's telemarketing (yuck), but it's calling businesses, not homes (better)... $8/hr + commission, weekly pay, 7:45AM - 4:45PM (so it's right within Saew's work schedule), M-F only. And only about 3 blocks from Saew's job. This all makes the whole shared car thing sooo much easier. And if hired, I'd start training Monday. So, here's hoping!

Don't worry, I won't be calling you... it's only to businesses.
Well, overall it went ok. They started out by having me listen in on calls for over a hour, just to "get a feel" for what the job was, so I could make an informed decision on whether I thought I could do it or not (I think I can). Had the third interview (the first two were phone interviews yesterday and today) and it seemed to go well. I'd say I'm a lock except for one thing... my work history is spotty at best. And the only place I've been at longer than a year was back in 2000-2002... and I didn't leave on the best of terms. But, this is the one they need a reference from. So, really, it all depends on what they hear from there. Provided, of course, they hear anything. It's been 5 years, some places don't have info that far back. Either way, I'm to call back tomorrow around 1-2PM to see what's up.

Well, long story short... I was the receptionist, and as such was in charge of the petty cash. I had a bit of a personal emergency and, not knowing what else to do, borrowed some. Nothing I'm proud of, mind you. I had every intention of putting it back on my next paycheck... but it just so happened that corporate came in to audit before I got it back in there.
As far as I know, they've sealed the record, so to speak, on why I was let go. It was all very hush-hush. I repaid the money, etc. They didn't even contest me getting unemployment, and I've always listed my reason for leaving as being downsized. Which was, in all honesty, on the way anyhow. The place had 60 employees when I started, and when I left they were down to about 12. Since then, the office has closed.
If all they're asking is verifying my dates of employment, I'm probably ok. Otherwise, I don't know. Bottom line, I'll find out tomorrow. And, if it doesn't happen, then that's just not the job I'm supposed to have at this point in time. 3nodding

Ok... didn't get it. Oh well. Probably for the best anyway... I was gonna try it, but the few times I've tried telemarketing, it set me off something awful.
There's a better job for me out there. And find it I shall!

Wellllll if you have enough money to be a backer, Mimisi has an awesome idea >x You know Hooters? Get this. Wait for it. Ready? Jumbos.
Jumbos would be a resturaunt with sexy bbws with real boobs [ xd ] that were waitresses surprised Possibly with a strip club in the back 3nodding lol xd
All I'd need...hmm. I don't know. Building, plumping and electricity, copyright and rights reserved, lawyers, others interested in it, and enough money to help move you and anyone else in the guild over 18 that wanted to be in it, to Texas! surprised
You in? xd

You know what's funny, is that a couple months ago, I had this dream that I opened up a BBW strip club.... to compete with all the Twig clubs around here. xd And I see no reason why we couldn't serve food as well. After all, what could be better than nibbling fried chicken strips, being served by scantily-clad BBW waitresses while watching near-naked BBWs shake what their mamas' gave 'em (not what Dr. Whatshisface shoved in there). 3nodding
But, having lived in TX, I'm not sure about going back. And, of course, there's the question of several thousand to get started.
Though, Saew has just chimed in with: "Though it would be a good idea to start it in Texas because, well... "everything's bigger in Texas!" xd "

That's even better! surprised Get Saew to provoke, I can tape him getting hit, and you running to him screaming "My husband, my husband!" and all that xd lol whee Ya'll in? surprised

one small problem with that, Mimisi...I'm not usually one who manages to provoke, and I like a good fight, I couldn't just get hit
